109 gold for WC with the french, is the only acceptable one. I think archers would be very valuable now especially with our tiny army as well the threats the french, romans, and germans and the hope to defeat the barbarians and claim their gold.

We might not be the first one to writing, in which case we'll be looking at paying cash for pretty much everything, unless we manage to research a 3rd tier first. With this in mind, my gut feeling is to accumulate cash so we'll have enough to buy resource techs (IW and Wheel).

Let's get Mansory and The Wheel from France. These are two important technologies. Then I would suggest trading Pottery, but only after other civs discover it. For now, it is too expensive to buy it from Rome.
