Welcome to the presidential thread for term 4!

Vice President: Octavian_X (is that seat worn out by now Oct? ;))

Goals: In this term, we look to finish out our expansion, and build up culture for a culture victory. The French are an obvious target. Other targets will be finishing off the Chinese and Portuguese, then maybe take on Persia.

Note: I may do some preturn moves in the morning during the weekdays before I go to work. These will be build queues, and worker actions if they involve rails. They will also be troop movement (and organization) along rails only.

Goals:

Turnchat 1 - Enter the Industrial Era (and build lots of workers!!!)
Turnchat 2 - Acquire rails, Finish up on the French, or what's left of them, and take out Portugal and China.
Turnchats 3-5 Put the railnet into place.
Turnchats 5+ Autopilot for culture.

Railnet provided by DoI ... alas, I won't be here from the 12th to the 23rd. I will NOT have instructions for the turnchats on: June 15th, 19th, and 22nd. I trust you can handle the worker actions. I will try to draw up a railnet for you to follow.

Congratulations on your election, as the Chief-Justice elect I would like to inform you that I will be away from june 11-19 and I wish for blackhole to be my pro-tem justice. BH has agreed to this and all that is left is the approval from you and the other two justices. BH has served with distinction for the first three terms on this court and I think we would be hard pressed to find someone with his experience and skills to work as a replacement

CT, could you check the GMT time of the turnchat please. I think EST is GMT-5, but EDT is GMT-4 as GMT does not have daylight saving.

I think Furiey is right. I just flew back from one side to the other, so I should know, I guess :)

Central Europe (France, Germany, etc) is on GMT+2.
England is on GMT+1.
EDT = GMT-4

That sounds about right to me as well.

CT: the thread for next Turnchat has the wrong date in the thread title (June 7 is on Tuesday). Also, please change 10:00 GMT to 22:00 GMT.

EDIT: it might also be useful if you could add a schedule to the TC info and starting time index thread.

Remember, you're 4 hours behind GMT in the Summer, but 5 hours behind in the winter as GMT has no daylight saving.

Madam President, you might notice in the Judiciary thread there is a discussion of the minimum time a dicussion needs to be open for it to be valid. You might want to take a quick look at it, if you haven't already. :)

I will be away from June 12th (tomorrow) to the 23rd. The President and DP have full control over workers until my return.

Just to note, I've moved tomorrow's turnchat up to 1:30pm. I might be home then. The VP said in pm that he probably wouldn't be home himself at 12:00pm.

It is with great sadness that I must annouce my resignation from the Vice Presidency, effective Monday, June 20, 2005. Given that I haven't done squat during my reign term in this office, I'm sure that no one will notice anyway (current excuse: my cable modem was on the fritz due to reception issues until the cable guy came in today to fix it). It also happens that on Monday, June 20, I will be leaving with my family to visit the Wilderness of Orygun (unfortunately, though, not in PDX). We'll be gone for two weeks, so I figure it's best to get a sucessor in here quick. :)

Hmm, now who's gonna be the VP? It seems like no one wants these positions lately...

This term is starting to draw to a close. There hasn't been too much to write home about, as we've been playing 10 turns at a time, rushing culture whilst inching towards a culture victory. That inching is now starting to become a leaping towards culture victory. Next term, we'll be racing towards a culture victory! With some 125 turns left for the culture win, which will keep coming down, it does look like it could be mid-to-late next term before the victory chat. In other news though, the bottom half of our nation has been railed, and donsignia now holds the Military Academy. It's being primed to build an army every 10 turns. Also, the northern half of our nation is just starting to have its' railnet expanded. A few new slaves from the north are extending the railnet to the new front.
