View Full Version : Naming The Nation And Other Intresting Things
Nobody Jul 15, 2005, 10:29 PM i think we have decided to play as greece. anyway we need to name the nation and also the titles of goverment officals (e.g. president, foreign affairs minister ect) also a flag and motto would be nice.
so
..........................................
Nation Name: Greekatia
MAIN LEADER: Prime Minister
DOMESTIC LEADER: Home Secretary
FOREIGN LEADER: Secterary of State
ECONOMIC LEADER: Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Flag:
.................................
-----------------------
++++++++++++++++++
-----------------------
................................
Motto: Citerus Paribus (the only latin words i can think of.
Fallensmith Jul 15, 2005, 11:42 PM Orbem Caelestem Vincemus.
Literally, "We will conquer the celestial sphere." Could be interpreted as "We will conquer the heavens." Sounds nice.
Also, a more literal version:
Stellas Vincemus. "We will conquer the stars."
I had to look up the verb and remember a few things, but im 95% sure the grammar is correct now.
greekguy Jul 16, 2005, 07:49 AM We should make the leader names consuls if we play as Greece. I know we did it this time, but we should've probably made it ministers this time, so we should fix it in DG7. btw, SCI/COM are winning, which means we need a runoff between Korea and Greece, if i'm not mistaken. ;)
Octavian X Jul 17, 2005, 05:50 PM Let's see...
First off, I propose plain-old 'Fanatica' for a nation name. Sounds Greco-Roman enough to me.
As for names, I'd go with those names used in modern Greece - Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Public Works (domestic), and the Minister of Economy and Finance.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Jul 17, 2005, 07:54 PM Fanatica works.
Keep the modifiers we did this time for adj and the what not.
CivGeneral Jul 17, 2005, 08:21 PM Just to double check, does Modern Greece have a Prime Minister as their title for head of state?
Octavian X Jul 17, 2005, 11:48 PM The head of state of Greece is the 'President of the Hellenic Republic." The President holds powers similar to those of France as the head of a parliamentary republic. He has a few governmental roles, but most of his jobs are ceremonial. The head of the government, on the other hand, is the Prime Minister of Greece, who is generally chosen by the Parliament as the head of the political party that currently holds a majority of the seats in that body. The Prime Minister is the person who is actually in charge of the day-to-day affairs of the nation.
Provolution Jul 18, 2005, 02:27 AM For a Greek Civ, and to have something new. Fanaticos.
MeteorPunch Jul 18, 2005, 05:13 AM I don't know how city names are chosen, but it'd be cool to use the Greek - Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc...for city names.
Nobody Jul 18, 2005, 06:04 AM Fanaticos

hmm...maybe something like:
Alpha - Paradise City
Alpha:Paradise City
A greek numbered name followed by a surname...for flavor! :)
Kentharu Jul 19, 2005, 12:51 AM what about Gorin? or name it after a greek god Apollothia (after Apollo)
