Can naval battle/bombardment sound effects be muted or assigned a lower "volume" somewhere? I mute the entire computer's sound whenever these battles come up.

You can load up the files in a wave editor (Goldwave is free but asks you to buy something once in a while - but it works good enough) and reduce the volume of them. I just turned all of the sounds off since I've usually got music going.
