View Full Version : Fanatikos Ephemerida Network: Home Office
greekguy Aug 07, 2005, 07:39 PM This will be the Home Office for my newspaper. It will be a network of threads with articles written by lots of reporters. This will be the main office for national stories and main information. The other threads will be for 1 city each. Those threads will be started when the City is founded. Each of the City papers, will be run by me. I will then make sure those papers run smoothly and hire 2 reporters for Domestic Affairs and City Politics.(i don't have the time to do this, sorry) But to get started, i first need to have some reporters. So anyone who wants to sign up is welcome. Here are the jobs for the main office:
Editor: greekguy
Foreign Reporter: Nobody
Wartime Reporter: Ranger99
National News Reporter: ravensfire
Judicial/Political Reporter: mhcarver
Grumpy Writer to the Editor: classical_hero
Trade Reporter: vikingruler
Verita Columnists: Strider and Gerikes
Satirical Reporter: Civman2004
If there is a job you think should exist just PM me or post on this thread, and i'll decide if it's important enough to have.
Just remember, that i'm the Editor and i could write articles anytime, but i'll try to let you guys do most of the reporting.
This is how the network will work:
To read the articles you will have to be a subscriber. To subscribe, you just have to simply say so in a post in this thread. I will then add you to the subscribers list. When reporters write an article, they will PM it to me. i will then PM you with all the articles written recently once a week. They will be hyperlinked and you only have to read the ones with titles that interest you. no articles will be posted. this will let the subscriber list have some use. :)

Also, any comments you have regarding reporters, articles, or the newspaper in general should be posted here. :)
I've decided that everyone will get their newspapapers on Saturday. So any articles written during the week should be PMed to me and then i'll PM them all on Saturday.
vikingruler Aug 08, 2005, 08:57 AM I'll subscribe for the newspaper network. Also, could I be the wartime reporter?
peter grimes Aug 08, 2005, 09:00 AM I'll subscribe for a while, but I'm not gonna pay any 'early cancellation fees' if I want out. Got it?! ;)
classical_hero Aug 08, 2005, 09:11 AM I would like to get my old job back as the Grumpy Letter to the Editor Writer.
greekguy Aug 08, 2005, 09:45 AM I would like to get my old job back as the Grumpy Letter to the Editor Writer.
i knew i forgot about at least one old job. i'll add it to the least and you'll be the reporter. Don't forget to PM me all articles you write, as opposed to posting them.
Also, i'm going to automatically put all reporters on the subcscribers list, ok?
classical_hero Aug 08, 2005, 10:06 AM Fine with me. How else could we read about our fabulous work?
Ranger99 Aug 08, 2005, 10:12 AM I would like to subscribe as well.
greekguy Aug 08, 2005, 10:35 AM Fine with me. How else could we read about our fabulous work?
This is how the network will work:

Does this explain everything? If not, just post any more questions you have.
greekguy Aug 08, 2005, 10:39 AM I'll subscribe for the newspaper network. Also, could I be the wartime reporter?
alright, you can be wartime reporter.
EDIT: POST 1000!!!  [party] :hammer: :hatsoff: :bounce:
Ranger99 Aug 08, 2005, 11:24 AM now that i think about it any in-depth analysis or intelligence articles could be wrtten by me as well if you don't mind...
If yes just PM a writing assignment and i'll get to work, or if Vikingruler needes any help, or something else i could help him with that as well.
RegentMan Aug 08, 2005, 12:33 PM I'll subscribe.
greekguy Aug 08, 2005, 12:53 PM now that i think about it any in-depth analysis or intelligence articles could be wrtten by me as well if you don't mind...
If yes just PM a writing assignment and i'll get to work, or if Vikingruler needes any help, or something else i could help him with that as well.
I'll make you wartime reporter as well. There's no problem with having 2 people for one job. :)
EDIT: anyone else out there? i just need to fill 2 more positions...
Great Ceasar Aug 09, 2005, 12:58 PM I would like to subscribe also.
Octavian X Aug 09, 2005, 01:49 PM Sign me up. :)
greekguy Aug 09, 2005, 03:09 PM Sign me up. :)
i'll put you on the subscribers list, but does this mean you also want to be a reporter?
admiral-bell Aug 09, 2005, 03:23 PM I want to subscribe
Nobody Aug 10, 2005, 12:05 AM can i be foreign affairs reporter.
Civman2004 Aug 10, 2005, 03:08 AM Can I be the satirical reporter?
greekguy Aug 10, 2005, 07:29 AM can i be foreign affairs reporter.
yes, but only if you do a better job than last time. ;)
Can I be the satirical reporter?
not sure what you mean. i know you'd write satires, but what about? do you have anything particular in mind?
greekguy Aug 10, 2005, 01:15 PM i am pleased to announce that ravensfire will be our National News reporter. i'm sure he will do a fine job. :goodjob:
greekguy Aug 12, 2005, 12:59 PM the first Issue of the Fanatikos Ephemerida has been sent out!! I did it on Friday, because i'll be away this weekend, but the paper will normally go out on Saturday. Please post in this thread any comments or questions you have regarding the articles. Also, if you did not receive the paper please post here as well.
admiral-bell Aug 12, 2005, 01:00 PM The links didn't work
RegentMan Aug 12, 2005, 01:14 PM The links are to your (greekguy's) PMs, and we don't have access to your PM mailbox.
greekguy Aug 12, 2005, 01:16 PM sorry about that, i'm going to resend the paper momentarily and put the articles in spoilers instead...
OK, i re-sent the papers. please tell me if it works now.
classical_hero Aug 12, 2005, 02:19 PM It works now.
admiral-bell Aug 12, 2005, 04:41 PM thanks, it works now
Stuck_as_a_Mac Aug 14, 2005, 08:50 AM I'm late, but I'd like a subscription.
DaveShack Aug 14, 2005, 11:05 AM I'm late, but I'd like a subscription.
Ditto. :) (78910chars)
greekguy Aug 20, 2005, 12:58 PM Issue 2 has been sent out!! There are 5 articles in total. post any comments/questions or if you have experienced any problems here.
DaveShack: you need to empty out some PM's before i send the paper to you. looks like your box is full.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Aug 20, 2005, 01:10 PM I would like to get the FEN to reprint the Preachers speech to distribute to the masses, if at all possible.
SaaM
greekguy Aug 20, 2005, 03:15 PM I would like to get the FEN to reprint the Preachers speech to distribute to the masses, if at all possible.
SaaM
done and done. sent to everyone (except to DS of course, not until he empties his PM box).
greekguy Aug 26, 2005, 04:50 PM Starting for with the next week's paper (not this saturday, next one) there will be a Trade Reporter. I've decided it will be a needed and fulfilling position. Anyone who wants can sign up, so go ahead and sign up for the Trade Reporter. :)
EDIT: citizens seeking election can PM platforms/speeches to be published in tommorrow's paper. i'll take as many as i can handle. :)
greekguy Aug 27, 2005, 11:15 AM Announcement Time: The FEN will go out on Sunday instead of Saturday this week. This will happen to give some reporters more time to finish up articles and hopefully allow more citizens to send in speechs/platforms. Come on people!! I've seen the races, and some of them are extremely heated. A speech sent to a dozen or so citizens can really help your campaign. So please: send in some speechs and such. :)
greekguy Aug 27, 2005, 06:06 PM Annoucement: classical_hero has resigned his post to Grumpy Writer to Editor reporter. this position is now open to all applicants. just post your interest in this thread and you will get the job. don't forget that the Trade Reporter job is still open as well. and i'm still looking for election seeking citizens sending me speechs. i'd be willing to take speechs from any citizens in a contested race. :)
greekguy Aug 28, 2005, 11:11 AM Yet another announcement and this one is a big one: Newspaper Verita and the FEN are going to merge. For now, when Strider and Gerikes release a Verita chronicle it will go out in next FEN issue. after it's premier in the FEN it will then be posted publicly in the Verita thread. I'm hoping that the Verita column will be a big hit with our readers. I'd also like to welcome Strider and Gerikes to the FEN news team! :)
also, vikingruler has decided to resign from his wartime reporter post and is now the FEN's official trade reporter. i'm sure we will all see lots of great articles from him.
Bootstoots Aug 28, 2005, 11:19 AM I'll subscribe.
Gerikes Aug 28, 2005, 12:34 PM I guess from association it's safe to say that I'd like to subscribe :P
RegentMan Aug 28, 2005, 02:46 PM Feel free to use my response in the Expatriate election thread for your newspapering needs. :)
greekguy Aug 28, 2005, 05:09 PM Issue 3 has been sent out!! I hope you like them. :) comments are of course welcome.
RegentMan Aug 28, 2005, 08:19 PM I enjoyed it. We have some pretty darn close elections here!
greekguy Aug 29, 2005, 07:44 AM I enjoyed it. We have some pretty darn close elections here!
thanks, glad you liked it. :)
ok, a few more annoucements: Civman2004 is now the FEN's official satirical reporter. i'm sure he'll do an excellent job. also, the paper will be going out next monday instead of saturday, due to my vacation. again, the next issue will go out on Monday Sept. 5, rather than the usual Saturday date.
Donovan Zoi Aug 29, 2005, 08:22 AM greekguy,
I am truly sorry that could not make myself available for the third issue of your newspaper. Should I be fortunate enough to gain the presidency, I intend to have an open door policy with the press.
That said, I'd like to subscribe to the FEN. Also, is it possible for me to secure a copy of all back issues? I know this may be an odd request, but I would like to have as much infomation at my fingertips as possible for the coming term (so long as my election lead holds!)
Thank you for your continued public service to the people of Fanatikos.
Respectfully,
Donovan Zoi
Candidate for President

glad you want to subscribe and yes you can get the back issues. i've been keeping one issue of every edition for myself. looks like it is coming in handy. :)
EDIT: issues have been sent. enjoy. :)

Thank you, greekguy. All issues were excellent reads. I look forward to more of the same in the future.
greekguy Sep 05, 2005, 06:36 PM Hi everybody! Now i know that the paper was supposed to go out today, but i'm still waiting for one last article to come in. Once i get it, i'll send out the paper tommorrow. So don't worry, you'll have your FEN and cup of coffee tommorrow morning.
M4 Sherman Sep 05, 2005, 06:39 PM People of Fanatikos
Sorry for trying to depose DZ. I was only kidding, but i wanted to have more fun here. come on!
Civlord Sep 05, 2005, 07:15 PM Mr. Greekguy,
I've been watching your progress and my only words are: "Post it now! I want to read!". I am really curious about your newspaper and I want to see the results of your hard work here. But I am sure that you did a good job :goodjob:!
Sincerelly,
Governor Civlord
greekguy Sep 06, 2005, 01:47 PM Papers have been sent out!! I really hope you like them. Now you might notice that you have all received 2 pm's (except Nobody, who needs to clear out his PM box to make room for the Verita). that's because putting the Verita Chronicle with the paper put the PM over the 10,000 character limit. this was not an offense against Strider or Gerikes. i tried my best to bring down the characters, but i could only get it around 11,000. Enjoy your papers, a new issue will be out Saturday!! :)
Civlord Sep 06, 2005, 01:53 PM Go on, greekguy!
greekguy Sep 10, 2005, 08:51 AM alright just thought i should say paper will go out on sunday, not saturday. i'm doing this because we haven't had a TC all week, so there is nothing to write about (really). i'll be expected articles from reporters to start coming in after the TC. thanks.
greekguy Sep 11, 2005, 03:15 PM Papers have been sent out!! Now if i do say so myself, i would have to say Volume 5 is one of the best issues the FEN has sent out yet. This paper has 6 juicy, informative articles, written by an array of reporters. Enjoy!
questions and comments should be posted here. thanks. :)
Civlord Sep 11, 2005, 04:22 PM I would like to subscribe. Didn't know I had to before, but this newspaper seems interesting.
Ranger99 Sep 11, 2005, 04:59 PM Hey Greekguy...The article by Mhcarver isn't opening for me.....But the rest worked....
Just wondering how to fix this...
Nice Paper so far though...Tons of articles this time!
-Ranger99-
Civlord Sep 11, 2005, 05:19 PM Greekguy, can you send me all the articles since September 1st? They are still recent, and it looks like they are good to read and that there is a lot of them.
Thanks,
Civlord
vikingruler Sep 11, 2005, 05:40 PM yes, greekguy great paper this time. in particular my article. ;)
greekguy Sep 12, 2005, 02:21 PM I would like to subscribe. Didn't know I had to before, but this newspaper seems interesting.
sure thing, i'll add you to the subscribers list

Thanks,
Civlord

Civlord Sep 12, 2005, 02:45 PM Thanks, greekguy!
Ranger99 Sep 12, 2005, 04:57 PM AHHHH!!! It still won't work!!!!
What's wrong with the stupid thingy???
-Ranger99-
greekguy Sep 12, 2005, 05:05 PM AHHHH!!! It still won't work!!!!

Thanks though...
-Ranger99-
greekguy Sep 18, 2005, 10:25 AM Just a heads up, the paper will go out later today. i'm just waiting for one more article to come in.
greekguy Sep 19, 2005, 12:10 PM ok, papers have finally been sent out. i'm sorry i didn't send them out yesterday, but my internet connection died on me and hasn't come back. i'm posting this from my local library. i hope you guys enjoy the papers, even though they are a bit late. just one more thing: some articles are a bit more controversial than usual. they are more opinionated. please take no offense from any articles. they are not meant as insults or slander, merely journalism. thank you. :)
greekguy Sep 19, 2005, 12:46 PM Announcement to all Reporters:
Seeing as TC's are now coming in fast and furious, please send me as many articles as you can. If anything you find about comes under your writing area please PM me the article! I'm saying this because i won't be back on until Wed. at the best. I'm hoping for some articles when i get back. Bye!
Strider Sep 19, 2005, 04:32 PM The [spoiler] tags for me won't open, can you please send me the paper again without them?
Also, I'm hoping to have the next Verita article ready for the next issue.
greekguy Sep 21, 2005, 01:58 PM The [spoiler] tags for me won't open, can you please send me the paper again without them?
sending now.... EDIT: tags should work now.
Also, I'm hoping to have the next Verita article ready for the next issue.
looking foward to it. :)
greekguy Sep 25, 2005, 11:10 AM Papers are out!! This issue is loaded with articles, elections platform/speeches, and a new Verita chronicle! You'll also notice it is broken up into 2 PM's. that's because i couldn't squeeze it all in without going over the PM character limit.
Enjoy your paper!
greekguy Oct 01, 2005, 03:37 PM FEN Issue 8 has been sent out. This one has 5 articles about all the major events of the past week. if you have any questions/comments, please feel free to post them. also, if you have problems with the paper, please post them in this thread. thanks and enjoy your paper! :)
Kentharu Oct 01, 2005, 04:21 PM hey, can i get in this paper thingy? how does it work?
RegentMan Oct 01, 2005, 05:45 PM I love how the Expatriate Governor's coverage was one line TimBentely and RegentMan, and five lines Cyc.
mhcarver Oct 01, 2005, 06:28 PM I love how the Expatriate Governor's coverage was one line TimBentely and RegentMan, and five lines Cyc.
sorry about that, I've been suffering from a bad cold lately and didn't see the few lines of debate in the nominations thread . My sincerest apologies , next time you run for office I'll make sure you get your due, though I still would have put the cyc part in somewhere
Strider Oct 02, 2005, 08:12 AM Greekguy, did you not get the Verita article?
greekguy Oct 02, 2005, 12:12 PM hey, can i get in this paper thingy? how does it work?
sure, i'll add you to the subscriber list. now everytime a new paper goes out (once a week) you will get it in a PM. i hope you enjoy it. all the reporters here work hard all the articles they write. :)
EDIT: in fact, i'll send you the paper that went out yesterday, as a nice gesture towards a new subscriber. :)
greekguy Oct 02, 2005, 12:13 PM Greekguy, did you not get the Verita article?
the last Verita Chronicle i received was about the Persian War of the Books and i sent it out in Volume 7.
Strider Oct 02, 2005, 04:00 PM the last Verita Chronicle i received was about the Persian War of the Books and i sent it out in Volume 7.
Damn it... I could have swore I sent it.
Okay... Verita next issue for sure.
greekguy Oct 04, 2005, 09:33 AM Hi everybody! I'm here today to annouce that the FEN will now be featuring a new column, but it will be handled a bit differently. Some of you might be familar with the thread made by the now banned citizen Civlord, Fanatikos Watchdog. It was basically a newspaper of editorials. I've decided to take that idea and apply it to the FEN. For now on, any reporter or citizen can post an editorial in this thread. Now I would like the editorials to be about something forum related, like the editorials posted in that thread (they were about the DZ CC case and the debate about building wonders). Basically, I don't want a editorial here about war being declared or peace signed, but rather war being discussed. Just remember no spam or flaming of other people. Now, go ahead and post your thoughts on DG forum discussions, polls, gov., etc. :)
also, i will link all editorials into the first post the thread, kind of like a index.
Dominus Romae Oct 04, 2005, 11:50 AM Greekguy, I would like to subscribe to the FEN.
greekguy Oct 04, 2005, 02:47 PM Greekguy, I would like to subscribe to the FEN.

Cyc Oct 06, 2005, 04:49 PM I love how the Expatriate Governor's coverage was one line TimBentely and RegentMan, and five lines Cyc.
Five lines Cyc?!?! This I have to read!
Please sign me up for this publication, Greekguy. I'm trying to catch up on all the goings-on here, so any past issues you have saved on your hard drive... I would love to read. I will try to part with my old PM's ;) and make room for your paper.
greekguy Oct 06, 2005, 07:23 PM Five lines Cyc?!?! This I have to read!

EDIT: i sent you issue 7 and the Election Special. i was about to said you Issue 8 (last week's issue), but you hit your PM quota limit.
Black_Hole Oct 06, 2005, 09:19 PM Sign me up... I thought i signed up before... Must have passed me
greekguy Oct 08, 2005, 02:01 PM With the current world we live in constantly dipping in and out of war, people are beginning to question if this is the only land on the entire planet. There have been rumors for centuries of peoples called 'English' and 'Japenese' who have built wonderous monuments and statues. Now, I say, this is the time to find out if these people are myths or civilized people like ourselves, who we can live with. That's why we must build galleys to sail west, into the uncharted waters of the Western Ocean. We must sail west, so we can try to discover the "New World" and find out if it exists. Though some of these missions might be suicide, the sailors who die will always be remembered as heroes to Fanatikos. Because if they find land on the other side of the world, then we can explore and trade with the peoples that reside there. We must know if there is more to this world then uncivilized Germans and barbaric Franks...
ravensfire Oct 08, 2005, 02:10 PM My apologies, I had an article mostly written, but events came up preventing me from working on it further.
Sorry, greekguy.
-- Ravensfire
greekguy Oct 08, 2005, 03:06 PM Papers have been sent out. All articles are great, but my favorite has got to be "Parties...." FA article written by Nobody. the funniest article i've read yet. a big thumbs up to Nobody and all other reporters. :goodjob:
if you experience any problems with the paper or would like to make a comment, please feel free to do so in this thread. thank you. :)

sure thing, i added you to the subscriber list.
vikingruler Oct 15, 2005, 04:21 PM I would like to mention an accomplice of the dastardly Romans, the French. A nation that has it cities breathing down our necks, and one of the main reasons Cologne, Hidelburg, as well as Munich were not razed to the ground. They have a Right of Passage with the EVIL empire of Rome. Would you believe the French allow these filthy Roman pigs to stroll there streets without dumping a bucket of water on them followed by a swift kick in the ass? The reason for this is simple, the French citizens smell worse. Seriously though, they must be conspiring with one another to attack and destroy our righeteous nation. This deliquent duo is very deadly let us deal with this dielemia with some decisive deaths. I mean an armed conflict. We have the forces, our nation is prospering in a Great Republic, we are the technological leader of the vast world. With some more defensive preparations and a few more enlargements of our all-conquering army, France and Rome pose no threat.
*All offensive comment to France is directed at the French in the DG not French people in RL.
Dominus Romae Oct 15, 2005, 07:02 PM greekguy, any mention about the mass riots in three of the main cities of Fanatikos?
Strider Oct 15, 2005, 08:18 PM I had an idea, and sense there isn't much I can do with it, I'm going to give it to you.
When the next elections roll around, interview some of the more "interesting" candidates. Should add some spice to the elections.
greekguy Oct 16, 2005, 10:19 AM greekguy, any mention about the mass riots in three of the main cities of Fanatikos?
yes, i wrote an article about the riots for the next issue. btw, the next issue will come out monday, because i'm waiting on Nobody to submit his FA article. but don't fear subscribers. the end result, will be worth the wait. :)
I had an idea, and sense there isn't much I can do with it, I'm going to give it to you.

hmmm...i'll think about it and maybe implement it for next term's elections.
greekguy Oct 17, 2005, 05:31 PM FEN Volume 10 has been sent out! Can you believe it people, we have hit double digits! I hope you enjoy this paper. The highlight of this issue is the TWO Verita Chronicles. They are very intriguing. if you experience any problems, did not receive the issue, or want to post a comment, please do so in this thread. greekguy Nov 05, 2005, 07:10 PM ok, Volume 12 has been sent! sorry about not sending out an issue last week, but there wasn't a TC, so there wasn't really any news to report on. also, if you could please press "ok" to confirm the read receipt, so i know you read the paper, that would be great. :)
one more thing: SaaM and Donovan_Zoi have exceeded their PM quota and can't get the paper until they delete some PM's.
greekguy Nov 20, 2005, 06:50 PM Hello everyone! I come to here to today to with a sad news. Today I'm officially announcing the closure of the FEN. We no longer have the support in terms of staff and subscriber interest to keep the paper running. I would like to thank all reporters who volunteered to write articles throughout our 12 issues: Nobody, Ranger99, vikingruler, mhcarver, ravensfire, Strider, and Gerikes. I would also like to thank the paper's 24 subscribers who relished at our news coverage for over 2 months. It was a great ride while it lasted. Thank you all!
