View Full Version : I need a map, half pangea, half archipelago
rmontaruli Jul 06, 2005, 05:12 AM Hallo people,
i need a map, large enaugh for a dozen of civs, with this caracteristic:
one big continent in one side, and a lot of little isles in the other side, not too distant each other, in order to allow travelling with a galea and a lighthouse.
The idea is to make a scenario with two main civs: one starting in the pangea, and the other starting in the islands;
Has anybody such a map ?
Thank you.

second, that shouldn't be to hard to make. quiet easy actually. Get yourself a map generator. then generate a map as close as you want it. then edit it to your tastes.
very easy to do.

I'm sorry.
Which is the correct forum where to post such a question?

You write right: i tried to make it by myself, but i did not like the result.
I tried to generate a pangea, and then to cut some islands using coast tiles...
I also tried to generate an archipelago and then connect some islands to create a large continent, but i don't like what i did.
I'm not so good in map making: i'm here to get a little help.

The correct place to ask these questions is in the main Creation & Customization forum.

You could try generating a continents map and breaking up the second continent.
What size map do you want? I may be interested.

I tried this way, but cutting a continent with tiles of coast and sea is no so simple:
there are rivers to re-design, mountains... The result is visibilly unnatural.
I also tried to start from a full archipelago and then connect some islands to form a whole big continent, but changing sea in planes makes this continent too flat: no deserts, no tundra...
It seems easy, but it is not easy to make a good map: it is easy to make a ugly map.

My idea is to make a standard or a large map, enough for 8 civs in the large continent; one or two civs in the greater islands and bonus village or barbarians in the smaller islands.
The choice of the scenario is between a continental civ whose primary goal are Piramids and roads, and a sea civ whose primary goal is Lighthouse and seafaring. Two opposite strategies in the same map.
