Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 03, 2005, 09:18 PM Hello. Having recently gotten Poser(yesterday as of this message), I decided to help out everyone with Mesoamerican scenerios with some leaderheads. Other creators may ask for me to post their work here.
-R8XFT, if you are reading this, I will post, or you can post, your works here when you are done ;)

ShiroKobbure Sep 03, 2005, 09:35 PM did you test that in game first?
is the size 200x240? In the Render options I would increase the quality settings. Move his eyes so that he looks at the player. At the moment it looks like he is watching passing car.
other than that it is a good first head
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 03, 2005, 10:10 PM Hes pissed in the pic and doesn't want to look at you.. ;)
I've tested it in game and I'm pleased with how it turned out, other than the lack of props... :(
ShiroKobbure Sep 03, 2005, 10:14 PM it works fine?
even though the size isnt correct?
R8XFT Sep 04, 2005, 12:22 AM R8XFT, if you are reading this, I will post, or you can post, your works here when you are done ;)
Thanks for the kind offer, but I'll start my own thread, thanks ;) .
I've sent you some tips in a pm; essentially, it's a good start, but take Shiro's advice on size and render quality (I spoke of this in my pm). You'll be amazed how much better it'll look when you've changed these basics. In terms of the actual leader himself, his look is absolutely fine, a good background too. I'm assuming the body size is set at 100%; I'd set it at 120%, getting him nearer to the camera.
I do think that once you've done a couple of leaderheads and start improving the quality with practice, that you'll make a good leaderhead maker - you're keen enough to keep practicing; my other advice is that people will make good comments about your work, but others won't. Some of the criticism will be constructive, some will be blatant damning of your work, so just laugh it off and feel confident about your artwork. However, the thing to do is practice, practice, practice. Get a method (I've sent you mine) and that really helps.
Corn Shucker Sep 04, 2005, 12:40 AM Only one head for now, but I can promise you that it wont be the first!
You mean last? lol... anyway, great first LH! I'm assuming that there was a quality loss in the pic displayed in the first post?
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 05, 2005, 01:55 PM Yes, there is always a quality loss with previews... :(
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 06, 2005, 06:41 PM Second head of this pack is now availbible on the first post!
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 07, 2005, 12:35 AM No comments.... :(
ShiroKobbure Sep 07, 2005, 12:44 AM well I dont know what these people looked like. I would have to research alittle to comment. But I think you should slow down and pratice and try to put more into the heads. Also in the render options raise the quality.
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 07, 2005, 12:54 AM That makes the files bigger though. But I will look into it.
Traianus Sep 07, 2005, 05:57 AM I'll be watching this thread closely. Good work so far.
Anarki Sep 07, 2005, 06:05 AM Excellent another Leaderhead Maker, but you should definately take ShiroKobbure's advice.
ShiroKobbure Sep 07, 2005, 09:41 AM it should only make the AVI large. Once it is made into a FLC it shouldnt be so large. And I would rather have a higher quality rendering so it can fit better in the game
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 07, 2005, 01:22 PM I will remember that when I render next Shiro. Thankyou for the advice... ;)
Traianus: Thankyou. You were one of the people I had in mind for this btw.
ShiroKobbure Sep 09, 2005, 12:59 PM I sent you a gift to your PM box
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 09, 2005, 04:06 PM Thankyou Shiro, I've updated the first post to include credit to you for your work, as well as the two links for the download my friend.
PS: Now that i've gotten into LH making myself, I can see why you don't like doing PCXs...lol. Eventally I'll get to them, and I will probably make some for some of your LHs as well.
ShiroKobbure Sep 09, 2005, 07:37 PM you might want to post previews of all the heads in the first post. I sent you the address to my preview pic in the PM
Hikaro Takayama Sep 09, 2005, 08:55 PM Sword, there's a good LH tutorial in the tutorial forum. Also, I found that it takes less time to render if you render a series of bitmaps into a dedicated folder at the proper 200x240 resoulution. Then all you have to do is take one of the BMP files, reduce it to 254 colors and save the pallette, then use the animation wizard to convert the 121 bitmaps into a FLC, then use the palette you created to get the proper transparency (since the last two colors won't be used by any of the frames, you won't have any transparency issues).
Good LH, BTW
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 09, 2005, 09:45 PM I usually dont have long rendering times, if I do its because my comp frooze... :( I dont know why this is the cause. Thankyou for the advice though. I think you are a class member on this board HM. Wish I could meet you. (I saw Bamboo for the first time in DC, thought it was trees at first..)
Traianus Sep 12, 2005, 06:21 AM I definitely want to use your 'general' LH and the Olmec one by Shiro for Aztec. I don't know much about LH's so forgive me that. Do you have the other static pcx's done for them. You know, the kisses and hearts and all that crap!!
Great work Lads!
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 14, 2005, 03:26 AM Not yet, but they are easy enough to do Tri. ;)
BTW, my best LH yet has just been added to the first post, its a Mixtec Kingpriest. You can see a preview of him by clicking on the Image1.jpg image.... ;)
I'm glad I was able to make some things for your great mod Tri.
odintheking Sep 14, 2005, 04:33 PM The flc doesn't work, :(
RedAlert Sep 14, 2005, 05:34 PM You are truly multi-talented, Sword_of_Geddon. Mods, cities, units (to name a but a few), and now leaderheads - wow! These leaderheads are very creative, and I especially like the hairstyle. Quite unique. By any chance would you be making any more eras for them?
While I'm here, Shrio, that Olmec leader is instantly one of my favourites. I have wanted to see an Olmec leader for some time, and yours is perfect for the job.
I'll be using both your work. Thanks!
ShiroKobbure Sep 14, 2005, 08:00 PM no no
I did that Olmec head in about 1 hour. It isnt good at all haha ^ ^;;;;;

I'm making the LH formally known as Mixtec into an era-specific leaderhead with pcxs and everything. He will be the official Toltec leaderhead and part of the Toltec civ. Sween's one will be moved to the Moche for the Finland and Moche secondary Biq lol.
Traianus Sep 30, 2005, 03:23 AM Just letting you know that your Zapotec LH went into Aztec last night. It looks much better in game than on the preview. Maybe it wasn't perfect but really good work at your first attempt at LH creation. I have no hesitation in using it. :goodjob:
I will be putting the other ones you made in over the next week.
P.S. If you need them, I did many of the pcx's for that LH. I just didn't do the ones with kisses, hearts and bruises yet.
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 30, 2005, 12:14 PM Thankyou Tria, your fantastic! Remember to use my era-pacific guy instead of the Mixtec priest. I'm probably going to redo the first era of that head anyway, since I'm not entirely happy with it to be honest. The fourth era as well...what was I thinking?
