I have looked at previous QSC timeline submissions . . . they are not uniform. Are there minimum requirements and, if so, can someone give me a link? I'm new and would like to participate.

View Full Version : ? Log Specs For Qsc Cactus Pete Jun 14, 2005, 12:31 PM I have looked at previous QSC timeline submissions . . . they are not uniform. I couldn't find the page that used to say this, so I'll tell you what I feel is important. 1. Strategic Decisions - City Location - Where did you put your cities - Basic Worker strategy, what squares did you improve in what order - How did you plan attacks (if you fought in the QSC timeframe) 2. Significant Events - Popping goody huts - what did you get - Meeting new civs - what was your first impression - Trades - Details of all trades. 3. Optionals - Nice to have, but not 100% required - Details of how you explored. - Build order - What your cities built (This is probably required for your capitol, and second city, but becomes less critical for later cities, I still try to include all though) There are lots of other things that you could include, but this is the basic info that should be there. AlanH Jun 14, 2005, 02:35 PM Nice summary, Jeffelammar. Basically, it would be ideal if someone else could use your timeline to replay your QSC period with a fair degree of confidence. I doubt if any the submissions meet this criterion, but I think it's a worthwhile target. At least in the early turns I think exploration details for the first two or three "scouts", are more than optional. I would also include: - Research decisions and achievements - Wonder (pre-)build decisions - Actions relating to strategic and luxury resources. - Key citizen assignments (MM actions) to achieve specific targets by certain dates, such as settler/worker/unit factory set-ups. Decisions should be accompanied with your reasoning. I'll try to find somewhere for it on the site. [EDIT] I've added a page here (http://gotm.civfanatics.net/submit/qsc_timeline_spec.php), linked from the main QSC submission page. If there are any more valid comments or corrections on these timeline requirements I'll incorporate them. Cactus Pete Jun 14, 2005, 04:52 PM Thanks much. That's what I wanted to know. Please close the thread. Genghis069 Jun 15, 2005, 11:57 AM Sorry for the newbish question, but... Is there a log utility program that could help facilitate QSC timeline creation? I've seen a couple of spreadsheets and the like, but automated is good. Yeah, I'd hate to see a bunch of blah, computer generated logs, but I equally don't want to forget the date I crushed Arabia or when the Mongowians tore down my Schitty Wall. http://webpages.charter.net/genghis/pictures/newbie.gif AlanH Jun 15, 2005, 03:08 PM Not one that provides any detail. You could use CivAssist 2 to create a full archive of all your autosaves. This allows you to produce an animated gif showing the rise and fall of each civ you've met, and also means you can go back and look at any save to refresh your memory on when events occurred. klarius Jun 16, 2005, 04:36 AM Not one that provides any detail. The animated gif of CivAssist2 is a nice feature. But for the after game analysis Dianthus' CrpViewer and Stats are much easier and faster to use. CrpViewer gives you all the city actions (settled, captured, destroyed) on one screen by just loading the final save. You can load all the autosaves copied by CivAssist2 (or CrpMapstat) into Stats. Then you get a nice table overview, where you can find when you acquired which techs, when you met somebody, diplomatic and trade status at any time and so on. Genghis069 Jun 16, 2005, 08:52 AM Thanks guys, I'll work through it. :goodjob: I've only recently acquired CivAssist2 and am still figuring out its intracacies. |
