I recently must have installed some program that messes with fonts...I suspect it is DB2 universal database which I cannot remove as I need it for a class. Now the fonts in civilization are all jagged and the text under cities is sometimes hard to read. A reinstall of the game did not help.
Any ideas? I was thinking maybe someone could ID the font files and I could search my windows install CD for the originals.
Thanks,

I think there is a font file in the Civ install directory. Try putting that in your Windows\fonts\ folder - not sure if that will work....

Ainwood,
I also just had the same problem.
Config : Windows XP1, C3C Patch 1.22.
I can't hardly play (One of the main issue is the display in the Diplomacy screen with many additional empty lines).
Bug suddenly appears when I opened May COTM. It remains on all civ games (new or reload).
I will try the font from the Civ CD.

My problem was that I had installed the driver and 'tool box' for an HP1012 laserjet on that PC. There was an option about fonts...I bet that screwed things up. I removed the HP driver/software and Civ is back to normal. I just used a diff PC to host the printer.

Problem solved also.
Just removed again the forbidden fonts from Windows folder (might have been added by a printer installation also).
