To weaken the power of the military strategy, after enough conquests there should be hate towards that nation, such as Nazi Germany. That would push players towards a builders strategy after several conquests.

I can attest because everyone suddenly became furious with me as soon as I wiped out another Civ. The AI doesn't take kindly to warmongers. Trade-peror May 17, 2005, 10:26 PM A phenomenon of this sort was actually very pronounced in Civ2, and toned done in Civ3 because many players apparently disliked it. It certainly did make warmongering more difficult though. ^alon^ May 21, 2005, 12:22 AM as much as i hate nazis, and as much as i want to slay them...i think it would be a bad idea to put them in the game' cause it will draw all the new-nazi from thier holes to play the game... bkwrm79 May 21, 2005, 12:52 AM It was annoying in Civ II because the other Civs took no account of either your own actions or their own power. You could become the largest, most advanced and most powerful state in the world without ever starting a war... and the puniest, weakest little country would fling its horsement upon your tanks. Now if they can find a way so that the AI takes into account your actions more than your power - without the ridiculous blaming you for 'breaking' treaties that happens in Civ III beyond your control in many ways - and takes into account its own military capabilities... then it might be a good idea. opus95 May 27, 2005, 08:04 PM I would say that exists in Civ3 already. Do AI's also become furious with other AI's who wipe out another Civ? It's hard to know. Does anyone out there know how to determine that? DrMadd Jul 31, 2005, 03:30 PM My stance on War on Conquest in Civ3 and probably 4: Fine to make an enemy see the folly of agitating you, but take the first favorable peace offered. ThePersian Jul 31, 2005, 04:23 PM How about having propeganda in our espionage section. So like history a country can make the world come to their point of view. An example is all the propeganda that america had before attacking Iraq. This eased some anger at America and let them go on with attacking another country without all the Nations hating them. This would work nicely in brining the other civs to your point of view of a civ being bad. So before you go to war you spread your propeganda in other countries so when you go to war or whipe the other civ out no one will be angry (or as angry) at you had you not started propeganda against your target. This would cost civs weakining the Military side, but it also give players a possibility to cary out all out attacks. DrMadd Jul 31, 2005, 04:25 PM I could see that. Atrebates Aug 03, 2005, 11:20 AM Do AI's also become furious with other AI's who wipe out another Civ? It's hard to know. Does anyone out there know how to determine that? Seeing as in civIII you have to declare war (or be blamed for it) most of the time, your international standing decreases somewhat and it becomes hard to make diplomatic deals. However I havn't seen general condemnation of war in CivIII; although nations do tend to become annoyed or cautious if you declare war on their trading partner or someone they have a right of passage treaty with DrMadd Aug 03, 2005, 12:12 PM Atrebates- Hi! How's things in England? Always wanted to visit over there. Deep_Blue Aug 03, 2005, 01:01 PM How about having propeganda in our espionage section. Good idea. you can initiate propeganda mission in civ 3 but it only make the people unhappy , what if they develop this in civ4 and make you able to make a propeganda to a country to justify your war against another country. And you have to repeat this mission on other contries (which will cost you a sum of gold), so the world will support you in that war !! Good idea , and makes great depth to the game if implemented. |
