View Full Version : Yet another civ list thread

Yes, I happen to like the "which civs" should be in? Thread, because it sometimes generates interesting discussions. Anyway, in the spirit of the "65" civs thread, I've tried to come up with a list of civs that would include all the major cultural areas, have no head-slapping "why are they in there civs", and still have a reasonable number. One of the rules I've tried to follow is a no-overlap rule, which is where I think things can get silly, and the list of wished for civs is just way too big. So no Ottomans AND Turks or Greeks AND Byzantines or Celts AND Guals/Irish. To be frank, I think this list doesn't suck.

1. Iroquois
2. Aztecs
3. Maya
4. Olmecs
5. Incans
6. Mali
7. Ethiopia
8. Zulu
9. Portugal
10. Spain
11. Rome
12. France
13. Britain
14. Germany
15. Celts
16. Vikings
17. Poles
18. Russians
19. Greeks
20. Carthage
21. Mesopotamia
22. Hittites
23. Hebrews
24. Arabs
25. Persians
26. Turks
27. India
28. Mongols
29. China
30. Korea
31. Japan
32. Tibet
33. Thailand/Siam
34. Khamers
35. Polynesians

Yea! Only 35! And still, I can't think of anyone else I'd really like to see in the game...

3 day ban. You have had enough such posts on these forums. Be sure that during these three days you are on vacation, you not only read the forum rules, but you also interpret them.

[EDIT] Read my PM too.

Dolemitetornado and Kurioku. Warned. Superkrest, no need to respond to flame posts. This behavior is totally not accepted on the forums. Read the rules before you do something like this. Posts deleted.

sorry...as for the list.. i think the first set of 35 is the best ive seen soo far. of course not all will be happy..but i think from a game stand point..most areas are covered..the list would make a fine addition of civs for an expansion simular to the new civs we saw in civ3conquest...and i would add a Australian type civ....like the aboriginees(spellling?) but the polynesians is a good start for sure. good list overall

I've posted on another forum (I think it's the one that says 65 civs), that I think Firaxis should just release one or two add-ons to the game, with each having at least 15 or so additional Civs. Then, let the user choose how many he wants to use to play the game. Heck, if possible, we should be able to play against all 65 (assuming that number gets reached of course).

IMHO, the player should play against all the 200 civ!

It would be interesting having like 200 civs on a single map...although we would have to wait till..hrm..about..Civ XII for that, but some pretty cool Civ's there.

I hope they will put both Turks and Greeks in the game. I am quite surprised to see that they didn't think them in the first place. Both cultures existed long before others. Especially turks, not only ottomans but they have build up many nations in the history.

My two cents:

Organized by Continent/Region (in alphabetical order of Continent/Region)

Africa:
1. Egypt
2. Carthage
3. Zulu
4. Abyssiniana (Ethiopia)

The Americas:
5. USA
6. Dakota (Sioux)
7. Iroqouis
8. Aztecs
9. Incans
10. Mayans

Asia:
11. China
12. Japan
13. Korea
14. Mongolia
15. India
16. Thailand

Europe:
17. Rome
18. Greece
19. Vikings
20. Spain
21. England
22. France
23. Germany
24. Russia
25. Celts

Middle East:
26. Arabs
27. Babylonians
28. Persians
29. Turks/Ottomans (Kinda iff on Euro or M.E. I just through it here to add to M.E.)
30. Hebrews (Ancient World)

Possible Extras (I know the regions, but I'd have these if I was going past 30): These could also be switched in to replace ones I already listed

31. Anasazi (America region)
32. Polynesia (Asian region)
33. Mali (African)
34. Sumeria (Middle East)
35. Hittites (Middle East)
36. Portugal (European)
37. Holland (European)
38. Poland (Euroepean)
39. Nubians (African)
40. Another Middle East or Asian civ (can't think of one at the moment).

Tota of 40l: African 6, American 6, Asian 7, European (including some of Med) 12, Middle East 7 with either an Asian or Middle-East nation extra. I hope I did an alright job.

I think it might be neat where (as an option), if you were going with random civs you could say give me X-Y number of civs per culture. For example (using *Civ III terms*) you'd say give me 3-5 of each of the following: American, Asian, European, Middle Eastern, Medditeranean. It'd allow for a healthier/more balanced mix in the game, and still allow for a large number of civs to be included for one to three of those regions. What do you think? :)

Edit:

I'd add the Ashanti (African) to the list, props to Andrew Jay for pointing them out. :) I'm readiing the Wikipedia entery now. ;)
