View Full Version : How does AI treat "Starts Golden Age" Units?

Does the AI always build units marked with this flag, regardless of cost, combat strength, etc? In the standard game, the Koreans have the Hwa'chi (cha?), an artillery unit. But AI rarely builds artillery, so does having the Golden Age flag make it more desirable for the AI?

The Koreans usually have at least some H'wacha's in my games. 10-15 in a standard map or so, and I suspect that that's more than another AI would have cannons... But then they are flagged "build arty often", so that might influence it. :hmm:
In conclusion, I don't know what I'm talking about. ;)

I was wondering if I could give "starts goldy age" to any old unit (after the civ has already triggered its golden age) and actually have the AI build it.

Kind of realted: You can build any unit flagged "Start Golden Age" untill you've triggered your Golden Age. Meaning you can build Enduku Warriors in the Modern Age if you haven't triggered your Golden Age yet.

Huh, never knew that. I think your chances of a victorious enkidu warrior are pretty slim by the time your reach the modern age though

It can be useful when you need to rush some quick defenses in the Medieval era though.

Which reminds me, I hate that graphic. Some of the animations are horrible offset. Damn enkidu warrior bounces around all over the place. Some playtester at firaxis needs to get fired.

But I'm falling off topic. The Koreans have build arty often flagged, so we need a better control. I may run some tests, but it could take a while to come up with anything conclusive.
