View Full Version : Newbie Succession Game
benjdm Dec 22, 2001, 04:51 PM Well I started one. Standard size map, Roaming barbarians, Middle of the continents for land mass, normal wetness, temperate, 4 billion years, we're Greece, Warlord level, 8 civs total, all victories allowed. First person to reply to claim a spot goes second.
4000 B.C. - We are sitting right on top of a luxury ! I move the settler one tile northeast for what looks like a better spot for a city and start building a road to the lux.
3950 B.C. - Athens founded. Cow resource discovered to North, production of warrior started for exploration.
3900 B.C. - Our scientists begin studying Iron Working. They say it will be 40 turns before we discover this secret.
3700 B.C. - Finish the road to the luxury (I think it was dye, having trouble remembering), warrior completed for exploration, production of hoplite started to defend Athens, goodie hut discovered to southeast of Athens
3600 B.C. - The Numidian encampment gives us a warrior.
3450 B.C. - Our borders expand. Have discovered jungle to our east and ocean.
3400 B.C. - Incense is discovered NE of Athens !
3350 B.C. - More incense discovered NE of Athes !
3300 B.C. - The encampment of the Etruscans is deserted.
3250 B.C. - Goodie hut discovered northeast of Athens. Spotted a light blue border also to the northeast, don't know who it is yet.
3150 B.C. - Mycenaens teach us ceremonial burial and we make contact with the Chinese. We trade them 16 gold + ceremonial burial + alphabet for masonry + warrior code.
This seemed like a good stopping point so I saved there. Athens is defended by a hoplite and is currently building another warrior to explore to our south. We got good luck with two of the goodie huts but no food resources spotted yet. Good luck to my successor !
benjdm Dec 22, 2001, 04:54 PM For anyone reading this who is confused, this is a succession game that got started in this thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12415
So far Donsig, Gumby3000, and Thiazi have shown interest. I hope they play !
donsig Dec 22, 2001, 07:23 PM 3100 BC: New warriors being trained in Athens given bows. Their training will take longer...
3050 BC: Mao asks our warriors to leave China.
2900 BC: Mao asks our warriors to leave China.
2800 BC: Mao asks our warriors to leave China.
through c. 2600 BC: Greece builds up a force to storm China.
2510 BC: War formally declared on China as a band of settlers leaves Athens for the incense laden grasslands to the east.
2470 BC: Chinese build Shanghai on the incense laden grasslands!
2430 BC: Chinese forces routed and Beijing razed.
2390-2270 BC: Greek forces move on Shanghai. As they reach the outskirts of the city General Sigappas succumbs to disease. On his death bed he laments the craziness of war. While he is sure the Greeks will prevail over the Chinese he wonders how many more such victories it will take to destroy Greece...
donsig Dec 22, 2001, 07:30 PM Well, I'm not so sure that what I did was good! We seemed to be confined to a place that is not big enough for two countries. I immediatly set out to build a force (2 archers) to knock out Beijing. I sent the Athens garrison (hoplite) to protect the invaders and included our warriors in the attacking force just in case. Beijing fell easily to one archer and we captured a slave. Our other archer took out a Chinese warrior near Beijing. Unfortunately, before taking Beijing the Chinese built another city right next to where I was sending our settler! I got to Shanghai and my 20 turns were up! :(
I think that Shanghai is China's only city and China must be destroyed so Greece has room to grow. Trouble is our treasury and science rate are nil because of this very early war. My successor has a big mess to fix!:(
benjdm Dec 22, 2001, 08:35 PM Interesting. I usually don't play aggressive early but this could be fun. Thiazi ? Gumby ? Want to take over ?
Thanks for the prompt turn, Donsig ! Makes me itchy to play a few turns !
Sword of Leo Dec 22, 2001, 11:51 PM hey, are there any spots open? (note- can only play sunday-next saturday.)
donsig Dec 23, 2001, 03:35 AM I may be wrong but it's looks to me like we are on a small island. If we are then we'd be really squeezed trying to live peacefully with China. If I have room to grow I' normally not so warlike either.
Anyone object to Sword of Leo stepping in temporarily? It's all right by me. :)
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 08:15 AM I don't have any problem with it - Sword of Leo, take about 15 turns !
LKendter Dec 23, 2001, 08:42 AM This is starting to sound like my Claustrophobic Indian game :p
I started a war during my first 20 turns:satan: Of course, when you have room for 1 city.
Thiazi Dec 23, 2001, 11:33 AM This game is starting off like it is going to be a Battle Royale; only one can survive :D Anyway, I will take the turn after Sword of Leo and I can pretty much play at any time, though I would much rather get a turn in tonight.
Later,
Thiazi
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 01:08 PM Thiazi, if you want to play next before Sword of Leo, just claim it. I'd like to keep it moving along more than keep a specific order. We just need someone to say "Okay, I've downloaded the game and I'm playing the next turn" so we don't have two people playing the same turns.
Sword of Leo Dec 23, 2001, 01:11 PM if nowone has any problems, i'll take the turns tonite:) only one thing, i've never played in a succesion game before, how do you get the patch and post it with the reply?
Thiazi Dec 23, 2001, 01:19 PM You should be able to download the patch from Civ III Official Site (http://www.civiii.com) and if by patch you meant the save file. It should be located in c:/Program Files/Infogrames Interactive/Civilization III/Saves . Then to attach the file, you click the browse button right above submit reply and go to the aforementioned directory. You then select your save file and it should be straight forward from then on.
Sword of Leo Dec 23, 2001, 01:21 PM btw, if anyone wants to they can go before moi. i should post
(if i can figure out how to download the game )by
8 pm USA western time
Sword of Leo Dec 23, 2001, 02:05 PM it says when i try to open alexander of the greeks, that it is not a valid, win32 file, am i opening it with the wrong file? (play civilization 3)  :(   :crazyeyes :o :( :(
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 02:16 PM Leo, it is a zipped file to compress it. You can download winzip for free to uncompress it or I can email you the uncompressed file - it will be much bigger (1 - 2 MB probably) so I recommend the winzip option. You'll have to zip the file to post it when you're done anyway.
Winzip can be downloaded here:
http://www.winzip.com/
It is free, $30 to register if you like it a lot, but free to 'evaluate' indefinitely.
Sword of Leo Dec 23, 2001, 02:46 PM okay, i just downloaded winzip,:) only one question left. Do we crush the chinese or just beat them up till they give us a good enough deal for peace?:slay: :viking: :soldier:
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 04:07 PM Deal for peace - I don't think we have enough of an advantage to easily destroy them this early. But you're the emperor during your reign !
Sword of Leo Dec 23, 2001, 06:44 PM due to unfathomable technical errors, i am unable to smack the chinese upside their heads(refer to benjdm for details)skip me and move on i shall join you next time my turn comes round, save a little china for me:soldier:
donsig Dec 23, 2001, 08:14 PM I think (hope?) China has only one city left. We have enough standing right outside it to take it so I wouldn't advise even talking to Mao until after we take Shanghai.
EmperorSnefix Dec 23, 2001, 08:19 PM Ok, I know I just apperead out of nowhere, but I've decided to step in and continue this succesion. Here are the main events of the rule of Emperor Snefix:
2270BC- Razed Shangai
@2200BC- founded Sparta
2920BC- Razed Shangai(a new one appered)
1990BC- Razed Beijeng, Destroyed all of China
1990BC- expanded Palace
1790BC- founded Thermopylae
1790BC- discovered Iron Working
All the people that might have been wondering, yes we were all on a small island with the Chinese.
So to summarize my rule- I've destroyed an entire civilization, increased the treasury to ten times its' original size, expanded our borders, founded several new cities, and made the people so happy they wanted to build me a palace. A rather succesful reign as Emperor I'd say.
Thiazi Dec 23, 2001, 09:08 PM 1750 - The science rate was increased to 90, we are currently operating at a loss but it allows us to get writing in 22 turns, so that we can get off of this island. There is another civilization, presumably the Egyptians, that are located south of Athens and the sooner we get to them, the better off we should be.
1725 to 1650 – Nothing of note occurs.
1625 – The road to Thermopylae is complete!
1600 to 1550 – Another period of silence.
1525 The temple in Sparta is finally completed and it is now building the Colossus. I am not sure if this will be to late, otherwise we are stockpiling shields for a future wonder. Sparta is more centrally located and it may be a better location for our capital but I doubt moving the capital would make a huge impact.
1500 – Our golden age comes to an end and our settler in Athens is complete. I decided to send him to the hill northeast of Athens. It isn’t a great location but it is an area that we needed to fill.
1475 to 1425 – Yet another uneventful period in the history of the Greeks.
1400 – Sparta’s cultural borders have expanded.
1375 – Corinth is founded four squares north of Athens.
1350 to 1300 – Another period of quiet.
1275 – The temple in Thermopylae is rushed at the cost of 1 citizen.
From now on I will try to be more creative with my reports but I had already written the above text and I really didn’t want to write it all over. My reign lasted 20 turns in a fairly quiet time. I managed to improve our empire’s culture and I even managed to found the city of Corinth. After we get writing (in 3 turns), we should reevaluate our research rates, which are currently at 90%, and do whatever we need to get mapmaking. We our stuck on a small island, with another civilization just south of us and we need land for our empire to grow.
Thiazi Dec 23, 2001, 09:43 PM Here is the save, I was going to attach it to my last post but for whatever reason I couldn't edit my post to attach a file. Good luck to the next leader of the Greeks.
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 10:09 PM So the order for now is :benjdm, Donsig, Emperor Snefix, and Thiazi until Sword of Leo solves his technical difficulties. To keep things moving I'll jump in and take a turn next.
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 10:49 PM 1275 BC - benjdm is begins his second reign as emperor of a Greece that is master of its own island. He surveys the land, finding much military strength but little civilian population after the bitter war with the Chinese. A program of expansion and infrastructure is begun.
1250 Thermopylae completes their temple and starts building a hoplite in preparation for being the garrison for future cities.
1200 Greek thinkers discover writing ! They immediately begin researching pottery, hoping to discover a way to cross the waters to the south and west and visit distant lands.
1125 Corinth completes hoplite. Begins construction of a temple.
1050 Pottery is discovered by Greek thinkers ! The all-important technology of mapmaking is estimated to be 29 turns away.
1025 Athens completes its temple and begins building a settler unit.
950 Thermopylae builds hoplite. Commences producing wealth because the population will not support a worker yet.
850 Athens builds a settler and commences production of a granary. The settler is sent to the northeast corner of the island.
800 Temple rushed in Corinth, Thermopylae starts building a worker.
775 Corinth completes its temple. A fierce debate over future production is settled by flipping a coin and a granary is started.
750 BC benjdm disappears. A new leader emerges...
benjdm Dec 23, 2001, 10:56 PM We still have a bunch of low population cities. I placed military units where I think we should found cities and a settler just reached one of those places. Economy is running at -4 per turn. I started irrigating in the middle so we could branch out from there especially toward the plains on the West side of our island. Good luck to Donsig or Sword of Leo, whoever gets here first !
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 08:14 AM 730 BC: Delphi founded in the eastern jungles.
710 - 470 BC: Jungle clearing, road building, irrigation projects, work on wonders, research on how to get off this island...
450 BC: The Greeks figure out how to make maps. The granary in Corinth abandoned in favor of a galley to explore.
430 - 390 BC: See 710 - 470 BC but add exploration of the sea...
370 BC: Colussus built in Sparta! An island to our north has iron.
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 08:18 AM A new world! An arctic island to the northwest and a hill island to the north east. Another civ lies to the south...
Our tax rate still needs more tinkering - or else we must raise our income level (more roads and cities?)
We do need more cities. I've got one settler started. Working on a couple wonders - the lighthouse seems very important to us! Researching mystiscm for yet another wonder.
Good luck to the next player and thank you to the previous ones for getting rid of China.:goodjob:
EmperorSnefix Dec 24, 2001, 12:13 PM This is a synopsis of the reign of Emperor Snefix II:
350BC- Relocated construction of Great Lighthouse to Sparta
330BC- Contacted our western neighbors, The Zulu, in Bapedi
190BC- Finally balanced the budget so we are breaking even
190BC- Contacted Babylonians in Lagash/ traded Contact with the Zulu for the Babylonian World Map and 8 Gold
170BC- Completed the road to Corinth connecting them to our trade route
70BC- Founded Pharsalos on the northern island with the Iron Deposit, discovered it to be a small island that is ours to own
10BC- Contacted the Russians in Minsk
10AD- Stabbed in the back while delivering a speech to the people of Athens on how we need as many colonial cities on as many islands as possible.
So Snefix II, while not having as an impressive rule as his great-grandfather did manage to double his initial treasury, found a city, expand a little on fledging traveling system, and contact 3 other civilizations.
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 12:46 PM Wow, we are moving right along today!:goodjob:
We need a harbor in the city on Iron Island...
Thiazi Dec 24, 2001, 02:05 PM 10 AD: In a coup the emperor Thiazi II gains power over the Greek government. His first acts are to send the ship near Iron Island to Corinth and the ship near the Zulu Nation to Athens. He decides to let the ship near the Ruß to continue scouting.
30 AD: The dastardly Iroquois have completed in the Pyramids in Salamanca.
50 AD: A second Iron Island is spotted north of Moscow and a ship is sent to scout it out. Our workers have completed the road to the iron mine at Pharsalos (sp?). Thermopylae switches from Pyramids to Oracle.
70 AD: Curses! The second Iron Island is uninhabitable. A group of settlers is completed in Athens and they will be sent to the vineyards on the Zulu’s island.
90 AD: Another ship is sent to Athens. Our scholars have mastered the secrets of literature! They will now focus their attention on the study of many Gods.
110 AD: In an effort to boast our slowing understanding of the world around us we trade our knowledge of literature and 10 gold to the Zulus for their knowledge of philosophy and the wheel. We then offer the Zulu our territory map and they are willing to give us their knowledge of horseback riding, their world map and 5 gold.
130 AD: The dastardly Babylonians have completed the Great Library!
150 AD: We have sent a convoy of slaves to help develop our future holdings on the Zulu’s island and we have decided to put more of our efforts towards scientific research (science is now at 70).
170 AD: Another group of settlers is complete in Athens and they will also be sent to the Zulu’s island. Athens now focuses its attention to the great task of building a library.
190 AD: In a relatively calm time our workers continue improving the infrastructure on our main island and two of our ships reach Athens.
210 AD: The harbor in Corinth is rushed to completion but at the cost of half of its populace (1 citizen). After meetings with the Babylonians and Zulu’s we find that they have already mastered a code of laws and we decide that it would be more prudent to purchase it from them, instead of researching it ourselves (science is lowered to 10). Our second settler is sent of to the northern part of the Zulu island.
230 AD: Corinth has completed its harbor and now focuses its attention on the construction of a library. The coastal city of Knossos is founded on the northernmost point of the Zulu island and it begins to establish its first band of warriors. Disease has ravaged the jungle city of Delphi (1 population point lost).
250 AD: Another period of relative peace and infrastructure development.
260 AD: Our workers have established an iron colony on the Zulu island.
270 AD: In the middle of the night, the emperor Thiazi transforms into a falcon and it is thought that he may be headed towards Valhalla. /** Yeah, that was a lame reference to my name but I’ll get better at these updates. **/
Our treasury should be in a little bit better state than it had been. We should try to trade for the code of laws and any other technologies that we are missing. I would hesitate to give up our world map but I guess it is the next rulers call. On my final turn a settler landed at Knossos, we should use him to grab the open supply of wines but it may not be a bad idea to use him to secure our source of iron. We gained four new technologies during my reign but I still feel that we are advancing slower than we should. After we buy code of laws and whatever other techs we need, we should readjust our science rate but again this will be the next rulers decision.
Thiazi Dec 24, 2001, 02:59 PM Here is the save from the game and good luck to whoever is next.
benjdm Dec 25, 2001, 02:05 AM I've got it, playing now. We're going pretty quick !
benjdm Dec 25, 2001, 03:00 AM 280ad - benjdm III rises from among the people and claims the throne. Athens completes its library and begins immediate work on a settler. Temple is rushed in Delphi at the cost of one citizen. A warrior is dispatched from Athens to Zulu Island to be a garrison in the new city planned there. We buy code of laws from Babylon for 53 gold.
290ad - Delphi completes its temple, starts on a granary. Galley west of Knossos continues exploration. Zulus settle Tugela along coast well SW of Greek Iron colony. Polytheism research started.
300ad - Settler reaches hills of Zulu Island.
310ad - Argos built on Zulu Island ! Production started on worker.
320ad - Greek warrior moved toward Argos for garrison duty.
330ad - Athens completes its settler and sends him east. Delphi's borders expand ! We sell Philosophy to Russians for WM, TM, and 29 gold.
340ad - Knossos completes its warrior, begins work on a temple.
350ad - Settler reaches planned city location.
360ad - Babylonian warrior and settler land South of Sparta ! Mycenae founded south of Sparta, worker production begun.
370ad - Russians are building Oracle. Babylonians invade our territory ! benjdm III considers warning them off but decides to wait.
380ad - Athens completes another settler, sends settler toward last surveyed city location on Greek island. Looks like we're racing the Babylonians for it and we should get there first. Athens begins production of hoplite. benjdm III retires.
benjdm Dec 25, 2001, 03:04 AM Our economy is still set at 90 % taxes. I experimented with lowering it but it wasn't helping our research very much so I left it as is. I don't think we're going to get Oracle and very iffy on Lighthouse but I leave that up to my successor. The settler has orders already to move up to the NE part of the island where the archer is for the last city on Greek island. I wanted to settle the island before someone else landed on it and it looks like we were not a moment too soon. If we ask the Babylonians to leave right now they'll either declare war on us or move to just outside Mycenae where they might found a city anyway. Good luck !
donsig Dec 25, 2001, 04:35 AM 420 AD: Russians land on our island!
430: Herakleia founded just in time to prevent a Russian city on our land!
440: Zulus build Oracle - we get an expensive courthouse in Thermopylae.:(
460: Shaka extorts our map from us.
490: Hammurabi establishes an embassy in Athens.
510: Babylonian ship near unsettled NW island!
540: Traded maps with Catherine.
550: Zulus land on unihabited NW island!
560: Babylonians are fisrt to colonize NW island! Ephesos founded near Zululand.
590: Thessalonica founded on NW island.
donsig Dec 25, 2001, 04:38 AM We need a new government but we are taking forever to research anything! I tried upping the science rate to no avail.
The NW island is crowded. I think this is where the wars will start.
Thiazi Dec 26, 2001, 03:27 PM THis is pretty much just a bump but it is now EmperorSnefix's turn.
benjdm Dec 26, 2001, 07:31 PM Snefix or Thiazi, whoever gets here first, grab a turn. Or Sword of Leo if you have figured out where your civ3 game locates its save files.
Thiazi Dec 26, 2001, 08:32 PM I've got it.
My turn has already been played out.
Thiazi Dec 26, 2001, 09:14 PM 590 AD: The great emperor Thiazi after a 320 hundred year absence and peacefully retains the throne that is rightfully his. His first acts are to rush the temple at Knossos and the harbor at Pharsalos. Each city lost 1 population point in their efforts to appease the emperor. Thiazi then traded our territory map to the Babylonians for their world map. In honor of our emperor’s reemergence to the throne, Athens establishes a party of settler to help expand our glorious empire.
600 AD: Pharsalos completes its harbor and starts production of a library. Knossos completes its temple and starts the production of a harbor. Athens completes a regiment of archers and starts the production of a group of settlers. Horrible news! The Babylonians have started the production of the Great Lighthouse.
610 AD: The emperor is generous; he has raised the luxury rate to 10%. The library in Pharsalos is rushed but at the cost of 1 population point.
620 AD: Pharsalos starts the production of a group of hoplites to defend our vital ore outpost.
630 AD: Our settler has landed on the eastern shore of NW Island! We have started the production of a great road from Epherus to Argos! Horrible news! The treacherous Babylonians have demanded our territory map and 38 gold; emperor Thiazi obliges for now is not the time for war.
640 AD: The great city of Rhodes is founded on the eastern shore of NW Island! A group of settlers has been completed in Athens and they will be sent to secure our iron deposit on Zulu Island. Great news! The glorious city of Delphi has completed its library and it will now focus its attention on a group of hoplites. The cultural boundaries in Pharsalos have expanded!
650 AD: We have continued the improvement of our infrastructure.
660 AD: Our settlers have landed on Zulu Island!
670 AD: Our scholars have mastered the secrets of polytheism; may the Gods watch over us! They will now focus their attention on a new form of government called a “monarchy.” Terrible news! The wretched Iroquois have completed the Great Wall.
680 AD: Our diplomats have traded the secrets of our many Gods to the Babylonians for their knowledge of a new government called the Republic. Our diplomats have traded our secrets of literature to the Ruß for 37 gold and their world map. An uprising has occurred in Athens and our government is no more. Experts believe that this state of may last 30 years.
690 AD: Our country is in a state of anarchy.
700 AD: The city of Eretria is founded on the Zulu Island to secure our source of iron; they have started to gather a group of hoplites to protect themselves.
710 AD: Great news! The military has suppressed the revolters and we have now established a representative government to appease the masses. Our leader, Thiazi has raised our science rates to 40% and our scholars will learn the secrets of the monarchy in 20 turns. Our diplomats have purchases the secrets of mathematics from the Babylonians for 80 gold. Some of the townspeople have noticed the presence of a group of Babylonian warriors and settlers on our land; we believe that they our lost and will not be much of a threat.
720 AD: Emperor Thiazi has rushed the production of the Library at Argos for the cost of 44 gold. Our diplomats have established embassies with the Zulu and the Ruß at the cost of 34 gold each. Our diplomats have purchased a group of Babylonian workers for 25 gold and our diplomats have sold polytheism to the Ruß for their world map, 9 gold and 2 gold per turn. They also purchased a Ruß worker for 25 gold.
730 AD: The citizens of Argos have completed their library; they will now focus their attention on the production of a courthouse. Our newly acquired workers are building a road to the silk that is just south of Athens. Our diplomats have sold our world map to the Babylonians for their world map and 4 gold.
Overall, I feel that my reign went really well. We completed several temples and libraries, acquired three new technologies, founded two new cities and switched our government from Despotism to the Republic. Whoever has the next turn should move the ships in Athens out, so that we can immediately begin exploring new lands when we get the Great Library (10 turns). We should look into raising our research rate and when we get Monarchy, we should milk it for all it is worth. I think we will be fine remaining under the Republic but that will be the next ruler’s decision. We should probably start to build up somewhat of a military, right now we are very weak in that department and are vulnerable to losing our foreign territories and we are a good target for invasion. I wish much luck to our next ruler and may the Gods protect Greece!
-Thiazi
cdub Dec 27, 2001, 05:26 AM If there are no objections may I further speed up the game and join. This will be my first succession game but I have been playing since the day it was released. I can post my results within 2-3 hours. I am excited to try this out!!!:D
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 05:57 AM No objections from me!:)
cdub Dec 27, 2001, 06:51 AM I just got done with my 15 turns, behold the work of King Cdub...
740 AD- King Cdub waltzed into his capital and notices the shabby state his military is in . "What to do?" The honorable Cdub asks. The great military council says that we are a weak military nation, King Cdub doesn't allow this to be spoken of his beloved Greece and decides to do something about it.
Delphi- completes and fortifies a hoplite.
Herakkelia- the library is changed to swordsmen
Thessalonica- worker is created
Knossos, Argos, Eretia are ordered to halt there progress at once and hence forth the creation of a hoplites.
....yes a new leader has emerged, and the Greek people beg for the military supremacy that they deserve :soldier:
750 AD- Ordered are galleys into position above Corinth, King Cdub has envisioned a Greek island chain to the north that is free of other nations, the Babylonians were the great Kings first target. The Great King also booted the tresspassers of Babylonia to get out of our territory or taste our steel.
760 AD- The Great King did realized the importance of some culture so he allowed the librbary to be constructed in Thermopylae, but then quickly ordered that swordsmen be constructed.
770 AD- Knossos creates a hoplite, they too are now constructing mighty Greek swordsmen.
780 AD- Athens constructed swordsmen, they are continuing on with another. All military units on the motherland are being sent to Corinth to board the invasion fleet.
790 AD- King Cdub disliked the foul smell (probably himself) that was going through Greece so he quickly constructed roads to the incense and made everything smell so fresh and so clean clean:D
800 AD- Are greedy neighbors Zululand extorted polytheism from us, little to they know about the massive military the Greeks will one day have...
810 AD- Bad news :( The source of iron near Eretria has been depleted. It just so happens that the Zululand city of Umtata has some... King Cdub has visions of mighty armored Greek wheels rolling through Zululand one day.
820 AD- Athens and Delphi continue to pump out swordsmen. King Cdub's military council claims that we no longer have a "weak" military now we have an average one. It wont be long untill Greece is back where she belongs.
830 AD- King Cdub woke up to the bright lights of Sparta's newly completed Lighthouse, Sparta is now also creating swordsmen.
Argos completing a hoplite, a temple is in the works now.
840 AD- The fair citizens of Greece realized how great their leader truly was and decided to make Cdub's one story house into a two story party palace where all were joined in to smoke the pungent weed and drink many, many fine domestic brews  Ohhh but the next morning was a different story :(
Roads to the incense was complete.
850 AD- Pharsalos created a hoplite and was ordered to create another.
Athens- completed yet another glorious swordsmen and then the govenor was instructed to create galley in an attempt to build another invasion/exploration fleet.
Rhodes- completed Hoplite, another is in the works
Mycenae- Library was changed to swordsmen
860 AD- Thermoplae creates swordsmen and then is instructed to create another.
Mycenae- swordsmen are constructed, a worker is in the works to help on the domestic front, more irrigation is definitely needed !
King Cdub's scientist team discovered a new form of government called Monarchy! Now Cdub could actually call himself "king" and his people wouldn't blame it on all the fine greek pungent weed growing across the fertile plains.
870 AD- The invasion fleet of 3 galleys is loaded up and ready for a move on the infidel Babylonians to the north. The city that is my prime target is Zariquim. King Cdubs beloved Greece is in anarchy, when will the madness stop!!!
880 AD- Moved the invasion fleet of the coast of Zariquim. Civil disorder in Sparta.
Well there it is, my first turn on a succession game. I mainly focused on building up are military, it was in a very sad state when King Cdub took the reins'. Our invasion fleet in the north is ready, I would personally wait to halt the invasion until our new government is all set. Well I am excited to see what happens :king:
benjdm Dec 27, 2001, 04:48 PM I've downloaded it, I'll play 10 or 15 turns and post back in an hour or two.
benjdm Dec 27, 2001, 05:38 PM 890 AD-benjdm IV, a monarch bent on conquest, begins uniting the Greeks to form a new government. For the moment, anarchy continues.
900 AD-Anarchy continues
910 AD Zulu Impi & Warrior make threatening moves towaed Ephesus but stay within their borders.
920 AD- Greek monarchy established. Warriors move to secure undefended Eretria. We demand the city of Zariqum from Babylonians. They refuse. WAR !
930 AD-We slaughter Babylonian Warrior and capture two workers near Mycenae. Zariqum is destoroyed in first attack and a settler is immediately ordered to fill the gap. Remaining forces board fleet and head north.
940 AD- Eretria completes hoplite and begins work on temple.
950 AD- Greek soldiers continue marches and land near Shiruppak.
960 AD- Greek attack on Shiruppak fails with losses of one archer and two warriors. Destroyed one of the northern cities and captured the other.
That was all I could do before my eyelids started drooping too much. Babylonians seem pretty weak at least up north. This might turn into a very profitable war if they are equally weak on their homeland. Good luck to my successor !
cdub Dec 28, 2001, 04:16 AM Good work Ben! The Babylonians were definitely no match for our fine Greek steel. Russia is also looming on Greeks north island.... who is up next???---- donsig, EmperorSnefix (if you're still there) Lets keep this game going! ;)
donsig Dec 28, 2001, 07:05 AM I'm on my way to work and can't play until tonight!:(
donsig Dec 29, 2001, 09:44 PM 970 AD: Donsigopoulis forces Russian squatters from Greek territory.
980: Hammurabi asks for peace but will not pay tribute to Athens. The war continues.
990: The people love Donsigopoulis.
1000: Troy founded and Sharuppak annexed.
1030: Ibabanago begs to join the Greek empire and are accepted.
1080: Maps traded with Catherine of Russia.
1090 - 1150: Troops positioned near Zulu mineral deposits...
donsig Dec 29, 2001, 09:46 PM I positioned the bulk of our offensive forces near Zululand. If we attack we should drive for their iron...
Thiazi Dec 30, 2001, 12:13 AM I am not the most successful warrior in the world and if I had everything to do all over again, I would have done a more slash and burn campaign but still we have taken the Zulu’s iron supply and we managed to pick up a couple cities and some wine, so it wasn’t a complete failure. I got the object completed but I could have done a lot more if I had thought my plan through. Anyway, here is the account of my reign:
1150 AD: King Thiazi offers our territory map to the Babylonians as a gesture of good will; we are about to embark on another war and we do not need more enemies. The city of Thermopylae completes its harbor and begins production of a galley. Sparta finishes its courthouse and begins production of a much-needed barracks. Our troops have been dispatched towards the economic backbone of the Zulu Nation, a.k.a. Ulundi. We have sent a galley, along with an elite archer towards the Zulu capitol of Zimbabwe.
1160 AD: The King has declared war on the Zulu’s, may the God’s protect us in this glorious venture! Our swordsmen have defeated an elite Zulu warrior just south of the Isipezi (sp?). Mycenae finishes its library and starts production of a group of hoplites. Eretria finishes its library and starts production of its own group of hoplites.
1170 AD: Umtata falls but at the cost of a unit of archers.
1180 AD: Isandhlwana captured along with two Zulu workers. The road to the iron supply near Ulundi has been destroyed. Horrible news! We have lost our supply of spices and the Ruß refuse to offer them at a reasonable price… After we finish off the Zulu’s, we should focus our attention on the relatively weak Russians. The Babylonians will probably help us get rid of them and after that we can take out the Babs.
1190 AD: Terrible news! The Zulu have recaptured Isandhlwana. Argos produces a temple and starts production of a group of hoplites. Great news! Our glorious warriors have captured the Zulu stronghold of Ulundi, along with its two wines and supply of iron and they have captured the Zulu City of Isipezi on NW Island.
1200 AD: The market in Athens is finished and they start production of a coliseum. The hoplite in Eretria is finished and they begin production of a catapult. We have begun production of gardens at our palace.
1210 AD: We attempt to sue for peace with the Zulu but our envoy is denied. We have purchased feudalism from the Babylonians at the cost of 220 gold and a world map; it is a hefty price to pay but it was a cost that we had no choice but to accept. Our scholars have now begun the study of theology. Sparta finishes its barracks and begins production of Sun Tzu’s Art of War-- how appropriate. Delphi completes its aqueducts and starts walls.
1220 AD: We have a lost a galley in the northern sea. A deal has been struck with the Zulus. We both agree to peace treaties and the Zulu pay us a tribute of 44 gold.
1230 AD: Mycenae finishes its hoplites and focuses its attention on the construction of a temple.
1240 AD: Herakleia finishes its temple and starts a harbor. Eretria finishes its catapult and begins the production of a much-needed harbor.
1250 AD: Thermopylae finishes a galley and starts on an aqueduct. Corinth switches production to an aqueduct. Knossos finishes its library and starts production of an archer.
1255 AD: Delphi finishes its walls and starts on a pikeman. “Pires” added to our palace.
1260 – 1270 AD: Quiet.
Like I said at the beginning, I accomplished the primary objectives of our war but I still felt like I should have taken or raised 3 or 4 more cities. The Zulu’s are now weak and without iron, we should put together another attack force and see if we can make them a thing of the past. We are really putting ourselves in a good situation and if we can get rid of the Zulus, then the Ruß and then the Babs, I see no reason, why we cannot take over the world. I am sorry for not being a great warrior but I always focus more on culture and infrastructure than I do on war. We need to complete the road to our northern cities on the Zulu island and we should extend the road to Ulundi. Good luck to the next person and we should switch our technology to chivalry and if possible we should operate at a loss, if it leads to us getting it much faster.
Thiazi Dec 30, 2001, 01:28 AM Here is the save:
cdub Dec 30, 2001, 04:00 AM I got it! Will post the results in a couple of hours. I like how fast this game is going! :goodjob:
cdub Dec 30, 2001, 05:10 AM King Cdub II takes the thrown... the empire is in a lot better shape then when his father first took over.
1275 AD- The Zulu town of Ngome realizes fow great Greece is and decides to join us :) .
1280 AD- King Cdub II gets a message from the Babs noticing they want some fine Greek silks, we oblige for a price; world map, 3/turn, and 16 gold. The King realizes we need the money so our fine scientists can discover a future tech called chivalry.
1285 AD- The King ups the science output to 50%, an odd idea called "Theology" is now only 7 turns away.
1290 AD- Rizzo, govenor of Athens, tells the great King that a colosseum has been constructed. Cdub immediately tells Rizzo that swordsman are needed for the upcoming fight against the no good Zulu nation to the west, he obliges. In Thessalonica a temple is constructed, a galley is ordered to be built so it can one day send our magnificent armies west. Thermopylae and Delphi are also ordered to produce swordsman. The great general Majikest applauds the King for building up the armies.
1295 AD- Shuruppak completes its harbor, they are ordered to construct a temple. The great citizens of Greece build Cdub II a third story to his palace :D ! The great King parties like it was 1999 and passes out on the bathroom floor  .
1300 AD- Delphi adds to our military strenght by building a swordsman, they are ordered to produce more.
1305 AD- Athens and Thermopylae construct swordsman, there fate lies to the west....
1310 AD- Umtata constructs a hoplite in defense against the barbaric Zulu swine. Our scientists report to Cdub II that they have discovered Theology, we now proceed on to Chivalry.
1315 AD- Heralklia adds to our military strenght with yet another swordsman. Troy completes a Library and is ordered to produce a Temple ( Cdub wonders why it wasn't the other way around  )
1320 AD- In a move that will effect the world in no other way, King Cdub puts on his army fatigues and orders his military to load the galleys and set west for Zimbabwe.
1325 AD- Catherine wants to show The Great Cdub where her home is ( Cdub has no interest mind you :crazyeyes ) and gives her territory map to Greece in exchange for ours.
1330 AD- Shaka orders our galleys out of his territory, Cdub bites his tongue and waits for the coming years.... :soldier:
1335 AD- Shaka does the same thing again..... "just wait" Cdub mutters under his breath. Athens adds to the armies with a swordsman. Our palace is expanded once again, King Cdub II plays a drunken game of twister:beer: , then wets himself and blacks out :( .
1340 AD- Delphi produces swordsman.Four of our glorious swordsmen are unloaded near Zimbabwe, they greet two other brigades in the same location, Cdub II grins in anticipation.
1345 AD- The Babs and us exchange World Maps. Corinth adds to our armies with a swordsman. Argos completes a worker so we can hurry our roads to connect that iron to the rest of our cities. Our palace is yet expanded again... Catherine of Russia has heard of Cdub's wild palace parties and she tries to come uninvited  , Cdub II overdoses on Greek punjent weed and too many Babylonian imports and on his deathbed he was heard saying...." sack Yakutsk to the north, Catherine was not invit.... argh.....( silence)
On this turn I again focused on producing more military units, and again I set up the next ruler with a great oppurtunity to sieze all the glory from the honorable Cdub and ransack some Zulu cities. Zimbabwe is all but ours the next couple of turns. Swordsman are also being produced at arapid pace on the motherland with galleys on there way to load them up, and Chivalry is only 4 turns away! So whoever takes the next turn remember--- The Zulu's are toast and, remember, Catherine was not invited :) !!!
donsig Dec 30, 2001, 08:10 AM Wow, we made alot of progress since last night!
Do we have an official rotation? I'm not quite sure who's turn it is:confused: .
EmperorSnefix Dec 30, 2001, 10:01 AM I think it's my turn. Sorry about screwing the rotation up. But I was busy with the "real world"(I think that's what people call it.) I'll post with my reign in a couple hours.
EmperorSnefix Dec 30, 2001, 09:25 PM The Chronicles of Emperor Snefix III:
1345- Lord Snefix of Sparta starts an investigation into the death of King Cdub. He discovers that the wine the King had been drinking that night was poisened by Catherine of the Russians. Upon discovery of this Lord Snefix is granted the power by the aristocrats to take over the rule of Greece, thus making him Emperor Snefix III. His first act as ruler is to trade Incense and Wines to the Babylonians for Gems, 3 gold per turn, and 13 gold. His second act as Emperor is to demand tribute of two cities from the Russians as repayment of killing the king. When they refuse he declares war against them.
1350- Greek troops commence a siege around the Russian city of Yakutsk.
1355- Our glorious troops raze the city of Sverdolsk. The siege is succesful and we capture Yakutsk.
1360- Repositioned troops to a more strategic location.
1365- The city of Ulundi is converted through culture back to the Zulu. We begin to research Education, through which we will hopefully learn Astronomy and Navigation.
1370- Emperor Snefix III realizing that the troops around Ulundi are not enough to make war with the Zulu and are offending them, decides in his great wisdom, to withdraw them and use them to fortify cities on the continent and help with the invasion of the Russian mainland.
1375- Research spending is lowered, but the extra money is given to the hard-working Greek people in the form of luxaries. We begin the invasion of mainland Russia and blockade Kiev.
1380- Our glorious troops capture Kiev! From here we can secure spices and position our troops for a direct assault on the Russians. An expansion to the palace is given by the people from being so happy about the war and luxaries.
1385- Battles in the outskirts of Kiev.
1390- Position troops to attack Smolensk.
1395- Our troops capture Smolensk, depriving Russia of their only source of Iron.
1400- The Russians sue for peace giving us 22 gold, a worker, and all their maps.
1405- A time for peace: We begin the construction of the Sistine Chapel in Athens.
1410- Emperor Snefix III signs orders sending troops to occupy the captured Russian territory. They are given specific orders to stay out of the cities, but within the borders. Workers are also sent to help repair the roads outside Kiev.
1415- Troops land in occupied Russia. One morning, Emperor Snefix III suffers a heart attack while eating breakfast. Doctors rush to his aid but nothing can be done to save him.
Thus ended the reign of Snefix III, his reign possible as impressive as that of Snefix I. It easily over shadowed that of Snefix II.
EmperorSnefix Dec 30, 2001, 09:31 PM .
EmperorSnefix Dec 31, 2001, 10:36 AM Whoops, didn't attach the file sorry, here it is.
benjdm Dec 31, 2001, 08:44 PM Guys, I won't be able to play until Wednesday night at the earliest. Anybody who wants to take a turn feel free.
Plexus Jan 01, 2002, 03:20 AM King Plexus will start his reign in the morning. If the kings of the past find it acceptable.
cdub Jan 01, 2002, 07:23 AM Go for it! I will follow up after you...
Plexus Jan 01, 2002, 02:02 PM Cool, downloading
Plexus Jan 01, 2002, 05:46 PM Well, I think I did pretty good it being my first succession game, I built two cities and lost one of them, started war w/ the russsians, expanded the royal palace, and quadrupled the treasury. This account is taken from Startacan, a loyal palace servant's, diaries.
1415- "After the death of the last King, the people looked to the newly accquired city of Minsk and Governer Plexus, he was a strong leader and kept the Russian majority from rioting, he was implored by the Greek people to take office and help this Empire to become prosperous once again. When King Plexus took office, the treasury was in deploable condition and our relations were as well. He would make this his main goal, to make this Civilization prosperous once again. His first official act as King of Greece would be to decrease science spending from 40% to 30%. As his first diplomatic act, he gave 10 gold to the babylonians for goodwill, this helped the relations between the two great civilizations. We recived word from the west the the Iriquois finished a project we were working on before we did, Sun Tzu's Art of War. Who the Iriqouis are, i am not sure. Weather they be friend or foe, we will find out in due time."
1420- "Assured that we needed more knowlege of other lands, he (the king) sent out a batalion of men aboard a ship to explore, even though this took several turns and only got us knowlede of a small uninhabitable island, the King said that it was worth it."
1425- "The king knew that the current way we were using our money was unacceptable so, he decreased science spending to 20%. The King visited the Babylonian capital in order to discuss a trade and he traded Chivalry to the Babylonians for Education, a World map, 50 gold, and 5 gold per turn. The loyal people in Sparta celebrated 'We Love King Plexus Day', much to the King's delight."
1430- "Following Sparta's expample, the great cities of Corinth and Troy celebrated 'We Love King Plexus Day'"
1435- "Much to the King's delight, our miners in the southern districts have found two very large sources of gold."
1440- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1445- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1450- "Another city is celebrating 'We Love King Plexus Day', the city of Thermopolis"
1455- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1460- "The king has ordered the devlopment of sevreal settler's groups and archer battalions to scout out new land for new Greek cities"
1465- "One of the king's many projects has been completed, 'The Forbidden Palace'. Why he would want a 'Forbidden Palace', I am not sure but, he is convinced that it is very important."
1470- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1475- "The city of Marathon, north of occupied Umtata district was founded for the purpose of expansion... The town of Plexu was founded as tribute to the king and to absorb important Russian spice colonies in the Moscow district. This did not make the Russians happy at all... Science spending was increaced to 30%."
1480- "We love king day was celebrated in Athens."
1485- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1490- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1495- (no entry relating to the king or the empire was entered during this period)
1500- "Turns out founding Plexu made the Russians angrier than we had first thought, the Russians declared war on us."
1505- "The king attacked Moscow, many men were lost."
1510- "The king has moved to Plexu to oversee the war. 'We Love King Plexus Day' was celebrated in Rhodes and Sparta. We added an east wing unto the palace... The evil Russians have captured my master and burned Plexu to the ground.
1515- "After being tortured and starved in the dungeons of Moscow, the King was beheaded. I wonder what or who this Cdub is i am hearing chanted through the streets of Athens."
-Startacan of Athens c. 1415- 1515 AD
cdub Jan 01, 2002, 11:29 PM I have downloaded and will post results in a few hours, a war with Russia, eh? I can't wait :D !
cdub Jan 02, 2002, 01:40 AM King Cdub climbs the steps of the Palace of Athens and views his kingdom, what he sees is the most powerful civ in the land, with a thorn in its side....the Russians.
1515 AD- The Great Cdub notices his workers are doing strange things, building useless fortifications, they are quickly organized and told to be more usefull. Sparta's walls are sold, they were not needed. The King showed his power by changing everything being produced on the mainland, besides Athen's Sistine Chapel, to war units and barracks. Cdub and Shaka work out a deal, we get Engineering they get Montheism and 60 gold. Cdub realizes that the Zulu's could easily destroy a few of out cities in the south west and we offer them inscence in goodwill. We obtain astrnomy from Babylon for 350 gold (A steep price, but they too were furious with us).
1520 AD- 4 military units are produced on the mainland in one turn :goodjob: ! Delphi is ordered to construct a courthouse (4 production shields is not cutting it for a size 11 city :( ) The Great Cdub is infromed that his glorious Greeks are the most powerful in the nation.
1525 AD- Shuruppak completed aqueduct, swordsman are ordered. Knossos buiulds walls, swordsman are ordered.
1530 AD- An attack on Moscow is successful! We kill a defending spearman. A worker is ordered in Eretria, there are still many improvements to our infrastructure that need to be completed.
1535 AD- Eretria completes its worker, a barracks is ordered.
1540 AD- A couple more attacks on Moscow proves that it is not falling without overwhelming force (ie 5-6 Vet swordsman)...
1545- Mycenae produces swordsman, barracks are ordered. King Cdub discusses with his military council some options, 4 swordsman are shipped to Smolensk to kill the pesky Russians who are destroying our improvements.
1550 AD- Sparta produced harbor, swordsman ordered. Shuruppak completed swordsman, barracks are ordered. Library completed in Izibia, courthouse ordered. Walls in Marathon are changed to Hoplite (there were no units present in this city :( )
1555 AD- Knight in Smolensk changed to barracks (this city can be used as a great military base against the Russians and Babs in the future! :)
1560 AD- Barracks are constructed in the great cities of Corinth, Smolensk (see above!), and Eretria. A swordsman is ordered in Cornith, Knight in Eretria, and a temple in Smolensk (need some culture there too)
1565 AD- Thermopylae produces a swordsman, barracks are ordered.
1570 AD- Colosseum completed in Ngome, barracks are ordered.
1575 AD- Sparta completes a swordsman, another is ordered. Mycenae completes Barracks, colosseum ordered. Marathon produces hoplite, temple ordered. Our Great Armies launch 4 regular swordsman at Moscow, we are defeated (We need 5 vet swordsman to take this town!):( Babylon wants to exchange territory maps with the great king, we accept.
1580 AD- Ibabanagi creates a marketplace (its a size 2 city, wonders why it was ordered  ) so it is sold and temple is ordered. Cathedral in Thessalonica changed to granary.
1585 AD- Barracks in Shuruppak completed, swordsman ordered. Granary in Thessalonica completed, barracks are ordered.
1590 AD- Corinth produces swordsman, more are ordered. 2 swordsman land in Kiev to kill off pesky Russian horseman.
1595 AD- The Great King offers 1/turn to Babylonian in goodwill, they are still furious with the mighty Greeks. 2 knights and 1 swordsman our produced. Barracks are ordered to be constructed along with swordsman.
1600 AD- Swordsman produced in Sparta/ more ordered. Knossos produces swordsman/ more ordered. Cathedral in Argos changed to Granary.
1605 AD- Thermopylae creates barracks, swordsman are ordered. Granary created in Argos, a worker is ordered. Library in Yakutsk is complete, ordered to build temple (wonder why temple wasn't ordered first  )
1610 AD- Swordsman are completed in Shrurppak, more are ordered. Great Greek scientists report to have discovered Navigation, this lets us build Maggellan's great wonder! Sciencetists are instructed to study the secrets of "invention". King Cdub is found dead near the fields of Athens, it is an appearant overdose of Babylonian rag weed.
These 20 turns I mainly focused on completing barracks on the mainland and then just pumping out veteran units when they were completed. I also wonder why cathedrals and libraries where being ordered in cities with sizes with 2 or 3??? These cities should be building temples and granaries. To the next leader---- Be patient with Moscow, load up 3 galleys with 6 vet swordsmen then land them right next to it, may take 10 turns or so but it will garauntee a Greek victory :) ! Good Luck.....
Thiazi Jan 02, 2002, 02:45 PM I started to play but I just didn't have it in me to finish my turns, so this post may as well serve as a bump.
benjdm Jan 03, 2002, 08:45 PM Well everyone, I apolopgize profusely, but it looks like I won't have any time until Sunday to play - work has gotten very busy lately. So please go ahead and take turns without me.
donsig Jan 04, 2002, 06:04 AM The Sistine Chapel was completed in 1625. Heavy fighting around Kiev and our other Russian city. Losses on both sides. We've started pillaging the roads around Moscow. We've reinforced Russian front from Zulu continent. We need pikemen and knights!
Thiazi Jan 04, 2002, 08:00 PM I'll see what I can do with the pesky Russians. (now playing)
Thiazi Jan 04, 2002, 09:45 PM 1650: Purchased contact with Germany from the Babylonians for 90 gold. Traded Germany our world map for their territory map and contact with Japan. Traded monotheism and world to Japan for invention. Purchased contact with Iroquois from Japan for 40 gold. Traded astronomy, our world map and 130 gold to the Iroquois for gunpowder. Traded navigation to the Iroquois for music theory. Traded incense to Iroquois for 11 gold per turn. /** I could have leached out more techs from the Iroquois if I had included incense with one of my other trades but that occurred to me right after my trade for music theory. **/
1655-1660: Moscow under siege.
1665: The Babylonians complete Copernicus’ observatory.
1670 to 1690: Moscow is under siege and shipping in troops.
1695: Our scholars have discovered banking and will now focus their attention on economics. /** After we get economics, we should look into trading it to the Iroquois and try to get some more techs from them. By that point we can afford to upgrade soldiers, buy more techs or do some hurrying with our current stash of cash. We may want to look into upping our research rate to shave a turn or two off economics, we may lose a bit of money in the process but it may be just enough to ensure we get it first. **/
1700: After nearly a century of siege the Russian capital of Moscow has fallen!
1705-1710: Troops march onto St. Petersburg destroying Russia’s infrastructure on the way.
1715: The Babylonians complete Magellan’s Voyage. /** We are still ahead of the Babylonians but their cultural improvements are really starting to bother me. **/
1720: St. Petersburg falls, leaving Russia with only 4 cities. /** They still have that settlement on NW Island and we will need a few soldiers to dislodge them. The war on Russia has cost us a lot of troops and we will need more to take over Russia. We should also look into invading Germany since they lack iron, horse and saltpeter. They should be a pushover, especially after we get military tradition. **/
1725: Destroying Russian infrastructure. Sending workers to newly occupied territory.
1730: Sell education to Japan for their world map, 4 gold per turn and 6 gold up front.
1735-1745: Starving the Russians out. /** We really need to pump out some offensive military, I started to let it slide some and it is starting to lag our efforts in Russia. **/
cdub Jan 06, 2002, 02:02 AM I have downloaded the game, I will post the results in a few hours....
cdub Jan 06, 2002, 03:29 AM The Great King Cdub has once again risen to power...
1750 AD- The Great King decides to strike a deal with Catherine. We demand the cities of Sverdlovsk, Sevastopol, 3 gold, and her world map for our "promise" to not completely wipe her off the face of the planet. We both sign on the dotted line and the Great King grins... ;)
1752-1758 AD- The King upgrades all galleys to caravels. Granaries and marketplaces are ordered across the land. The work force is being moved to more useful locations (i.e. the western land with the Zulu's)
1768 AD- The mainland is once again Cdub's main military machine, Knights are on the production line, along with musketmen and longbows.
1770-1782 AD- The King puts on 50 lbs, grows a full beard, and takes piano lessons  .
1782 AD- The King has order a batch of longbowman over Knights, they are quicker to produce and *cough* Russia *cough* doesn't have a defense against it.
1784 AD- Cdub has overheard some rumors, Germany has declared war on the Babylonians... The Babs need to be weakened up.
1790 AD- Da King purchases Printing Press off the Iroquois for 300 gold. Cdub then turns around and sells Music Theory to the Japanese for 40 gold, 8 gold/turn, and their world map.
There are my 21 turns, I went over one turn not paying attention, my apologies. I signed a peace treaty with Russia for two of there cities. One being that out of the way one in the north
:) . We also have a Right of Passage with them, the next ruler would be wise if they used and abused this!!! I sent plenty of help down there with more on the way. The next ruler will have to decide what to do with the caravels currently being loaded with knights just south of Mycenae---go down south to the Babs and Russians, or west to the Zulu land. Tough desicion. I also qued are research to Military Tradition. Good Luck to the next ruler :king:
