ybbor Jul 19, 2005, 12:33 PM Yeah :yeah: First Post in the Forum!
How do we want our team to run? do we want to have a very demogame-like set-up, with several positions to be filled, and every member have a fairly well-defined role, or do we want to have more a sucession game set-up, with everbody just providing advice, and consent to the decsions made by the person who plays the save? Do we really even want to bother with writing down a ruleset?
personally, i say we just have a presdient, and have everyone else, just participating, voting, etc. I don't think the president should have any power other than playing the save, and maybe breaking ties.
Spud Boy Jul 19, 2005, 01:22 PM I would rather not play the save, so I would be fine with just having a president play the save.

well, of course, only 1 person can, it's physically impossible to do it any other way

What I meant was have a president instead of just having a rotation.

well, if you don't want to have a rotation, or run for president that's fine. but I'm asking how strict we want to strcuture this, like if we want any position other than president. and how strict in general we want the rules to be.
Spud Boy Jul 19, 2005, 02:50 PM I don't see any need for any positions other than president.
fe3333au Jul 19, 2005, 03:01 PM So the prez gets the save ... we discuss ... prez does turn ... game save sent ... <repeat>
If this is the case, I assume Prez posts screenies in our private thread ??
I am a virgin to demo but not to pbem ...

Generally, he/she posts a "Turn 1 - 4000BC" thread with a screenie or two and gets the team's input. Then he/she plays it, with a screenie or two afterwards. Feel free to browse through the ISDG forum (through the old multi-player forum) and see how they did it there.
Emp.Napoleon Jul 19, 2005, 10:14 PM Here is what I want:
Super Team Captain (Represents our team in UN, Elder Statesman-type dude)
President (Plays Turn, appoints helpers if needed)
fe3333au Jul 20, 2005, 03:55 AM I'm easy ... I'm assuming in game that debate ensues regarding those who want to build units vs buildings vs the more science faction ... yes?
The UN rep ... are they responsible for behind the gameplay e-mailing (and other contact) ... if so I'd like to be assisting in this process ;)

sounds fine, just remove the super. ;)
do we want the team captainship to rotate? how often do we want to have elections?

I would not mind being the team captian, that is , if you want me to be in that position.
fe3333au Jul 20, 2005, 12:18 PM All those who want to take on positions must supply a paragraph of reasons why they should be awarded this honour ...
And yes we should have elections every XX game turns ... what is the norm for this type of game?
classical_hero Jul 20, 2005, 12:22 PM Why should I be the team captain?
I am the one who is putting alot of effort into getting this team running and getting everyone to tell their options for the different poll that only the team captain can vote it. It seems that rewarding me with this position will do justice to the hard work that I have been putting for this team.
classical_hero Jul 20, 2005, 12:25 PM We should have elections every term, which is one every month.
RegentMan Jul 20, 2005, 12:29 PM Mind you, having elections based on time rather than turns will result in each term having played a different number of turns. It was 25 turns/term in the ISDG.
classical_hero Jul 20, 2005, 12:34 PM Thanks for that. That is what i meant, but forgot what actually happend WRT elections. It was along time since CFC was knocked out.
RegentMan Jul 20, 2005, 12:36 PM It was along time since CFC was knocked out.
Indeed.
Emp.Napoleon Jul 20, 2005, 06:05 PM Captain once every two months, President once a month.
Days 20-25 Nominations
Days 25-End of month Voting
Day 1 Assume offices
CivGeneral Jul 20, 2005, 08:52 PM I do like the option of having an elected Captian and an elected President :).
ybbor Jul 20, 2005, 09:16 PM ...Days 20-25 Nominations...
do we really want to go through the rigamarole of nominations? how about anybody who wants to can enter.
Emp.Napoleon Jul 21, 2005, 12:47 AM Nominations are where we see who wants too, so that we don't have to keep track of who wants too fro a long time.
ybbor Jul 21, 2005, 08:47 AM we need to decide on someone who breas ties in the event they exist (and a run-off isn't a viable option). I think the captain would be the best choice. Or we could just have whoever puts the decsion in action make break it (i.e. if it's a UN question, captain breaks it; if it's a gameplay question, president breaks it.).
