Hi everyone.

The Skaven invasion continues with the Gutterrunner, specialists in espionage from Clan Eshin.

ps. one guess as to what the original unit was :mischief:

Just so you know, I'm working on a Slaverat worker, Poison Wind Globadier, Warplightning Cannon and Warpfire Thrower.

What do you use to make units?

Looks nice, but that tooth looks just a bit too white, It looks pretty conspicous.

Yeah, the teeth are pretty white, but I wanted to make sure you could see them. I tried them with darker colours but they didnt look very good (IMO)

I'd really kill for a Vermin Lord tho (the big demon rat) ;-)

Cant thank you enough, the skaven really are the last of the major factions from WH which arent represented with some civ3 community units.

Yeah, that's looking good. It doesn't have a tail, which at least some of the other skaven has, is that a mistake, as it should be, or just laziness? :)

Not lazy. The Gutterrunners keep their tails tucked inside their cloaks when they are on a mission, to keep it out of the way. Well... that's the story i'm sticking to. I'll probably do another one with a tail if that would be better

I'm planning on greying one of kryten's legionaries and pasting the head you use on him. Don't expect it good, or soon, :lol:. These guys are just too cool not to have a civ.

In the WH fluff, its essentially the "greater demon" of the skaven god, and there is all kinds of background on how only the most powerfull skaven wizards (grey seers) can summon them, but are "loathe to summon what they cannot dismiss" hehe

If you model one, it should stand somewhat taller than the normal skaven.

@ gentimjs: THAT IS CRAZY! This would probably have to be a wonder-spawned unit, so there aren't too many of 'em running around. It is going on the list. Good job! Are there any other Skaven units that we've missed and should be included?

@odin: good on you, but what unit is it? Stormvermin? Nightrunner?

and keep in mind the scale. skaven units should be a little smaller than usual. that's why i usually base my skaven on lizardmen and hobgoblins.

If he's heavily armoured enough and the fur is categorically black, then he could be a good Stormvermin unit.

Not that any of these new Skavens will see it into WH 2.1, which I've just uploaded :)

Yeah, the vermin lord is kindof the Balrog for the skaven .. Id think have it as a unit which costs as much to make as a small wonder (maybe 300 shields?) or whatnot.
Maybe a city improvment (non wonder) which summons one every 3423626 turns or something, to prevent large numbers being built with pay-to-hurry govt types..
i digress.

For a skaven civ to be really viable, we would need a few basic units;

the clanrat (done)
skavenslave (could use the settler if it had an attack anim)
stormvermin (think elite rat troops, halberds, roman-esque armour)
giant rat and/or rat swarms
rat ogre (done, i think?)
the warplightning cannon (done)
big head-taker like the vermin lord or possibly the old skaven doomwheel

some units which would be "nice" are a skaven assassin (think rat ninja)
plauge monks (robed rat monks)

jezzails (skaven snipers with long range warpstone rifles) - good "stealth attack" unit
warlock engineer (techno wizard)
gray seer (grey furred skaven wizard in a robe)

and lastly,
some form of appropriate boat .. ideas?

check out the skaven development thread in my signiture. there we have a list of all the skaven units we want to see in the Warhammer Mod, but won't be coz the new version has just been released.

Actually, i think the Clanrat and Rat Ogre are in as barbarians, right Mr.Do?

Not all. Rat Warrior, Grey Seer and Nightrunner. + Bray Shaman. I made a complete test of units I've added to MoM II so far and reported the problems I encountered.

This could naturally be just the tip of the iceberg as I don't have all of aaglo's recent units added. ;)
