View Full Version : Where to found Olympus
DaveShack Aug 11, 2005, 09:38 AM Since the eldars are divided on where to build our new town, I have placed stones representing the directions we might move to avoid trampling this lovely wheat. Each citizen should go stand by the stone representing the direction you want to go. Those who don't want to pick any of those locations may stay here by the meeting fire and tell us your alternative idea.
As you look around, this is a representation of what you see.

vikingruler Aug 11, 2005, 11:25 AM E is the best location to found Olympus.
Civlord Aug 11, 2005, 02:41 PM I'd think about C, where the presence of two rivers (how should we name them?) and the wheat grants abundant food.
greekguy Aug 11, 2005, 03:26 PM I'd go with location E.
Gerikes Aug 11, 2005, 06:00 PM I'd say C. If we need to cut down forests, we'll have the forests from the NE and SE of point D along with the forest next to E. We might have to wait five turns, but I think we'll have plenty of things for our worker to do in the mean time. ((You can't see the forests next to D in the screenshot shown here, check out the screenshot here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=125997)))
Donovan Zoi Aug 11, 2005, 10:15 PM Gotta go with E on this one, hands down. With E, we are assured of at least two hills for production --- we have no such assurances with C.
Provolution Aug 12, 2005, 07:53 AM Vote C, we need that great position for maximizing our initial growth and security, productivity will never be a problem, bbut security will be a bigger one. Besides, C is loaded with food and commerce bonuses, and is facing North, where 95 % of the land is to be found, as we are on the Southern tip of the Worldmap.
Get us two more votes, C at 7, E at 9.

Ditto. Food is important, but IMO in a 5CC less important than the number of shields our citizens can produce. Location E has enough food to be able to support a size 12 city and its production potential is far better than C (or at least it is from what we can see of the map).
However, before we make any decison, have we discussed whether we should move our worker west to the hill in order to get a better view?

That would be a good idea. I agree.
