I kid you not (http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1413932.html?menu=news.quirkies.strangecrime)
CaveDweller Jun 03, 2005, 10:39 AM Why did the chicken cross the road?
Because he was a hellraiser with no regard for authority.
The Person Jun 03, 2005, 10:42 AM You Americans really should do something with your legal system.
Stylesjl Jun 04, 2005, 01:17 AM The chicken's fine was given to the owners because they were responsible for allowing the chicken to cross the highway (through carelessness)
It was not a stupid case, but the owners got off because of its class
Stylesjl Jun 04, 2005, 01:20 AM However i do know a case, when a man drove a brand new recreation van on the highway and used cruise control and then let go of the steering wheel so he could make a coffee in the back
The vehicle crashed and he sued, and won because they didn't tell him the manual that the vehicle would not drive itself
MattII Jun 04, 2005, 07:24 AM Someone made a typo (typing error), because the US currency is the dollar, not the pound. I think this case is a bit ridiculous, but a good warning to lawmakers that things are getting bad.
Lefty Scaevola Jun 04, 2005, 05:34 PM The news report is from a British site, and I assume they aproximately translated the amount to Pounds.
Stylesjl Jun 04, 2005, 07:09 PM What if i told you that certain breeds of dog may be given the death penalty for assualt of a human being or other animals?
Kejixu Jun 04, 2005, 10:19 PM That's one, weird law they have there
PrinceScamp Jun 09, 2005, 01:35 PM It's the same here in Canada, every few weeks someone gets mauled or killed by a vicous dog, pitbulls are even banned in some cities. The animals responsiable are usually destroyed and the owners are fined.

Ever heard of the fictitious Stella Awards (http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/cruise.asp). ;)
Stylesjl Jun 10, 2005, 03:47 AM An urban legend oh well :(
