I am your new Minister of Foreign Affairs (duh). Many people know me as last terms runner up and the manager for The Infomant. I have always wanted a position as a Foreign Affairs Minister: Last Term, Last Demogame, last week in RL.

Well, from the looking of the thread title, it looks like were making a chocolate milk commercial.

Hehe. Well my plans are very simple:


Embassies are going to play a key role, if not this term, then the next. Rome is suspected to have joined the Franco-Prussian War as they are moving troops into Germany. Persia has retained neutrality. I plan on keeping Fanatikos neutral for as long as possible. We should, however, utilize the resources found near Civatonia and inside the Augean Stables (What a riot that was). The conflict is spreading and the Augean Crisis, that was an over reaction, could bring us closer to war. I plan on not getting involved directly. I propose an Embassy in at least one of the nations involved in the conflict: It will give us a better view of what is going on. It can also help one of the civs involved. We should wait and see which one is taking a harder hit. We can give diplomatic aid to that civ by:

Giving an ROP
Trades of Luxeries and Resources
Severing Diplomatic relations with thier enemy

So my plan is to:

Do you think we should help France? I cannot think in any significant for now, as WE are the ones who need help. Perhaps we can think about a totally neutral policy. We must not build embassies now, as our gold is short. If the other civilizations demand tribute, then let's pay them without protesting. First, let's spare all the gold we can and avoid spending it until we are forced to do so. We must work the terrain, develop commerce and build more improvements. Let's concentrate on the GL. If we get it, then we can think about the embassies and a more aggressive foreign policy.

The policy I propose gives aid to both france and us. If you give help, you will recieve help. Remember that the more an AI is involved a war the less science output it will make. If we get Germany and France more involved in their conflict then they will slowly decline in the technology race. If we give help to Fance then their mood will rise with us as well as having the advantage of their armies draining the power of their science. We need to get the two more involved in the war. I can't say about Rome because we don't know if they are involved. I plan on military neutrality, but I will give diplomatic aid, even if we do not have an Embassy established with them.

As for the improvement of our land, I have little say in it. I agree that we should get Philosophy and then Literature and contruct the Great Library. I did not say exactly when I was going to give an order for the Embassy to be built: We should get Philosophy, trade it around, and then we give better diplomatic aid to the French. Without an Embassy I can promise little to aid the french cause, other then to allow the french to move through Fanatikos and to not talk with the germans. We should do just that until we are ready for an Embassy.

But how are we going to get the gold? We need to approach that with caution, as our funds are running low and we must spare every gp we have. I agree that we should throw the AI civs against themselves, but here is my question: can we really do that? Can we keep them at war for enough time to significantly halt their science and culture? My fear is that if we sign a ROP with Joan d'Arc she makes peace with Bismarck. Then we will be wasting money with an embassy. The AI is unpredictable.

However, a competent foreign policy is what mr. Icmancin "Kissinger" will certainly be able to do.

As we recently saw in the last turnchat, now we know that Rome is in war against Germany and with France. What are we going to do about it? What are your plans for the current situation?

I the situation is now going in our favor. Aristotle, our Science Leader can give us funding and construction for our Great Library and word is that the other officials are hoping for a minimal-no science funding as our library can give us the technologies our nation needs. Alas Rome has joined the ever growing conflict but the Shahanshah of Persia, the aging Xerxes, has retained its neutrality. Caesar in Rome has sadly been overthrown in a successful rebellion like that of The Sherman Rebellion, but more successful, for his lack of ability to join the conflict, and Augustus will now succeed where his father failed. Romes massive Foreign Relations is growing: Rome has established Diplomatic relations with Fanatikos and has signed a de facto alliance against Germany. This is one Embassy less that we have to fund. With Science funding lowering soon then more money will be used for other purposes. Embassy funding can be a usage. French Queen Joan should be regarded with more respect the the German Chancellor Bismarck, as she is less an imperialist and she has gained the support of Augustus of Rome. We must keep to the winning team: The Franco-Roman Alliance to the single handed crusade of the Chacellor. But I am not willing to allow Germany to completely be dismembered. If the tide turns dramatically in the Franco-Romans favour then we should open a demilitarized zone near Berlin.

If I may, I would like to revisit the topic of embassies. To be more specific, I am interested n opening up the German Embassy.

While I know that the idea of embassies failed miserably in recent polls, I think that there is good reason why we should spend the 30 gold on the German one. Right now, our greatest threat lies to the east and its name is Berlin. By building an embassy there, we will get access to vital information such as terrain info, their current builds, number of defensive units.

You can decide the timing of this matter but I would like it to be addressed soon. Rome built an embassy with us last time out and now we can somewhat monitor their capital. For a mere 30 gold, we can uncover a big part of Germany's mystique in similar fashion.

Yes, I believe that we should make an Embassy with Germany and also France. If etheir side takes a massive loss in the war we should be prepared to ggive osme form of aid. With Germany, being alone, would be a good target for an Embassy: Like you said it would give us vital information that we cannot normally obtain. I would also like to point out that with the drop in science funding, could it be used to fund both French and German Embassies? I would also like to ask if we could build up a German Expeditionary Force (GEF) for special purposes such as:

In the event of War, the GEF will be responsible for blockading the German capital from enemy soldiers,

They will be the Spearhead of the Defense and Offense of German Campaigns,

And finally, a Garrison for the German city we take.

I am onlyasking if this would be possible. I will make it top priority to open Diplomatic Relation with the German Empire, and will make it a priority to install one with France.

Recently our nation has been gearing its self towards war with Germany, and a allaince with France. I think this against the Foreign Affairs Ministrys current policy

So my plan is to:

Does this mean we are changeing our policy (not thats theres anything wrong with this) or not? I think that France is a bigger threat to our nation, and i urge you to plan diplomaticly for a wester orintating war.

Minister, you have hinted that you might create the war polls for a declaration of war against Germany. Please do so. The minister of defence has posted turnchat instructions ordering the capture of Berlin. I will not execute these actions until your polls are up and their outcome is known.

We're now at war eith Persia, possibly in a proxy fight, possibly in direct conflict.

What options are available to us, and what are your suggestions on handling this matter?

Also, thoughts on our response should other nations join with the Persians and join in the attack on us (especially France and Rome) would be greatly appreciated!

I myself am fighting a civil war between myself. This Second Front is an Axis attempt to destroy my mind. IT WILL NOT SUCCEED!!!!!

Anyway, I do not thik that an offensive would be needed. What we need is ROPs with Rome and France, they will be less inclined to assault us during one of those. Being attacked by them is our biggest threat. I do not want to attack Persia but we should at least begin a buildup of Arms so if the event comes we will be prepared to counter-attack.

Including to me. Nobody, will you be running for Foreign Affairs Office?

The Persians are willing to join us in peace talks, and have dropped their absurd demand that we pay them tribute in order to stop their pathetic military campaign against us. We may even be able to get them to pay reparations.
