Term 1 thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=125560)

Governor: Chieftess
Deputy: Ginger_Ale

People of Civatonia, I have good news and bad news.

The good news -

We have iron and horses!

The bad news -

Our city is mysteriously at size one, and the warrior that was in the city (Artemis) is nowhere in sight. I have no idea how this happened. The DP did say there were barbs in the area, but ignored my questions as to where the barbs were, and if a save was available. Due to sloppy play, we're somehow at size one, which ruins our growth plan.

i to wonder about the disapperance of the goddess of the hunt. no offense to Nobody, but i did specify to attack with artemis. i said have her spy on the germans to see if they were making a move on the barb encampment, if so attack the barbs. i didn't ever say commit hostile actions on wandering barbarians, and i doubt they attacked artemis. anyway, why is civatonia building a temple. i don't think we have use for culture at this point, i suggest an archer, to dispatch of the barb encampment before the germans get it. if our warrior attacks out of the german threat an loses, the germans will get it. we need a powerful unit like an archer to win easily and quickly to get a valuable 25 gold.

Arg... is there anyway I can have the second post in this thread? (no problem though vikingruler).

Deputy checking in, however. Will give suggested build queues, micromanagment, screenshots, and other random stuff soon when I look at the save.

Deputy's Suggested Instructions for 1500 BC

Suggested Build Queues:
Temple (switched to Library if we get Literature - it's cheaper, has more culture, benefits us more) -> Hoplite -> Chariot/Horsemen (depends if we have Horseback Riding or not)

Suggested Work Tiles:
@ Size 1: BG W of Civatonia
@ Size 2: BG W of Civatonia and BG S of Civatonia
@ Size 3: BG W of Civatonia, BG S of Civatonia, BG E of Civatonia

Suggested Worker Actions: Chop forest SE of Civatonia, mine/road grassland, connect iron.

----------

Deputy's Goals for Civatonia

Goals for Civatonia (in Republic/Monarchy):

At size 12, work the following tiles:
6 mined BGs = 12 shields
1 irrigated horses grassland
1 mined iron mountain = 4 shields
1 irrigated grassland
2 mined hills = 6 shields
1 mined grassland (or bonus grassland if we find one under forest after chopped) = 1 or 2 shields

Total shields per turn: 23 or 24 shields. That is good enough for 2 turn MDIs, 3 or 4 turn Knights, 4 turn Cavalry. This city should become the main military hub of our nation.

i realize the german captial poses a cultural threat to civatonia, but still why spend 30 or more turns for the library or temple when we can get an archer and get 25 gold. at the very least build an archer next instead of a hoplite. we are not at war with germany, and we won't be, i doubt they will risk two wars especially if they see our hoplites.

Archers will be useless against a veteran fortified spear in a capital. We need units that will upgrade well, either warriors -> Swords -> MDIs or chariots -> horses -> Knights -> Cavalry.

We are better off with a horsemen who can retreat if losing.

vikingruler,

Please do me a favor and post a thread about how we plan to deal with the constant barbarian threats coming from the southeast. I would like to see us gain enough strength in that region to have a proactive barb-hunt patrol on alert, It could add a decent amount to our bottom line, not to mention protect Civantonia from future attacks.

Governor Chieftess,

I posted the above in Defense Minister vikingruler's thread in the hopes of rectifying the barb problem in Civantonia once and for all. Please feel free to join in the discussion, or take it to the Citizens Forum.

Respectfully,

Donovan Zoi
President of Fanatikos

i'm afraid you misunderstood me. i did not want an archer to attack the germans, i wanted one to attack the barbarians.

Ah, ok then, yes, I am fine with that, sorry.

I would actually use Civatonia to train troops, from regular to veteran, and from veteran to elite. That increase alone is worth a lot of gold in combat power, that beats 25 gold.
Preserve that village and get your troops up to elite standard. Great Leaders can be one of many ways to get the best out of our cities.

Donovan Zoi

Excellent thought, Provo. However, if we are able to leave the village area "wild," the emcampment would regenerate over time. This would allow us the best of both worlds --- military training and gold. We would just need to find a way to keep Germany from settling there.

Can you bring that point to the Citizens discussion as well?

The one problem with leaving a barb camp in the open (barb farming) is that the AI is bound to send their entire force to go barb hunting. The AI always has a vendetta against barbs.

Zeal off the Barb Camp as Greek Area 51 then, enclose the area.

My fellow Civatonians,
i come to you today to explain the events of last wensday. The barabrains launched a horrible raid apon this fair city, and thousdands of citizens died. There has been many rumors surrounding this tragedy, "German horsemen attacked us", "It was a conspricy from Olympus, to get more military funding" "Nobody forced laboured the area" I am here today to quash these nasty rumors, so we can all get on with our lives. The entire bulid to this tragedy was covered with controvery. Mistakes were made, in the last turn chat. In the last turn i play a group of 3 barabrain warriors moved up to the Civatonia border. 2 facing the city and one the worker to the south. This is where the mistake was made. I looked at the city and i swear i thought i saw two hoplite. I am certain i did. So i ordered one south to protect the worker. Then i relised my mistake there was never two hoplite, but one hoplite and one warrior. By now it was two late and there was nothing i could do. The warrior stood strong but in the end was defeated and two barb warriors rampaged the city. Killing citizens as they went. The governor of the city was trying to contact me, but i was in a hurry and nothing could be done to save the city. The designated player made a mistake and because of slopy style, the truth took along time to come out. But the blame does not lie solely with the poor DP, my mistakes and slopyness did not kill the citizens of Civatonia, Barabrains killed the citizens of Civatonia. I mishandled the defense but i never forced the enemy to attack. For this reason i think our nation should launch a unprecedented campaign to rid the world of terror. Archers should be created and sent to the southern barbs lands. We need to send them a clear message We are not Afraid, they may shake the largest temples of our citys but they can not shake our resolve. They hate what we love. They hate you. I hate yo... i mean they hate FREEDOM!!!! and CHRISTAINY!!!!! we need to put a end to them once and for all so that we may sleep safely in our beds.... thank you and godbless Civatonia.

Governor Chieftess,

Please remember that you will have to post instructions for our upcoming chat (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=127921), scheduled for 1 pm EDT on Saturday. Thanks!

I hope that you are still planning to switch out the Temple for a Library. After that, you are on your own. ;) It may not be a bad idea to build a worker after you hit Size 4, so you can mine another BG.

Don't know how I missed the update. Must not have rechecked when I woke up in the morning?

Anyway, your instructions as noted will have your city rioting before your build your Hoplite. I strongly suggest that you maintain your original plan of beuilding the Hoplites with the remaining shields.

Also, I will not be sending a Worker to Civantonia anytime soon, so if you would like to enhance that 4th tile, you will need to do so yourself.

Governor Chieftess,

Here is a current screenshot of your city:

-----

Also, when posting your instructions, I would like to see the governors follow a certain format to make things easier on the DP. Can you follow this format?

Your Office Here - 1050 BC

Build queue

Item ---> Item ---> Item ---> Item

Worker Actions

Do this
Then this
Then this

City Tile Micromanagement

On Turn 4, do this
When city grows to Size 4, use this tile

NOTE: For tile micromanagement, I will be glad to offer my services to optimize your cities if you do not have the time or desire to do so. In those cases, just leave the following instruction under th the MM section:

I entrust the President or DP with MM duties to correct unforeseen events that may affect the well-being or productiveness of my city.

-----

Please let me know what you think of this plan. This will allow you to make as much or as little of your governorship as you have time for.

Respectfully,

I'll try to get some screenshots + instructions up tonight Chieftess. Do you even have civ on the computer where you are working (you said you didn't have Civ3 open, not sure what you meant - just making blind instructions?).

edit: That is very nice Donovan, I will use it in the future.

Chieftess
Sep 19, 2005, 06:55 AM
Yes, I have Civ3, but I have other programs open (and I can't go into detail about it. ;) ). Anyway, due to the war, we'll definately want to kick up sword production, and make sure the city is at 10spt.

Ahh, top secret work for the government, I get it. ;) Suggested instructions below, give me the ok or the not ok.

City of Civatonia - 610 BC

Build Queue:
Sword -> Sword -> Sword

Worker Actions:
If we can get a worker to come around our city, mine and road the BGs (in this order) W-SW and S-SW of Civatonia.

Micromanagement:
Upon reaching size 5 (7 turns), have the new laborer work the tile W-SW of Civatonia.

Screenshot:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads10/DG7_BC610_Civatonia.jpg

Unless we get a worker(s) over to our city, we won't reach 10spt. Even 8spt (which we should get when we grow to size 5 in 7 turns) will be nice.

To all elected officials:

Due to an eagerness to get a chat during a reasonable time for our overseas players, a severe brain cramp and a possible lack of caffeine, I am resheduling the upcoming game session.

It is now scheduled for Monday, September 26th at 7pm, Central time.

My apologies for any trouble!

Governor Chieftess,

You are scheduled to be the next DP, and can schedule your session anytime from Thursday until Friday evening. ;) Not much of a window at all, but please let me know that you can run this session by posting a Session Instuction thread in the Main Forum.

Thanks!
