Welcome! I thought the same thing - check in every evening. No such luck. First thing I check in the morning, last thing at night, and I can't keep away during the day. Once the woman I share the work computer comes back from vacation I'll finally be able to get some real work done!

Mmmmm Butter :crazyeye:

So, are we going to do a massive military buildup soon as we get cornered by another empire's borders?

Also is this team a bunch of war mongers  I like war mongers :D (Unless their RL people in office >_<)

Can we get units named after us? Rujikin is an orignal name and should only be used for sworded landbased units

General W, please don't make the new Citizen think that having a worker named for him is an Honor. Until that worker tills the land, porviding a harvest for our nation; until he lays flat a swath of road, to facilitate Commerce; until he bore through the living Rock to unlock the Profit of the Earth; He will remain a Slave.

But welcome anyway!! You've got quite a lot of reading to catch up on. If you have questions, or want anything summarized, just PM me :)

Yeah, I like that guy, Lee Ermey. That program is really good :).

Panzer is the name of an entire series of german tanks. "Panther" is the name of a specific german medium tank. It was very strong, and the allied M4 Shermans had a hard time facing them. Luckily they were numerically superior.

LoL, Well I was playing a 2 continent map standard size with me and my dad on one contient and russia in the entire other map, half of russia is polluted/bombed to the ground since i rule the sea's with a fleet of around 100 ships and 10 nuclear subs and have a stock pile of 20+ ICBM's and 5-10 tactical nukes :D But >_< I have a small landing point and even half destroyed russia refuses to fall to my armor's might, It takes 25+ tanks to even destroy a few city's because russia is so damn stubborn and won't just die... Russia is even fighting a 2 front war (my landing near the north and my dad's 50+ tanks at the south with loads more on his coast) and were just barely makeing progress, either they stock-piles a crud load of tanks or just to damn strong, i about have my final attack force complete to do an attack in 5 different places to thin their units out to an extream and hopefully finnaly destroy them    Talk about fortress europe

Not only that but their lucky in battles

>_>... <_<... I actully have enough troops to wipe him out if i used everything, but I gotta watch our for my dad since he has about 2X the land and production capability's of me cause i got stuck in a cruddy place so I gotta hold my nuclear weapon's and keep a large defensive force and hope russia thin's off some of my dad's tank's while makeing an attack force to hit them with (I seen about 9 stacks of 10+ tanks around his coast and who knows how much more inland) So im finishing a war I have had since the mid-point of the game and getting ready for another right beside my homeland

It seems to be an interesting game. First, if you want to destroy the russians, you should wait until your dad defeat most of their armies to launch the offensive. Then you will get them :). Don't use nukes, it will destroy your future conquered land and will anger the other AI's. You don't want an AI dogpile against you and your dad, don't you? Once I nuked the french and immediately Mongolia declared war on me. Most of the others did the same after a few turns.

And don't forget the gods :).

edit - OK, last post.

@All New Members: Welcome! We dont' have a FAQ thread, (although one might get started) so until then, you can see the way things work in General_W's informative Flow Chart (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3098053#post3098053)

Also, feel free to PM or Email (always better) anyone on the team. Everyone here is pretty helpful and polite. Also, don'e be afraid to post your thoughts on any of the topics. We have several different skills levels (and computer speeds and connection speeds ;)), and our players reside in 7 different time zones. Don't forget to post your contact info in the Citizen List (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=124458)

I think we have a new member - I can't really pronounce his name on this keyboard until someone shows me how, but I'll call him/her Cubed for the near future.

Glad to have you here! Feel free to post as much or as little as you like (though we'd all love to hear what you're thinking) - no one will get upset if you choose to remain silent.

There's a bit going on right now. I'd suggest reading MIA Grand Strategy Meeting (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=131684&page=3) thread, starting with post 43, on page 3. That'll fill you in on most of the theory underlying where we're going with this game.

As for a quick summary, just check the State of the Empire (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=130223) thread. That'll provide you with all of the turn-by-turn events, with mellifluous descriptions from General_W, our current President and Turnplayer.

You can download the save from our Gmail account all you want, just make sure you DON'T MOVE UNITS. You can only replicate the exact moves the turnplayer executed, otherwise you might get info that we're not supposed to have.

That's a quick intro, I'm sure you'll get the rest of it all soon!

I'm here, and let me introduce myself...

About me: I'm a 21 yr old finance honors student at DePaul University, engaged to be married in Aug. 2007.

My strategy gaming history/philosophy: Started with Age of Empires, C&C, SimCity, and various Tycoon games. I always think a strong economy should be the first and foremost priority, then defense, and then any aggressive actions. As for civ, I suppose I can be considered a newbie even though I've owned civ II: test of time for years. I guess I didn't like some of the features of it, so never got into it. My fiance just bought me civ III complete and I like the changes they made, so I've been playing it during all of my free time, slowly working my way up the difficulty levels.

My expectations: Have some fun, check in as much as I can (probably often during times when I'm working), but I will be limited since I do have a full-time job and I'm a full time student.

No, you probably are still the only one with a Mac. I refuse to buy Apple anything (including iPod - I have a Creative Zen Micro instead). They should just face it - they need to make their things much more compatible. I can just be quite frugal from time to time (hence my interest in Finance at school), and have waited until Civ4 came out and the price on Civ3 went down.

Welcome, Dutchfire!
This game is entering it's final stages, but we welcome you to be as involved as you'd like to be for these remaining turns.

The MIA Imperial History (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=153421) thread is a good place to start to understand where MIA has come from, and where we might be going.

If you have any questions about integration into MIA, please don't hesitate to post in this thread. Any questions about the past should likewise be posted here.

Thoughts, comments, and suggestions about the future (and present) situation of MIA should be confined to the relevant threads. So, build queues are the reign of the Domestic Minister, and should be discussed in his thread; relations with KISS are dealt with in the KISS thread, etc. There are two first-page threads that are decidedly not for just anyone to post in. The "Instructions for the President" thread is just that: where the president (turnplayer) goes to find the orders for executing the turn. Don't post there unless you are a Minister of something - he might get confused ;). Likewise, the "State of the Empire" thread is a complete record of the actions carried out by the president for that turn. It is purely an archival thread.

So dig in, and start asking us questions. Everyone here is very helpful

(this post stolen largely from Peter Grimes with minor edits ;) )

What are our plans for the future? Invade the other continent?
I haven't ever played any expansion pack of CIV III, just vanilla and I wasn't even very good at that, so I don't know how hard it is to land on their shore.

peter grimes
Oct 01, 2006, 09:18 AM
The Grand StrategyThread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=131684) has a record of most of our deliberations on that topic, Dutch.

I would start around post #650 or so. That's when we determined that DNUTs could no longer be allowed to benefit from our inaction.

Another place to check is the Term X Defense Ministry.

But, in a nutshell: The Plan

Build Bombers. Bomb DNUT cities and Kiss cities until they are very weakly defended, then move in with Marine to take the town. Then move Cavalry into the town, and use their 3 move capability to march into the next town, which will likely not have much defense. Move along rails to the next town, take it, &c until we reach the domination limit. When our turn is complete, we will have surpassed the Domination limit, winning the game. Basically, the turn we start our invasion is also the last turn of the game. T
