View Full Version : Finding Fun!
gr4ndmas7a Aug 09, 2005, 04:41 PM Hey all, this is my first forum post.. wanna say hi and all that jazz, but hey, what I'm really here for is this.. help!
I love civ.. just as I'm sure all of us do, but there's parts I like better than others. One thing I don't find myself fond of is the modern warfare. You feel me? I like elephants. knights, swordsmen, you get the idea.. well what I want is to play civ 3 conquests without using a pre-set scenario that limits the turns or does a VP victory. I want to fight like roman times till the death.. and not stop half-way cause of a VP victory. I want to play a map where you can do as many turns as it would take to bring your ancient or medieval civ to glory without having to worry about nukes later on.. HELP? I need a link to a good scenario that will do what i need! pleasE!
gr4ndmas7a Aug 09, 2005, 06:05 PM awww... nothing? Is there any kind of map or anything that I can do to make it where the tech tree stops at middle ages? And... that allows me to play a full game??
Padma Aug 09, 2005, 06:20 PM You know, it wasn't even two hours from your original post, when you bumped it. This isn't the chatroom, you know. Your post could go many hours without a response. We ask that you don't bump your own threads until 24 hrs after the last post.
That said, I don't know of any *specific scenarios, but you can search through the Creation & Customization/Scenarios subforum. I will also move this thread to C&C, to get you more help.
Commodore Aug 10, 2005, 05:13 AM There's no way to get rid of the turn limit(although you can set it to a 1000 turn maximum), but you can disable VP victories and any other victory condition in the editor. As for not going into the modern times, it would take some time, but you could mod the game to only take place in the ancient or medieval eras.
Here are some links to some ancient and medieval scenarios for you to check out: Kosovo Battle 1389 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=121206), Going Viking (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=89569), Rise of Rome (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=124748), Peloponnesian War (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=123722), The Rood and the Dragon (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=105759).
Don't know if these are what you're looking for but none of these have any modern warfare and there are plenty more like these in the Completed Scenarios forum.
The Last Conformist Aug 10, 2005, 03:55 PM You should check out The Ancient Mediterranean (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=23420), a superb mod covering the time from the Neolithic to the early Middle Ages.
egroen Aug 10, 2005, 04:39 PM What The Last Conformist said, and you might like some of the fantasy themed mods, where you never really get beyond the middle ages (Warhammer, Master of Myror, Mystara, and the forthcoming Lord of the Mods). I'm telling you though, once you play a good mod, you will never go back to playing regular civ again :)

R8XFT Aug 11, 2005, 11:48 AM Anno Domini's coming out in just under four weeks - it's an epic mod based on the ancient era and middle ages, more techs and units than the normal game, lots of new leaderheads and other graphics. It ends up in 1200AD. Might just be the sort of thing you're looking for! Check out the website and thread here at Civfanatics using the links in my signature :) .
Plotinus Aug 12, 2005, 05:09 AM Actually, I think R8XFT's mod will be exactly what you're looking for. It's got some pretty serious knights, elephants, swordsmen etc of every conceivable variety, and none of that nasty post-medieval nonsense that you get in the standard game!
gr4ndmas7a Aug 13, 2005, 03:24 PM hey I was looking up that mod and checking what it's about and man oh man does that not hit the nail on the HEAD! I WANT IT NOW! GIMME!!
