I can't wait till I get this game and have my first nuke and send it somewhere to see the power of the new engine and to see how the big modern cities look like! I wonder what other CFCers are most looking forward to seeing in the new game.

I'm also interesting in the modern era. Will the game be playable when you get that far in time, or will it slow down too much?

I found this quote at the IGN preview (http://pc.ign.com/articles/616/616871p1.html):

One of the more legitimate complaints about previous games is that the speed tended to drag too much in later ages. It definitely helps that you don't have to watch the AI turns anymore. The developers are hoping that the improved interface speeds up play for those of us who want to play standard games.

It is a good thing to be worried about, I agree.

Well, in the tech tree thread, someone quite rightly pointed out how there seems to be LOTS more techs in the Ancient and Middle Ages when compared to later ages. The theory was that this will help to slow down those two early ages in comparison to the later ones, whilst at the same time reducing the Snowball effect by making it easier for more backward civs to catch up when the leaders reach the modern age. If so, then I am gonna be VERY HAPPY.
I am personally looking forward to creating my Democratic Socialist Paradise-and using diplomacy to try and 'spread the word' to the unenlightened ;)!

Yeah. What I'd settle for is if you can micromanage your cities and look around the map etc. while the computer has its turn (Like multiplayer while waiting for the other player).

They did something like that in Football Manager 2005, the latest in a series that was famous for having to wait while matches was being played, and it was a monumental improvement.

The thing I'm waiting for is the modability and the fact that spearmen don't beat tanks.
