View Full Version : forests : homogeneous worthy compil
Bobeugen Aug 23, 2005, 05:37 AM This set of forests does not result from my work : I've grabbed these, months ago, on this forum. Unfortunately, I don't know who should be granted : I don't find any link to this set (I suppose they were in an ancient release of Snoopy's terrain but can't swear it).
Nevertheless, they seem to interest at least one fellow member, so here they are! :xmas:
Note : IMHO, the two main strenghts of these graphics are that
plains forests are immediately distinguishable from grasslands forests (after all, there's no reason why this information should be secret :nono: : peoples don't need to chop trees to know if their neighboring terrain is dry or wet).
roads fit well with these graphics (okay, there are prettier forests graphics, but then, once roaded, there is this strange feeling of flying roads, lying on the tops of the trees :hmm: ).

Note : works with [civ3], maybe also with other civ-flavors.
Unzip,
backup ...\Civilization III\Art\Terrain\"everything with forests in its name".pcx,
then replace the parts you want.
Louis XXIV Aug 23, 2005, 07:46 AM Very cool. I especially like the plains Forests
MeteorPunch Aug 23, 2005, 07:50 AM grassland and tundra are both Snoopy's. I've seen that plains forest before, but don't know who is the maker.
ansar Jun 11, 2006, 06:22 PM is there any way to replace the grassland pine forest with the plains pine forest?
Mirc Jun 12, 2006, 09:40 AM Yes, it is possible to.
ansar Jun 12, 2006, 10:23 AM well, and still keep the other grassland forest? ;)
Snorken Jun 12, 2006, 01:14 PM Sure, you just have to do some cut & pasting in the grassland forests file.
ansar Jun 12, 2006, 01:52 PM could you tell me how? It would be greatly appreciated.:)
Snorken Jun 12, 2006, 02:22 PM Well, it's easier for me to do it for you, than to explain how to do it. Here you go:
ansar Jun 12, 2006, 03:44 PM Thank you Mr. Gardener Smurf.:worship: :D

Snoopy as well, if I remember correctly- interestingly I still use these, his earlier forests (with a few minor tweaks). Though I replaced his jungles with someone else's- made a whole lot of an improvement in looks- much more dense feeling to the "impenetrable wildness" of the Jungle- btw. an interesting feature is to give jungle tiles the "causes disease" flag.

ansar Jun 19, 2006, 09:22 PM this set of [tundra]forest looks strangely familiar to the plains pine forest, except with snow. :scan:

anyone know where I can get it? :)
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 20, 2006, 06:14 AM hard to tell with all those roads-railway-fortress-mine-unit clutter

Can you share the jungles please :)
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 20, 2006, 06:52 PM there u go :)
BadKharma Jun 20, 2006, 07:07 PM Thank you very much Winter.
ansar Jun 20, 2006, 10:39 PM is this picture better?
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/tundra.JPG
Virote_Considon Jun 21, 2006, 07:56 AM I recognise them. If you find who made the "Blue Pollution- like Oil", I think that it's easier to find the trees on their site... but I'm not sure...
EDIT: Here? (http://www.ccj39.com/civhtml/civ3.php)
ansar Jun 21, 2006, 08:42 AM doesent look like the trees, but thanks anyways. :)
i think it would be eaiser to know who originally made the forests in the first post. :scan:
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 21, 2006, 03:44 PM nope the trees are yet from a different set- but I thought u were after the tundra... ;) not really sure where those trees were snatched from :(
