View Full Version : Capitol city naming
DaveShack Aug 07, 2005, 02:55 PM It's time to fulfill my first campaign promise as Governor of our soon-to-be capitol. The floor is now open for citizen suggestions for a city name.
My thoughts on this are to have a name based on Olympus, or something which means "first" or "center" in Greek. Unfortunaly I know some words based on the Latin root for first, but not the Greek. Another possibility is something based on Chronos the god of time.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Aug 07, 2005, 03:09 PM I know it's the base, but we could try for Athens. Or Alpha.
Chieftess Aug 07, 2005, 04:17 PM Kepsalaio (capital -- I hope babelfish gave me the meaning as in city, not the currency. ;))
Provolution Aug 07, 2005, 04:36 PM Priapos should the city be named, hinting to be the primary city.
Priapos was the son of Dionysos, the wine god of Ancient Greece, and Aphroditis, the love god of Ancient Greece.
vikingruler Aug 07, 2005, 06:40 PM I suggest something that's profound. like a god's name, such as ares, zeus, apollo, etc...
RegentMan Aug 07, 2005, 06:57 PM Alphabeta. Kind of catchy. :)
Furiey Aug 07, 2005, 07:38 PM How about Olympus.
Giio Aug 08, 2005, 01:59 AM Usura, Its shoddy Latin but I think its symbolic of the 5cc chalange theme ;)
Civlord Aug 08, 2005, 01:05 PM Limpopororisstolisbenasti?
Gerikes Aug 08, 2005, 01:39 PM Yeah, I know, it's the standard, but I'd vote for Athens.
Nobody Aug 08, 2005, 05:28 PM Dionysos is cool, he is god of wine and alterted states, like acting. He seems to be the coolest god, reaching out to the youth through there vases and plays. (the only things i seen) if he was alive to day he would probably be dating Paris Hilton and renamed him self D-Diddy, so my idea for city name is "D-Diddy" (dum dum dumb)
Donovan Zoi Aug 08, 2005, 10:40 PM If we are going to have a leader named Zeus, we may as well make him feel at home.
Count me in with the Olympus crowd.
DaveShack Aug 08, 2005, 10:42 PM Thank you all for your input. :D It is clear that Olympus is getting a lot of support, so I've gone ahead with creating a city thread using that name.
