Yeah I know there have been 2-3 threads on this and you may have signed up already in one of those other threads, but since they were in various different places and over the past several months it is important to get a new, accurate picture on who is here.

There are two important questions:


How active do you plan to be? Choices are very active or somewhat active. If your answer is not active very much of course you're still welcome but we need an accurate count of how many active participants.
Do you want to play for fun, or be competitive? If everyone is for fun then maybe we don't need separate forums, just an honor system of not reading the other team's thread. If everyone is competitive then probably we do. If it's a mix and there are enough of us we might have a non-competitive game and a competitive one with private forums. You might say you don't care which one, which is fine too.


My answers:

A. Very active
B. Prefer competitive for the diplomacy practice, but interested in a fun game too. :D

A. I plan to be very active when I am around. I will be on vacation during part of June and July and all of August, but otherwise, I will be as active as I can.

B. I play for fun, (with a competitive spirit, but I don't mind if I lose), but I do think we need private forums.

For those who've never played a PBEM or demogame, how long would this last? A year?

Demogames usually last 5-6 months (so 5-6 terms, as each term is a month long).

PBEMs can usually go at the speed of 1 to 2 turns / day. That's not that fast, but a demogame goes faster. So since we need discussion, I'd say 1 turn / day, so it might last 9 months? Depends on what size map. If we do a 1 v 1 duel, it could take considerably less (and I think that would be very fun!).

To start, at the very minimum, we need 2 more for Team 1, and 1 more each for Team 2 and Team 3. That means we need at least 4 more people to have 5 per team, 7 for 6 per team, 10 for 7 per team.

Team Whomp is pretty much closed - they are too big for now, until teams get at least 6 per team.

This is tenative - if you have any concerns, please PM RegentMan or myself.

Success! We have reached our set minimum goal of 5 players per team. While new players are encouraged to join and can do so, we will try to start discussing the ruleset. uh..Ginger_Ale, i've got a question. In an earlier post you said WarDance is on Team 2 and mjm is on Team 1. Yet on the team lists a few lines down, WarDance is on Team 1 and mjm is on Team 2. Which one is correct?

Ooops, screwed up there. I will keep them on the teams there are currently on. My list is correct, use it for reference.

I'd like to join. I got sick of DG4, but when i heard about this in the announcement, the idea of ever-shifting alliances with humans sounded interesting.

A. somewhat active. I can play a lot before school starts, but after that I'd have to cut down. I should also be fine for the first month of school, but to be perfectly honest (i see no sense hiding it), I may be extremely inactive, or drop out come october, although i will try very hard not to. If this game lasts that long, I'll get going again over winter break, and finally make a pretty firm commitment come the end of january (again, being as honest as i possibly can, no reason to hide it). But it does sound fun, and that should keep my interested :D
B. fun/competetive, whatever. Think we need seperate forums. only 1 person looking at the other can screw up everything.

Just a warning to whatever team i get asigned to, I play civ on a non-internet computer, so I have to go through a bunch of rigamorale to see the save. Also, i play on a low level (Regent *gasp*),so combined with my potentially low activity rate, i may not be the teams most valuable asset.

It may seem like I come witha million disclaimers, but I'm sure everyone else has their own faults, they just didn't fess up :p

Sorry, this is for Conquests - vanilla Civ3 doesn't have multiplayer, and unfortunately, Macs can't get multiplayer (as Conquests wasn't ported to Macs).

You can opt to lurk (view) a team and its discussion/screenshots, but you won't be able to open the save.
