View Full Version : Apology from your Vice President
Strider Aug 26, 2005, 07:10 PM I'm sorry for my inactivity over the pass few weeks. Some health related issues have kept me from committing the time I should have to this. I know I failed the confidence of those who voted for me in the Presidential election. However, I plan to remedy this. Although I will not be running for any poistion next time, as I've committed by time elsewhere (see the DG elections for more info), but I will try to be more active in the team.
Sorry to fail you guys, and I'll try not to let it happen again. Anyway, I'm back and in full health (not counting the caffiene headache)!
So, who's ready to kick some major ass?
Edit: Just for you guys know, it was nothing major. A mixture of the flu and then strep throat right after.
Paddy the Scot Aug 27, 2005, 12:11 PM Hi there
I new, Nice to meet you. :)
Provolution Aug 27, 2005, 12:26 PM Great to have you back, Crown Prince, I hope you can make preparations for relocation of capital farther south and a numeric assessment on gains and costs. :D
Possibly Tim Bentley is good to have there, as I saw his corruption calculations in DG5.

Farther south to appro. where? Just find the best location?
Provolution Aug 27, 2005, 03:06 PM I guess our center must be in teh fertile lands north or east of the Blast Range, since we need all the shields we can get for the war. I guess we can population rush the peripheral north later in order to gain more units, but I fear corrupted shield production.
Having a capital far north is not a long term solution, so we should plan this right away.
Tim Bentley, do you have any numbers on where we should place our capital around that mountain range, based on waste and corruption calculations for small map=
Or Strider, have you any idea on the impacts of palace relocalization or forbidden palace build ?
vbraun Aug 27, 2005, 03:08 PM Are you saying we should move our capital?!?!?! Thats at least 10 immortals we could have. We should not move our capital!
Provolution Aug 27, 2005, 03:11 PM I said we need to look into the numbers, I am not proposing any yet.
Strider Aug 27, 2005, 03:46 PM Or Strider, have you any idea on the impacts of palace relocalization or forbidden palace build ?
Well, a forbidden palace build will just give us a short term production lost, but were gain that back in both production and commerce later on.
However, relocating our capital could be diasterous. We are already receiving the bonus from it, so moving it would just make the bonus vary from city to city. However, the Palace costs about twice as much as the Forbidden Palace, so building it would be almost twice as costly for us. As for disbanding our capital to move it, I'm not 100% sure how that works. I can almost guarantee it will move the capital to one of our core cities though, so the movement effect would still be minimal.
I say we leave our capital where it is, we've already built our cities to form "around" our capital. Relocating our capital at this stage of the game, or even 30 turns from now, wouldn't be the wisest choice.
Provolution Aug 27, 2005, 03:57 PM Newsflash, we got iron close to the capital, so I guess we will be stuck with this build.
Provolution Aug 27, 2005, 07:20 PM I checked the Civipedia
The Palace costs only 100 shields, or the value of 3.33 Immortals. If a capital relocation can save 150 shields over X amounts of turns, it is well worth the investment. We should rather relocate palace south for 100 shields and cash in shields and commerce around hills, mountains and rivers, than to misplace Forbidden Palace for 200 shields, as we plan to place Forbidden Palace much much closer to our southern neighbor.
So get to it, it is only 100 shields!

The cost of the Palace and the Forbidden Palace varies on how many cities you have. Atleast, it use to vary.
Anyway, I'll do the research and post it as soon as possible.

Have you read this (http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3/strategy/c3c_palace_cost.php) article?
Provolution Aug 27, 2005, 08:56 PM Vbraun, thank you, now I know better how to present a better analysis for this.
I am sure this info will delay it, but not eliminate the idea.
I put up another thread for it.
