I've just started one. We're in the beggining of first round and accepting one more player. Here's the link.

Gumby, I'd like to join one too. Since I am also a succession game virgin, it might be neat to start an "All-newbie" succession game. Anyone interested ?

What does it take to be classified a newbie? I've yet to finish a complete game succession game...

If you guys want to do an all newbie succession game, then I would definately be interested in playing.

Now, now guys, I said I have yet to finish a complete game. By 'complete game' I meant one that I was in from start to finish. I was a replacement in the Indian and Greek games and came in both when well advanced. The games I've been in from the get go are moving along but slowly (though I am practicing being patient).:)

Anyway that's why I asked what the technical definition of newbie is!

I'm game. So that would give us me, donsig, thiazi, and gumby - four sounds good. I'll start it tonight if noone beats me to it - gotta go see LOTR first ! The level just below regent or regent itself on a standard map sound good ? Any particular civilizations ?

Well I started one. Standard size map, Roaming barbarians, Middle of the continents for land mass, normal wetness, temperate, 4 billion years, we're Greece, Warlord level, 8 civs total, all victories allowed. First person to reply to claim a spot goes second.

4000 B.C. - We are sitting right on top of a luxury ! I move the settler one tile northeast for what looks like a better spot for a city and start building a road to the lux.
3950 B.C. - Athens founded. Cow resource discovered to North, production of warrior started for exploration.
3900 B.C. - Our scientists begin studying Iron Working. They say it will be 40 turns before we discover this secret.
3700 B.C. - Finish the road to the luxury (I think it was dye, having trouble remembering), warrior completed for exploration, production of hoplite started to defend Athens, goodie hut discovered to southeast of Athens
3600 B.C. - The Numidian encampment gives us a warrior.
3450 B.C. - Our borders expand. Have discovered jungle to our east and ocean.
3400 B.C. - Incense is discovered NE of Athens !
3350 B.C. - More incense discovered NE of Athes !
3300 B.C. - The encampment of the Etruscans is deserted.
3250 B.C. - Goodie hut discovered northeast of Athens. Spotted a light blue border also to the northeast, don't know who it is yet.
3150 B.C. - Mycenaens teach us ceremonial burial and we make contact with the Chinese. We trade them 16 gold + ceremonial burial + alphabet for masonry + warrior code.

This seemed like a good stopping point so I saved there. Athens is defended by a hoplite and is currently building another warrior to explore to our south. We got good luck with two of the goodie huts but no food resources spotted yet. Good luck to my successor !

Sounds like a luxurious start. Who is your successor? I can play later tonight if no one else is around. (I'm not going to see LOTR til tomorrow.):)

Whover first claims successor. Donsig, if you want it, say so. I guess since I started I am the de facto rule maker but I'm not too concerned - whatever the order of the first turn becomes, we'll continue.

benjdm, I think you should start another thread with a more specific name. It would be easier for people looking for a game, and it would be clearer with the game announced on the first post.

Good idea. I'm starting a new thread - the 'Newbie succession game' or something like that.
