I'm afraid I've stuffed up the scenario file for the 1.29f game.
Republic was intended to be the out of the box version but is not. It is the GOTM version - C3C emulation. New saves have been supplied to the staff. Please do not download the vanilla version until the new saves have replaced the old ones on the server.
People who have started to play should stop and await instructions from the staff. Hopefully it will be possible to edit the save files.
I can only apologise for my incompetence, and my thanks go to Xerol for highlighting this so quickly.
PTW is not affected. PTW players may play as usual
I hope none of you have my address. :cringe:

Anyone with such a vanilla save can e-mail it to me at gotm@civfanatics.net for 'fixing'. Its really only a 2-minute job to fix it (and in all honesty, until you have at least one city, there is no difference - after that its minimal anyway). :)

M-B has fixed the start files and I've swapped them. Any vanilla player who hasn't started can now download the correct start file from the Game Page (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/index.php?month=43) and proceed as normal.

Now it would be really great if someone would edit my file as soon as possible ;)
P.S. And yes, I sent it.

@Random Fan: Ainwood is on New Zealand time, around 10 hours ahead of Europe, so he's asleep right now. If you sent it today then he won't see it until tonight.

Oh dear. Anyway it is good that I noticed this thread. I just entered Middle Ages, traded for republic and were going to switch, but decided to check the forum for the first spoiler thread. How this late correction is going to affect my game anyway? I already have a bunch of cities as you would guess, and Ainwood said the there is no difference only if have one city at the moment..

You should be able to do the sums. Republic will cost you 1 GPT for all your units. Despotism allows you 4 free units per town/city/metropolis. So just look at your F3 screen while you are in Despotism. If you currently have N units and zero army support cost then Republic will cost you 4 x N more. To offset that you will get an extra gpt from every tile that currently produces 1gpt. This could increase your gross income by 50% or more.

I'm sorry but could you explain what I have to do to play the GOTM 43?
I have to submit a save after I have already started? Do I use the submit screen? Thanks, and sorry again for not understanding. If this game is anything like last time I won't even discover Republic anyway.
This announcement was only to fix a bug in the save for anyone who downloaded the vanilla save prioir to May 16th.
If you downloaded the save after that, then just submit as normal.
I see you played GOTM 42, so you should be set-up with all the install files that you need. :)

Okay, I just downloaded the Vanilla save again so I am all good. I can now see if I can lose my first true Diety game in only 12 days! Woo Hoo.
