View Full Version : Another exploration poll (take 2)
Sodapop Dec 16, 2001, 10:17 PM Here is again another exploration poll. This time, it is quite simple. There will be only exploration thread this time for 2 reasons :
-Anime and I both have exam this week and don't have a lot of spare time
-The situation of exploration is simple and the results are predictable
The real question is about the first (west) horseman. The second (east) is probably going to follow the shoreline. We know that the land is connected for the western pony. The question is : Will it uncover the fog, or if it will discover the southern shore.
So here are your choice for the following 5 turns. Good voting.
(If you are wondering for the "take2", it's because I forgot the poll the first time :o )
amadeus Dec 16, 2001, 10:48 PM I voted for the red path. I'd like to see whats over there...we can pick up that other path on the way back.
Apollo Dec 16, 2001, 11:17 PM Do we know what's beyond that jungle up north? It would suck to found our second city only to have it taken by invaders coming from that direction.
jomey Dec 17, 2001, 06:21 AM I'll stick with Red. More chance of some goodyhuts :D ... and also the forest would provide some defence if we ran into some trouble. Would it not be wise to move both our horseys in the same general area , we may spot some barb dips

Go Archer!Go Archer!Go Archer!
Sodapop Dec 17, 2001, 08:17 AM There is no need to send the archer there. If you look a little bit closer, you can see that this is one of the last square of land. See below poor quality screenshot for confirmation. You will notice that the land is coming back on the left, and on the right, there might be another square, but that's all. Maybe I should post a new poll to know if the archer should come back to uncover this or those square. Anyway, here's the screen shot. (If you're still wondering, yes, I'm using paint  )
knowltok Dec 17, 2001, 08:31 AM Red. As our island/continent gets bigger the possibility of neighbors increases. Best to meet them as far away as possible.
On the northern question. It appears that that is the end of the land, but there could be an island due north (8) from the tip. The problem is that Robin's task force is, I believe, slated to escort our first intrepid settlers to their new home. Though we have seen no barbarian activity as of yet, I have looked closely at the reports and journals of our valient explorers, and all accounts indicate that there are various hostile tribes in the region. All it will take is one charismatic leader to rise up among them, and they might swoop down on our settlers. Therefore I believe it is critical to let Robin guard our settlers. We can explore the rest of the northern coast later when we have a firm footing in the trackless north.

Nicely done Unkown Soldier:goodjob: .
Not sure whether the answer is conclusive though.
Someone mentioned that there are no barbs until Olympia gets to size 3. Assuming this to be the case then why do we need to 'Escort' the settler anywhere. Any more barbs from goodyhuts will be miles away(horseys) and we'll have Robin to deal with them later.
Dell19 Dec 17, 2001, 02:39 PM I would like to see what is allong the yellow line now instead of waiting till later since we may want to build a city here sooner than the horsy returns...
ACM Dec 17, 2001, 06:56 PM Me too, maybe the yellow region is more interesting than it looks. Besides that, the red line will be covered by the other pony.
duke o' york Dec 19, 2001, 04:44 AM I know you reckon that it's the end of the land, but seeing as how we've got a spare horseman doing nothing, can we go and explore the jungle? And the other square in our capital's radius please.
knowltok Dec 19, 2001, 07:50 AM I'd expect our extra horseman is on autopilot at this point exploring all of the corners we can get to. I'd vote for going toward the jungle one first though, since there is an off chance that there might be extra land (doubtful, but let's check.)
The question now goes to science for when we research map making.
