Strong objections and concerns about these two (decisions impacting game are within the purview of all citizens, Defense Minister controls military units, President controls works).
Otherwise, great idea, Provo! Good luck with it!

MOTH Sep 01, 2005, 09:18 AM I'm only a quiet citizen, but I plan to move to Priapos until it comes time to tame some foriegn cities. Count me as a citizen for term 2 at least.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 01, 2005, 09:22 AM I second Ravens complaint, but I like this idea. It's really clever (might have to steal it for Styx, but then again all of my good stories are ones I write)
Oh, I'd like to propose a deal. As you know, Styx is famous for letting people "Have it their way." We can do that as we own the cows. I suggest we trade Beef for Wine and Gold (maybe golden bottles of wine?). This way the people of Priapos can have it their way and the people of Styx can get even drunker.
(Authors note: look for the upcoming Styx story where I describe the nations own Sodom and Gomorah! Coming to a pillar of salt near you soon!)
Provolution Sep 01, 2005, 10:37 AM Thanks for the good inputs and favorable responses, MOTH, SAAM and Ravensfire.
MOTH, welcome as citizen two in Priapos.
I will still draft a proposal for empowering the citizens, as Governors DO control the buidqueues, it is only fair that future elections for a city would include only registered citizens. So I think of developing a City Code for Priaposians, and a City Code for Non-Priaposian Fanatakosians, and a Foreign City Code on how to handle foreign workers. Priapos would possibly trade away foreign workers or pop-rush them, as Priapos want to keep its population purebred.

Ditto. ;)

Provolution Sep 01, 2005, 03:06 PM Which means, no foreign workers added, no political instability wanted.
DaveShack Sep 01, 2005, 04:02 PM It is a good thing to be encouraging local government participation, however I am very worried about the implication that Priapos is not subject to national oversight and referendum. For example, if there is a national vote to not build a certain wonder and a city vote to build it, the city vote cannot override the national vote.
Also you cannot restrict the ability of people to come and go as they please. A citizen may join this city and leave it whenever he or she wants, it may not be restricted to the beginning of a term.
Provolution Sep 02, 2005, 06:16 AM Citizenship is a privilege, not a right. In Ancient times, people even had to ask city authorities to physcially leave the place. Ancient Greek democracy was that way. And we need term-locked citizenship for the structure we put in place, with reliable, not fluctating citizens. if some Fanatakosians does not like the City Code, they got a full 4 other, soon 11 other cities to choose from.
ravensfire Sep 02, 2005, 08:28 AM A reminder from the Constitution:
All Civfanatics Forum users who register in the Citizen Registry are citizens of our country, and members of the Assembly. Citizens have the right to assemble, the right to free movement, the right to free speech, the right to a fair trial, the right to representation, the right to request an investigation into possible violations of law and the right to vote. Political parties are not permitted.
You're the Governor - you've got a lot of leeway in running the city. Except for a few things, your ideas are great and I'm looking forward to them. Some of those ideas though go beyond your power as Governor.

Provolution Sep 02, 2005, 08:32 AM Priapos can decide exactly what buildqueue it wants, but the construction of wonders.
Governors have by constitution the full control over buildqueues. I vest that control into the hands of the Priaposians.
admiral-bell Sep 03, 2005, 07:19 PM sign me up. and can I be vice-goveroner

Governors have by constitution the full control over buildqueues. I vest that control into the hands of the Priaposians.
You also have to follow the will of the people. If the will of the people do not want Priaposians' proposed build queues, well, then it doesn't stand.
Strider Sep 03, 2005, 07:58 PM If I come to Priapos, what will be the benefits to me?
CivGeneral Sep 03, 2005, 08:13 PM If I come to Priapos, what will be the benefits to me?
Same here. I wish to know before I comit.
Provolution Sep 03, 2005, 08:35 PM I will seek to create a city law, where the city buildqueues are dictated by the Priaposians citizens, so we can get some challenge to the demogame. Wonders should still be in the national purview, but the city buildqueues should be subject to citizenship.
Ginger_Ale Sep 03, 2005, 08:45 PM So if I am not a citizen of Priapos, I cannot vote/discuss to change the build queues??
CivGeneral Sep 03, 2005, 08:54 PM Sounds good. I am interested, I would like to earn citizenship.
Provolution Sep 03, 2005, 09:06 PM Everyone can discuss Priapos buildqueues, but my vision with 5 city challenge was to get more independent governors, and it would be much more fun to make cities more autonomou entities.
DaveShack Sep 04, 2005, 01:08 AM Here's a hint: if the only things up for consideration are the ones which are agreeable to the majority of the nation's citizens (not just Priapos), and the "citizens only" vote is merely selecting from among items which are already approved, then you won't get any complaints. Leave off items that the national citizenry wants, or put in too many items that the national level doesn't want, and that could result in some challenges.
M4 Sherman Sep 04, 2005, 03:31 PM I want to be a citizen of Priapos.
Provolution Sep 04, 2005, 03:39 PM I hereby appoint Admiral Bell the Vice Governor of Priapos
