Have you used "Really Simple Syndication" (RSS)?

I personally have not, I've never understood the advantage of it versus just going to that website.

I sure do use it a lot. I use the Firefox extension InfoRSS, which gives me a newsticker of my favourite news-site, so I only have to go there when there's some news I'm interested in.

On the Yahoo pages I use it, I like having the headlines and a sentence or two of the story. If I want to see more, I click the link.

It's a bit easier than going to the site, as it's strickly text and loads a lot quicker than a page with all the graphics on it.

Same here. There are now many RSS feeds ranging from news from newpaper sites (e.g. The Guardian), radio ones (BBC) as well as games and computer specific ones (e.g. Firefox nightly builds).
