View Full Version : Snazzy Idea for a Great Wonder

I had a kewl idea for a great wonder. It's a wonder that you 'give' to another civ. You build it in a city, then give it away, then (i.e) the reputation with that civ can't go below a certain number ever. You could make them a long term friend! Also the wonder would have to do something for them also, maybe like an instant tourist attraction and increase luxury tax or something.

The best example of what i'm talking about is the statue of liberty. France (civ A) builds wonder, gives it to Americans (civ B) and then the two are friends forever! almost...lol...

So how about it? This wouldn't be hard to add in even if it is late in development.

Different Ideas for this would be the Trojan Horse or Small Pox, which would have different effects. Like taking down one pop. in each city for a negative effect or forcing a MPP on the other civ.

I don't consider smallpox a wonder. More like disaster. Whiile we're on the topic, plague in future civ games should have their distinctive strains, eg this area of the world may have this disease while another may have another.

But back to the wonder theme. Wonders counted as tourist attractions in civconquest but it must last so and so years/turns. So you're suggesting that income should be instant, which is good considering that the opera house hadn't last 50 years and it drew millions of bucks to sydney.

Giving a wonder to another civ would be very nice, like a pressie after destroying half their empire.

The main idea of this thread is giving the wonder to another civ, the rest is just example. I'd think it'd be best to just keep it to certain wonders too btw, not all of them.

My comments on this:

-Gifted wonder could benefit both sides with increased trade revenue, access to special political agreements, and a reputation boost (Only when dealing with AIs)
The practical bonus would give a human player a reason to stay with you after you give them the wonder.
-You would have to be at peace, or possibly allied with the other Civ in order to give them the wonder. You couldn't just toss it at a hated enemy and suddenly be the best of friends.

Other than that, it could make a good addition ot the game.

Or, perhaps giving a civ a wonder could be part of a peace deal, kind of like how the Pharoah forced the Jews to build him a pyramid.

Was that part of a peace deal? I always assumed they were just slaves...

The smallpox and Pyramid building ideas are really treading on some dangerous territory. I suppose if it is possible to poison a water supply in Civ or some other such thing then you could be really evil like that.

Its possible that the pyramid thing could be replicated in another way - when slaves are taken (and like Rise and Rule - this should happen more often earlier on) you could drop them into the city which raises food or production, but affects other things.

It's a good idea having wonders that affect other Civ's but it needs to be carefully implemented.

Yeah they weren't really a seperate nation, just a seperate ethnic group living in Egypt

True, they were more or less slaves, but I wanted an example and it was late at night, okay? ;)

I disapprove on principle anything that alters the AI strategies beyond that which would alter human strategies as well.
