I Can't Install The Complete Gotm Installer Patches (so I Can Play For The First Time On June 15) Once I've Downloaded Them, Which Is Extremely Time Consuming. When I Abort, I Can't Find Any Of The Downloaded Stuff And I Lose All That Time. Will Someone Please Direct Me To A Helpful Thread Or Tell Me How To Pm The Appropriate Staff Person?

Can you please be more specific?

Right-Click on This link (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/saves/GOTM_Full_Mod.exe) and choose "Save Target As". On the box that comes up, choose to save it to your desktop.

Once it has downloaded, it will be on your desktop, and you can double-click on it to install. If you have any problems with this, can you please let us know what the error messages are?

Note: This is for (vanilla) Civ 1.29f only - if you are using any other version of civ, then let us know.

Thanks very much for replying so quickly. I do have the vanilla version. Your link gives me three options: run; save; and cancel. I encounter no "save as target." Do I have to click 'run,' wait 90+ minutes for it to download, and then hope 'save as target' comes up?

just chose SAVE and then chose location to save it and then wait till the download finishes

Save and "Save as target" are about the same thing. If you click save it should prompt you for where to put the download file. You would then double-click the downloaded file to run it. Run would essencially download to a temp folder and run the install.

Those are the options you get when you left-click on it. If you Right click on it, you can get the "save Target As" option.

But as Durkz and Denniz have mentioned - just choose "save". Let it download, then (and only then), you can run it by double-clicking on it (like you would to start any other program from the desktop). :)

Your willing help really is greatly appreciated, but . . .

I now have the GOTM download on my desktop, and I have double clicked it. The following error message comes up after I click 'run', a couple of 'nexts,' and 'install':

Error
C; Program Files\Infogames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\Flics\spain1.flc
An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:
MoveFile failed: code 183.
Cannot create a file where that file already exists.
Abort Retry Ignore
[Retry did nothing, so I had to Abort, having been warned not to Ignore.]

I hope someone finds this challenging, because I have no idea what to do and I want to play.

It sounds as if you have previously run one of the old separate installers. There was a bug in one of them that created seven new FOLDERS in the \Civilization III\Art\Flics\ folder instead of seven FILES.

The simplest way to get around this is to use Windows Explorer to go into:

C:Program Files\Infogames Interactive\Civilization III\Art\Flics\

In there you will find seven folders called spain1.flc, spain2.flc, spain3.flc ... spain7.flc. Delete them, and then run the All-in-One installer again.

Thanks ALANH. I found, deleted, and, having installed, am now prepared to download and conquer. If only all tech support were this effective.
