View Full Version : alt-tabbing.....
outcast Jun 01, 2005, 07:27 PM Does anyone know if Civ 4 will tolerate alt-tabbing like civ 3?
I did a search and couldn't find anything useful. Of course there is always the possibility I was just being stupid and missed it.

Hyronymus Jun 02, 2005, 01:28 AM Why is Alt+Tab-ing so important? I hope the AI is supported in a more consctructive way.
Darwin420 Jun 02, 2005, 06:18 AM There isn't any reason why it should support the "Alt-Tab" functionality. Personally, I hope they include a function to keep notes and pictures that can be easily converted to HTML or dumped to text.
JG99_Korab Jun 02, 2005, 06:19 AM Doesn't alt-tab just switch between programs?
Darwin420 Jun 02, 2005, 06:33 AM Yes, "Alt-Tab" switches between any OPEN programs you have. It's real handy when you're using a text file to write notes in a Succession Game, and take pictures of the action.
warpstorm Jun 02, 2005, 06:52 AM If you need to open a a new task, there is a way. I use it all the time. Windows-D.

Did you really think that Alt-tabbing would be something reported in these early previews of Civ 4?
BigBirdZ28 Jun 04, 2005, 02:08 AM With a game like Civ where 1 single game can last days & weeks on end (for me in my never ending, sprawling maps), I really doubt they would stop alt-tab support.
Brain Jun 04, 2005, 04:32 AM Microsoft recommends for all full-screen applications to support the regular Windows functionality such as Alt+Tab. There's no reason why they shouldn't support it. Actually, they would need to do additional work in order to disable Alt+Tab.
Cilpot Jun 04, 2005, 04:42 AM Yeah, I dont get what your talking about. All applications I have ever run are alt-tabbabble :ack:

Well, there are a few games out there, mainly FPS games that cant tolerate alt-tab. When you go back to the program, the game becomes slow as molasis. I do it all the time to change MP3 files in my FPS games, Oftenly it slows only if I dont alt-tab before I start playing.
Graadiapolistan Jun 04, 2005, 08:40 AM I don't know why there wouldn't be alt-tabbing
Harald Jun 04, 2005, 10:38 AM Personally I hope that Civ 4 supports windowed mode.

Now that would be a good idea :)
I think it should support Alt+Tabbing, I dont see why it shouldnt. I personally wont use it because my computer is a piece of junk and deserves to die, and therefore Alt+tabbing takes a long time to go between the 2 programs. It sucks.
