View Full Version : Third City, anyone?

Within the possible 15 turns I'll be playing on Friday, we WILL have a third settler pop up. I'd hate to end the chat because we don't have an inkling of where to put it. We know a bit about the area surrounding us. However, we still have too much fog surrounding us. This is a 5CC. Remember that.

Load the save up people. We need to come up with a location so we can put these stables down by the end of the chat.

PS- North, anyone?

I agree with you. Perhaps that city can be founded North, near the sugar and the gold.

Here's some ideas. I would prefer pink, then blue (yes, there's overlap, but I'd prefer superior tiles)

Both the pink and blue dots look like great spots. Decisions, decisions...

pink dot all the way! :p i can't see all the coast and SE land to be certain about that area, but the pink dot is definitely good

...and pink dots always have mystical powers

Perhaps on that red dot that is sandwiched between the sugar and the fish should be a good site to build on.

I agree with CivGeneral. The Red Dot gives us a coastal holding as well as two bonus resources that could bump up the population. Plus it isn't too far away from home.

sorry, but the blue dot is waaaaay better than either red dot.

As the Mayor of The Augean Stables I would like to have the pink dot be the city site. I think the top red dot would be better suited for City #4.

I agree with the king of the stable boys. Pink was what I was thinking too.

Leave that crazy governor of city 4 to deal with the harbor city... :)

SaaM (should I thorw this up to a quickpoll or can someone else grab that as I scour the internet for college aplications?)

edit: 2 things
1) does the mystical pink dot get us the river? if not, we get both of those golds, right?
2) no to the blue. theres OVERLAP. this is a 5CC. we cannot afford ANY overlap.

I think the blue dot is good but the pink has better land. Our mentally unstable governor of city #4 can have a costal city. of course the pink dot is close to rome and france so we could be risking the city by building that close. I mean we can build our 4th or 5th city there, once we get a real army with some hoplites, archers, etc...

pink, Styx should be on the sea

Yes, it is on the river.

i'm not sure, but my guess would be we only get the gold on the mountain, not the southern hill.

Here's a pic with a city in the position of the Pink Dot. I does get both gold.

now thats a potential city location. river, both golds.
any clue as to how we could calibrate the potential sheild output?

If we do that we could be accused of number crunching.

Here's my idea of our big five.

Hunter green dot is city number three.

Peach orange dot is city number four.

Communist red dot is city number five.

Thoughts?

Problems with both.
Comrade Red could go one square NE to remove the 1 tiles worth of overlap. Orange should wait before we lay out a tile as we still have more coast to explore. That, and I dislike the overlap. (Did I mention I dont like overlapping?)

also- @greekguy: worker instructions and more than just a hoplite. I'm doing more than 15 turns here.

I am torn between the orange and the green dots :ack:.

I would stick with RegentMan's plan but move red and green 1NE each. As SaaM said, overlap isn't my thing.

After looking at the map and the "Gold Hills" (So sue me if one gold is on a mountan :p). I find that the green dot location is more towards my taste in gaining an income of gold.

I want a lawyer. The gold is on a mountain :) .

Now we have this dilemma. The Red dots would be a fertile spot where we can start sea exploration. But the pink dot is a good strategical spot where we can defend Olympus and the rest of our territory from a French attack and keep an eye on the French troop movement into that region. In the future, when Joan d'Arc tries to expand, the french will possibly settle that area. And if they settle the pink dot area, then Olympus would be severely threatened. I would choose the pink dot first for strategical reasons, but in the future we may consider the red dots.

I do beleve a poll is in order. But Ill leave that to the original poster to post a poll in regards to this topic. I certanly dont wish to step on anyone's toes ;).

We're using the Hunter Green/Pink dot.
Even if a settler is popped before writing is discovered, I'll just head him westward. He's moving to the coast, the one after this. This one is going on Pink Dot.

So sayeth the thread originator
So sayeth the DP
Even so, sayth the spirit.

We may want to rethink the location of the next city (city 4) - there are 2 cows in the that fog NE of the the Warrior by the blue/red dots!

I (moo) agree with putting City Number Four by the cows. A harbor with cows... think of the possibilities.
