There is a 5 page section with many pictures of Civ 4 in one of Britain's top PC games magazines; it was either "PC Zone" or "PC Gamer", but I think it was "PC Zone".
There is a picture from Civ 4 of a temple on the cover of the magazine so it is hard to miss. The temple looks like it has been taking from a cut scene rather than from the ingame graphics.
The in game graphics look amazing compared to the Civ 3. Forget those grainy pics you saw on the internet, they do not do the game justice. The camera angle appears to be able to be in both Civ 1 mode (looking at squares) or in the Civ 2 and 3 mode (looking at isometric squares) and appears to be flexible as many of the pictures did not seem to be in either of these modes. The zoom also seems extensive: some pictures showed detailed warriors amongst large 3D trees, while others showed large maps from very high: the trees looked so small.
The units seemed to be all groups of ancient style warriors: they seemed to mostly be in groups. there was also a picture of an old style ship. there were also windmills and temples on the map, not in the cities. the temple was similar to the one that appears on the cover of the magazine, it seems to be like the temples of the Aztecs and Incas (a pyramid with the temple on top).
In the article it mentioned that there would be seven religions in the game including Christianity and Buddhism. Picking a religion would give you a better reputation with other civ's of the same religion, but there are no religion specific benefits. there are also four types of people that you can have in your city: 1 was a priest, another was an artist: I can't remember what the other two were but one may have been a general.
that's all I can remember, I didn't buy the magazine. If you are near a WH Smith or a good newsagent take a look for the magazine, I'm sure you will be very impressed by the pictures.
