View Full Version : What should we do to the cow?
vbraun Jul 30, 2005, 06:55 PM (food/sheilds/gold) after we do the corrosponding improvment.
NOTE: As far as I can tell, the cow is on a bonus grassland (It's generating 2 sheilds in the city screen), therfore minning it will have no effect.
I did not notice that...
donsig Jul 30, 2005, 07:01 PM Is this a multiple choice poll or are we voting on what we should do to the cow first?
Will irrigating have any effect in despotism?
Ulyaoth Jul 30, 2005, 07:02 PM I thought under despotism that the most food you could get is 2, 3 in the case of bonus resources? And why wouldn't mining affect it?

Yes.
In the poll options I included what the terrain would end up like, (food, shelds, gold) so yes it will increase the food.

Here is how it works: Depositim takes away 1 unit, can be food, sheild, or gold, from a tile that poduces 3 or more of that unit. So on Grassland (2 food) we irragate (+1 food), Since the Irragated grassland is 3 food units we subtract one due to Depositism, so in the end we have 2 food which does nothing.
In the case of the cow and bonus grassland combo, It starts off by generating 4 food and 2 shelds. (Bonus Grassland 2 food, 1 sheild. Cow +2 food, +1 sheild) Then Depositism takes one food away because it is 3 or over, thus leaving us with 3 food, (which is what it is in game). Now if we we're to Irragate it we end up with 5 food and 2 sheilds (Bonus Grassland 2 food, 1 sheild. Cow +2 food, +1 sheild. Irragation +1 food) with then Depositism getting rid of 1 food leaving us with 4 food and 2 sheilds. Now if we we're to mine it we'd end up with 4 food and 3 sheilds (Bonus Grassland 2 food, 1 sheild. Cow +2 food, +1 sheild. Mine +1 sheild) and then after the Depositism effect 3 food and 2 sheilds, which is exactly the same without mining.
Hope this clears everything up. :)
Ulyaoth Jul 30, 2005, 09:16 PM Ok, for some reason I thought it was just plain limited to 2. over 2 years playing this and I still don't know that :crazyeye:
CoolioVonHoolio Jul 30, 2005, 10:07 PM i think most people are going for irrgating (a smart move) it will seriously help with the settler production which is key.
vbraun Jul 31, 2005, 12:04 PM We are going to Irragate the cow. :)
Provolution Jul 31, 2005, 01:15 PM Vbraun, I authorize you to play the save, as I wiil be gone till tomorrow morning.
Simply put, 100 % science, irrigate Cow, build warrior. Use tile: Cow.
vbraun Jul 31, 2005, 01:54 PM Ok, I'm going to do what's in the Instruction Thread. (Which is basically the same thing you said.) :)

Nice, but technically, shouldn't Strider play the save if he's around?
Provolution Jul 31, 2005, 04:37 PM Really, I think the President/Shah could authorize it, and since Vbraun already did it, I may as well prefer him to do it again.

That's all well and good for you to tell us your preferences but I think the whole team should have a say in who plays the save. I myself am quite happy with either Strider or Vbraun as back up but we should really formalise this with input from the whole team.
Provolution Jul 31, 2005, 04:41 PM ok, I put up a discussion of chain in command for playing the save.
Strider Aug 01, 2005, 12:23 PM I say we kill it and grill up some hamburgers.

Great idea! If you'd have come up with that one during the election I'd have voted for you! :D
