View Full Version : Wonders disappear from buildable queue???
wotan321 Jul 04, 2005, 08:03 PM I've added a few wonders to the "WW2: Fast, Small and Beautiful" Scenario, and for some reason, some of them start the game available, and later disappear as buildable? Wha? Also, some are available only in a new city? Then, they disappear later in the game?
Why is that?
Any help would be appreciated.
Bungus Jul 05, 2005, 02:04 PM You tell me. Check the editor, and see what the wonders requirements are, when they goes obsolete. It has something to do with the changes you made in the improvements/wonders tab
Grandraem Jul 05, 2005, 03:55 PM I don't remember what the exact name of it is, but I had that problem with a couple of wonders I added when I checked off the same defence flag (can't remember exact name) as the city improvement "Walls" have. When a city grew to the second size of growth, the wonder disappeared or was no longer available to be built, just as walls disappear when a town grows to a city or metropolis. Not sure if this is what you've done, but that's what happened in my case. Hope it helps in any way. :)
wotan321 Jul 06, 2005, 07:35 AM Thanks for the feedback folks.
After a bit more play, I did notice something. The wonders are in the "buildable queue" in only the smallest city. I didn't check to see if the any city that was small enough to build walls also had them in their list of buildable improvements, but I will check.
And I didn't go back and read all the posts related to the scenario, but I think its a common feature that the designers worked around by creating some units that take 1, 3, or 5 population units from the city if you build them... why have these unless you need to drastically reduce the size of the city?
I'll check on the "walls" issue.
Again, thanks.
Willem Jul 06, 2005, 09:15 AM Another possibility is that you have the flags checked that allow for larger cities, like the Aqueduct and the Hospital. Chances are though that you've added some city defense number, like the Wall uses.

Hmmmm.... could be... I will check it out. Thanks for this advice.
Bungus Jul 06, 2005, 07:47 PM Let us know if you isolate that to be the problem. It would make sense, as I've wondered how the walls are set to dissapear after city size.
CyberChrist Jul 06, 2005, 07:56 PM ...I've wondered how the walls are set to dissapear after city size.Any building with any land Bombard assigned can only be build in lvl1 cities.
Goldflash Jul 06, 2005, 09:22 PM Huh. Thanks, CyberChrist! I've been pondering the answer to that question for seconds, nay, MINUTES!
Okay, that sounded Sarcastic. It wasn't meant to be. Seriously, thanks, dude.
wotan321 Jul 07, 2005, 07:13 AM That is EXACTLY the reason. I took the defense setting down to 0, and the wonders show up in the buildable list of every city.
Did Firaxis put this fact in any help files or documentation anywhere?
Bungus Jul 07, 2005, 01:32 PM Aha, so that's the culperit. Never used that ability before, thanks cyberjesus.
And no wotan, thats the kind of secret bonus feature firaxis like us to find out for ourselves.
