I'll go first.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 24, 2001, 07:31 AM 4000 BC. Dawn of a new Age. Emperor Ghandi I finds himself leader of the Indian people.
3950-3150 BC. Our capital Delhi is founded, and immediately overrun by barbarians from the south, plundering the treasury for 10 gold. Barbarian hordes are approaching from the west and the north. Our workers is sent exploring for huts in lack of volunteers. We gained 25 gold from a native village in the west, but our men were savagely killed by heathen men while approaching the western border.
We decide to research Pottery, a new way of storing corn and food, which will make our population able to grow faster, and produce more immigrants to colonize these rich lands.
3150 BC. We met with Shaka, ruler of the Zulus, and traded alphabet for bronze working, which will be much needed for defence. Delhi produces warriors to rid our lands of barbarian hordes.
3050 BC. Our brave warriors, sent out to fight the barbarians, discover large encampments to the Southeast and Northeast, and is victorious in hampering their progress. But the battle is not over, just yet.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 24, 2001, 07:32 AM In the beginning...
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 08:35 AM Playing.
I would suggest you bold the post before play rule.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 24, 2001, 08:39 AM Done. Looking forward to your report. :)
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 09:33 AM 3000 BC. Lee the expansionist takes over. Delhi changed to settler. Our empire must grow proclaims Lee The loss of our worker is cursed big time, and the people were right to depose our previous leader. We are already playing catchup. I give the Zulus $67 for pottery. I begin researching Masonary. Kill Barbarians.
2950 BC. Kill a barbarian camp.
2850 BC. We have an elite warrior from killing more barbarians.
2750 BC. Our people are ready to go forth and found new cities. A replacement worker is ordered.
2590 BC. A worker begins building a road to the cattle.
2550 BC. Leeville is formed in honor of our glorious leader, for he has expanded our empire :) +25 for killing another barbarian camp.
2270 BC. The empire is feeling good. Delhi wealth is increasing. Begin mining that spot. That blue border is the Germans! They are tech poor, some good news for us.
Summary - I tried to buy Mysticism from Zululand, but they would not sell it. :(
Goals - We are on a HUGH map. The Pyramids will be critical to our growth. Build them in Delhi as soon as the option is available. The civ to get them will be expanding at a much faster rate.
The are a boatload of barbarians around. Keep our workers escorted when near borders. We need to improve our lands!
Explore - This is a world map, but I still can't figure out what part of the world we our on. This is our big edge over the other civs.
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 09:35 AM The settler is on the way for the new spot is forming in Leesville. This city will be a great spot for building new settlers / workers
EDIT: Out of date attachment deleted.
das Dec 24, 2001, 12:17 PM I will grab it, and play tommorow, okay?
das Dec 24, 2001, 12:20 PM Whoops, sorry, I understood that I need to concentrate on my SG!
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 12:21 PM Das - I take this as a NO?
Grab and go - suggested guideline
Don't grab the game unless you can move immediately. Morten Blaabjerg - you may want to add this to your 1st post. Idea - You most post results with 4 hours of grabbing the game.:goodjob:

I know where you guys are, it is in the Eastern Europe lands, and you are on russia. I know this because I see the Caspian sea, and the baltic sea. Plus, there is plenty of forest north. I might join this game, if it is alright.
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 12:34 PM Ohwell, thanks for the clue.
This is an open ended game. If you want to play, just post that you are playing. Please don't post unless you can play within a couple of hours.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 24, 2001, 04:54 PM I did have an idea that we were somewhere in Russia.
The barbarians were extremely aggressive in the first few rounds. But I think other civs have taken some bite too. (I hope so) -I think it is because Scipio placed a large number of barb camps in Asia to hinder unreasonable asiatic expansion for the asiatic civs. But it gives the early game a very intense feel.
The game is still open. I don't want to play so quickly after my opening, so anyone care to join, grab it and play! :) The object is to get the game moving along, not waiting for the next player to get ready. Simply dl & play right away!
Happy Christmas! :santa:
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 05:09 PM I will play now!
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 05:22 PM Well, Donsig, move quickly, and I will jump back in tonight. Got to do something until the holiday's pass.
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 06:11 PM 1990 BC: Indian warriors trash barbarian camps in the north and south, sending plunder back to the treasury.
1910 BC: Eastern barbarians give up the gold.
1790 BC: Indian warriors by round things called 'wheels' from the French.
1725 BC: Gold from barbarians in the far east pours into our treasury. Sigville founded.
1700 BC: The cult of the Avars becomes popular in Delhi.
1675-1650 BC: Treasury is replenished from barbarian tribes in the far east and a place called "Sweden".
1625 BC: Zulus teach us to ride horses in exchange for gold.
1525 BC: The craft of working with and building with stone is mastered as artisans look for a metal stronger than bronze.
1500 BC: Donville founded.
EDIT: Attachment deleted to save server space!
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 06:15 PM We need a city in Crimea to seal off the 'European' pwers from Asia. It would be nice to settle Scandinavia, too.
NOTE: The Germans are sneaking into a Asia south of Delhi. We may need to fight Germany soon - unless we end up culturally assimilating whatever city they build 'behind our lines'.
lkendter it's all yours. If you get bored again after this how about playing one more round in the English succession game? We are down to two players since you and pggar dropped out...
EDIT: Attachment deleted to save server space!
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 06:18 PM Lee is coming back
EDIT: Out of date attachment deleted.
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 07:45 PM Lee comes back again.
1475 BC. To late to trap the European powers. German has passed through already. Donville was built to far into Europe.
Delhi switching to Pyramids.
1450 BC to 1325 BC. ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz
1300 BC - Kill some barbs for $25.
1275 BC - Sorry guys. The Germans declare war on us. I didn't think a $24 tribute request was real. I didn't think they would attack this soon:(
1225 BC - Leeville switchs to barracks, and it is whipped out.
1175 BC - Pillage German improvements by Hamburg. The Japanesse are found - They know where a boat load of civs are! We give them Horseback riding for $45 and American contact. Americans give contact with the Chinesse for $8.
1150 BC - We buy a Russian worker for $25. We can use the worker. The French give us contact with the Iroquois for a mere $11, Romans for $7 and Greeks for $6. We get from the Iroquois Writing and $16 for Horseback riding and Mysticism. We sell the Greeks Masonary for $35. We form an embassy with Zululand, they are 61 turns from the Pyramids. Start researching literature. GL would be HUGH with this many civs.
1125 BC - Donville whips out barracks. Pillage horses by Berlin.
1100 BC - 2 Germans warriors chasing my by Donville. If I can keep them away from our cities ... Sigville whips out barracks. Leeville whips out Spearman. The Russian worker begins the long road into Scandanavia and our IRON sources. Kendtertown formed in Scandanavia by Three cattle.
1000 BC - Sell the broke Greeks contact with the Chinesse for $5.
Summary - So far not much of a war with Germany. I have pillaged a lot of spaces. Pillage the cattle square next, and send the other Warrior toward it. If you go any other direction, the 2 warriors chasing us will kill that warrior. Kendtertown can become a hugh base for workers / settlers.
Goals - Keeping selling techs to the Greeks, when then can give a good price. The are WAY behind us. Build an Iron city with the Settler in Scandanvia.
Keep improving by Delhi. The Pyramids will be hugh this game.
EDIT: Out of date attachment deleted.
donsig Dec 24, 2001, 10:17 PM I built Donville to get both horses (when it's borders expand). I wouldn't have been able to keep the Germans from moving east anyway...
Someone downloaded the file - is anyone playing??????
LKendter Dec 24, 2001, 10:20 PM Donsig,
NOBODY is playing unless they post their intent to move.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 25, 2001, 09:44 AM A far descendant of Ghandi I, the nephew of Ghandi IX's mother in law, by the obscure name of Freddy Blak, seizes power in Delhi, and is crowned Ghandi XII. He wovs to bring an end to the whipping and forced labour of the cruel rule of the dictator Lee.
Stay tuned. (playing)
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 25, 2001, 11:44 AM 1000 bc. - 610 bc. The rule of Ghandi XII
After deposing of the tyranny of Emperor Lee, Ghandi XII decides to make his priorities straight.
Priorities : Pyramids deemed 1st priority, next Iron. Theres an iron deposit near Donville, as well in scandinavia. We continue our military build up, while profiting from our vast communications network and tech trade deals.
* Concluded peace with the germans
* Finnish barbs trashed and gold raided
* Barbarian wars in siberia continues. Our warrior falls bravely in the war against the mongols in siberia, charging one of their camps
* Keep exploring to the south
* Embassies established in China, France and Russia
* We traded contacts and a few techs for gold with the russians and the greeks -further deals are still possible -trouble is, they don't really have much to give in return.
Major breakthrough in geography
* Got map making and philosophy from the germans in exchange for greek gold and world map; greeks pays us 1 gold/turn and we pay germans 1 gold/turn
* After learning the mastery of maps, we earned more than 200 gold +2 gold/turn by sharing maps with virtually everyone. We now have a very good knowledge of our immediate competitors.
PLANS
War with germany again is inevitable at some point. Conclude roads to our iron sources, and start swordsmen production. Pyramids will be built very soon. Send settlers forth to colonize new lands, especially in the east. Europe is very crowded as it is, while Asia and Africa seems open.
Ghandi XII resigns with the accomplishment of having opened the indian peoples eyes to the world. We will not isolate ourselves no longer.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 25, 2001, 11:47 AM Our empire and neighbours :
donsig Dec 25, 2001, 06:16 PM The French in Crimea?!? Donsig I turns in his grave, but one of his descendants takes control in Delhi...
(I'm playing now...)
MrGeneric Dec 25, 2001, 07:57 PM I'll play after Donsig, if that's okay with everyone.
donsig Dec 25, 2001, 10:22 PM 610 BC: Donsig the Warrior, a descendant of Donsig I, re-establishes his family's dynasty. He opens diplomatic relations with Germany in order to get info on troop dispositions in Hamburg.
590: War declared on Germany and German slaves taken.
570: A band of German warriors killed and Hamburg destroyed. New Donville founded in the eastern forests.
550: Germans cut off from their supply of horses as a band of our warriors is lodt.
530: We lose another unit of warriors.
510: New Donville burned by Germans.
490: Japanese extort maps and gold.
450: German archers killed.
430: China tries extortion but their threats are rejected. German warrior and horseman killed. Pyramids built. A new religious project started.
410: Our warrior attacked by German archers and is killed but takes an archer unit down as well.
390: Konigsburg captured.
370: Konigsberg lost to Germans.
350: Zulus extort maps and gold.
310: Persians build Oracle - Delhi switches to military forces.
290: Americans try extorting maps and gold. We refuse.
270: Rome tries a hand a blackmail. We laugh.
250: German horsemen drive off our workers engaged in vital road building project.
EDIT: Attachment deleted to save server space!
MrGeneric Dec 25, 2001, 10:26 PM I'm taking over next, I'll have it posted in a few hours.
donsig Dec 25, 2001, 10:30 PM Germany has to go but the war has been tough since we have only archers. We can make horsemen in Donville and will soon be able to make swordsmen in Scandinavia.
We have to link Donville up with our capital. Then more cities can make horsemen. We must also hook up our Scandinavian cities to Delhi. There is also iron near Rochester.
I suggest our main war effort should be directed against the German cities to our east. I don't think they have access to iron or horses so all we have to do is beat archers and spearmen. We should try to pillage the road on the horses near Berlin again. Germany has iron and if they have pklaced a road to the iron it must certainly be destroyed!
China looks weak since they are in the desert...
This is an open game so anyone can take the next turn. Just post so we all know who is playing.
EDIT: Attachment deleted to save server space!
MrGeneric Dec 25, 2001, 11:39 PM 250 BC - German horsemen take the poorly defended Rochester, stealing 16 gold. The Great Library is started in Delhi.
230 BC - Cavalry retakes Rochester. Genericgrad founded in Scandinavia, securing another source of iron.
210 BC - Konigsberg captured and razed. Germans offer a peace treaty, but it is declined.
190 BC - Barbarian camp spotted in Arctic circle.
130 BC - Munich captured, razed.
110 BC - St. Genericsberg founded in Scandinavia.
90 BC - Germans capture Rochester.
30 BC - Rochester retaken, again.
10 BC - Rochester captured, again. And razed.
10 AD - Mathematics completed, beginning research on Construction.
90 AD - Athens completes Great Lighthouse.
130 AD - The mysterious Mister Generic, general of the war against Germany, is jailed for incompetence.
Okay, as far as I can tell only one German city remains in the west. Leipzig is Germany's iron supplier, but my horseman couldn't pillage the road before my turn was up. They have alot of swordsmen in our territory, but a wave of Swordsmen from Scandinavia should arrive in a few turns.
MrGeneric Dec 25, 2001, 11:44 PM Forgot to zip.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 03:13 AM Why didn't any of you guys go straight for Berlin? I think that could have been possible. Anyway, Rochester needs to be rebuilt. It's a damn fine city spot, linking Donville to the rest of our empire.
(now playing)
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 07:12 AM 130 AD After seizing power, a peace treaty is concluded with the germans. We give them peace, they give us code of laws, maps & 20 cold. They seem to know we have the upper hand. Donville is ordered to build settler, to rebuild Rochester.
190 AD The Germans seem to have got an iron source near leipzig, and they are sending swordsmen against the french. We prepare for the final wiping out of the germans. Scandinavia produces galleys and swordsmen to land outside Berlin, but first, we need barracks, and roads connecting all our cities to avoid civil unrest and corruption. Libraries, roads, swordsmen!
Damn! The French build GL!
We take one round of negotiations with every tribe we've met, and make huge profits from selling our maps and a few techs to those less privileged than we. We now have a treasury of 531 gold, with a steady income, and a high science rate at 60%. Soon we should change to monarchy, as soon as possible.
Kama Putra, the great sailor and explorer, continues his circumnavigation of our world, exploring the vast polar regions to the far far west.
260 AD Preparations for invasion of Germany continues. We now have a galley to ferry swordsmen directly from Scandinavia and Poland to Berlin. Russians demands literature, but are refused. The russians are toast soon, for the Zulus appear mightily aggressive. Our real enemies here will be the Zulus and perhaps the french, if we want to reclaim the Great Library.
290 AD We land troops outside Berlin and conclude a rights of passage agreement in order to position our forces before we strike. roads & barracks near completion. soon all our cities will be producing swordsmen. We have set science to 100%, profiting from our map sales. We have a huge treasury compared to our competitors.
300 AD Indian forces take Berlin. Vast combined efforts of Archers and Swordsmen. Our armies are lining up outside Leipzig, which will undoubtedly fall very soon.
310 AD Leipzig falls to Indian forces. We install new governor. Germany now has only one city, Frankfurt, which should be destroyed soon. The germans manage, however, to build a new city, Hamburg, to the far northeast, in the polar region.
330 AD Another round of diplomacy. Maps sold, and we give some of our gold to the Iroqouis, for sharing the secret of the Republic. Monarchy is preferred however, if we are to wage further wars on this continent in the near future.
Brutesia has been founded to secure Zulu border and cultural influence in the gap left by the german war. Our forces has been sent south to prepare for the taking of the french Great Library in Paris. Our real enemies are probably the Zulus, though. They seem to expand like crazy and become ever more demanding in their attitude. The general master plan should really be the wiping out of the Zulus.
400 AD Emperor Brutus is buried in the pyramids of Delhi. Honoured be his memory for his successes in the Great German War.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 07:13 AM Our present situation :
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 07:15 AM And the save...
donsig Dec 26, 2001, 09:12 AM Glad to see that Rochester is back on the map! Paris would be a nice addition to our country.
I will play now.:)
donsig Dec 26, 2001, 11:02 AM 400 AD: Killed German archers near Berlin.
410: Contacted French with an eye towards drawing them into a possible war with Zululand. Joan wants horses, iron and our maps just for a right of passage agreement. Hmmm, she needs iron and horses...
420: Small force sets out to take Hamburg.
430: We station a force near Tours.
440: Ceasar demands furs. We give him the cold shoulder and he declares war. Punjab's boat is lost! Our forces reach Hamburg. Many city improvements built. Rome is far away in North Africa.
450: Before sinking Punjab found England. Through them we get contact with Babylon. Hamburg destroyed.
490: Monarchy established.
Through 530: many Roman forces killed off through the years in French territory. Ceasar is ready for peace. Our peace treaty with France can now be cancelled. We're working on our first harbor, the Great Wall and our defense forces have been bolstered in our cities.
My successor has many choices to make...

Ohwell Dec 26, 2001, 11:17 AM I, Lord of Hammers, am offering to smite all resistance to the Indian Juggernaut!
(Playing)
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 11:39 AM Ohwell, you need to dl the savegame first. ;)
Ohwell Dec 26, 2001, 11:47 AM  I knew that... I just had to pay a visit to the store and didn't want to keep my ISP running, for no reason.
Ohwell Dec 26, 2001, 01:18 PM Mahatma Hammers has control now, he is destined to become a.. Failure?
- Paris Captured! - Peace WIth France
-Peace with Germany for a high price on their part
- Peace with Rome!
- ZULU DECLARED WAR! They are super- Powerful and are taking control of the borders! Need Pikemen, can build because we have feudalism! Must.. Kill... Shaka.... ohhh the pain....
Ohwell Dec 26, 2001, 01:20 PM oops ,hehe
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 01:25 PM General tip : keep selling our world map to virtually everybody. We can earn a ton of gold this way, plus the occasional tech.
Game taken. I want to play this out!
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 26, 2001, 03:40 PM The famous explorer returns home, after being rescued from his failure to circumnavigate the globe, by english fishermen. Quickly he wins public support in his claims for the throne. He is crowned Kama Putra I.
680 AD -Alliance concluded with the french against the Zulus. The price was a bit steep, but its best not to antagonize our neighbours while we wage war on the western front. Sold lots of maps & ressources to everyone less fortunate- We now have science at 70%, and a steady income from our deals of 24 gold! :) Established a bunch of embassies with our trade partners, to facilitate alliances and diplomatic arrangements.
Two swordsmen fall bravely charging zulu Impis on hills near Brutesia. Mightily strong, those impis, at least on hills. We need something more heavy to defeat these folks. We have almost no offensive units, that are strong enough to take them on. We must conclude peace as soon as possible, until we get knights (in 9 turns)
700 AD Spotted an indian settler lost in the polar region. Better get him south to some fertile soil.
720 AD Delhi completes Hanging Gardens. Great switch-over effect to Sun Tzus, so we might miss out on that one in Leeville.
Where's our scandinavian 'bridge'? Seems we got a lost galley on the spanish coast.
We get lots of veteran pikemen from zulu attacks. So far they haven't had much success in their campaign. They do pillage some roads here and there, but thats about it. I think we can conclude peace sometime soon, and then prepare for a REAL war. We will soon have chivalry and produce our war elephants and trample them to their doom.
740 AD Peace concluded with the zulus on favourable terms. Now, build up and crush them. We have elephants in 4 turns..!
760 AD Military buildup against the zulus continues, as we prepare for the 2nd Zulu war.
770 AD We discover Chivalry! Now let the show begin!
Again huge profits are made from selling our knowledge of the world to our less enlightened neighbours. We now have 565 gold, +12/turn and a science rate of 90%...
820 AD Again we profit enormously by selling Chivalry to our far away friends in far away lands. We now have a science of 100% and a steady income of +59/turn!
830 AD Kama Putra is founded in the east, in between new zulu territory.
850 AD We begin to profit from the GL, and start Sistine Chapel in Delhi.
860 AD Kama Putra resigns in luxury and splendour, satisfied with the vast riches he has brought the Indian people through his diplomatic efforts.
LKendter Dec 26, 2001, 05:40 PM After taking a wrong turn for the holidays, General Lee is back.
He turns to hunt down the seller of Chivalry, but can't find him.
Frelling part time job, I am finally getting to move now:( Should post within 1 hour.
ChrTh Dec 26, 2001, 06:46 PM I'm really enjoying watching this succession game, guys, keep up the good work!
Since I just got the game, I wouldn't dare ruin it by taking a shot at it (Santa didn't fail me :) )
LKendter Dec 26, 2001, 10:55 PM Some distance relative of General Lee takes back India. He knows what his job - continue to create wonderous cities ;)
Pre 870 AD - Sistine chappel cut to 30 turns, Sun Tzu cut to 16 turns. No one knows how to micro manage like me ... He sees another power of India - Culture beyond any one else by far. 5500 culture is a long way to go, but I see the light.
870 AD - For the love him so much, the palace is expanded. Screw the Zulu - They cross our borders. If I didn't spot that army, they would be dead right now! Japan and Iroquois have signed a peace treaty.
890 AD - WAR, screw that last German city. France and Zululand sign a peacy treaty.
900 AD - Rushed barracks in Kama Putra.
920 AD - Round of map trading to pay for all the rushing, Iroquois give us $30 & $1/turn. Meow, meow, meow - What's that you say? That cats already out of the bag, oh all right Chivalry to Rome for $6/turn and Japan for $4 turn.
930 AD - Education is ordered up on the science menu. Culture is our edge, and I want Music theory. Rushed Pikeman in Kama Putra.
940 AD - Bite me Japan. I just get a large stack to take out Frankfurt, and Japan takes it?
950 AD - Japan and Russian form an alliance against Germany. What is left to fight? More Rush building - temple in Kama Putra, Warrior > swordsman in Hammers & Freddy Blakia & Kendtertown and Leeville. Quality also helps. Yet another round of massive map trading.
970 AD - Kuma Putra rush builds again, this time a library. Maybe Umfolzi will culture flip for us at some point :flamedevi:
990 AD - The stupid greeks build Sun Tzu????? Well, at least Zululand didn't get it. We missed by one lousy turn.
1000 AD - Can we rush Kama Putra any more? Slam dunk a cathedral. If any Zululand will culture flip...
1010 AD - Some days you get good news. Leo's workshop is ours. Music theory on the way. The workshop is completed, so I sell the prereq of Engineering for decent money.
1030 AD - BITE ME! Rome builds the Sistine Chappel. We buy a university at a loss of 248 shields. Port Hammer rushes a library.
1060 AD - Finally China has money, Enginerring for $30 & $10/turn. France $19 & $9/turn. Iroquios $13 & $3/turn. Russia still broke, offer $2 gold
I still wonder if I made a mistake no switching to Republic. The big decision for the next player. Culture flips chances increase with better goverments
Summary - Some tech trading not done. Sorry Engineering for $20 is a waste. Keep people a couple of techs from the wonders. This looks like a culutural win game, and all those wonders will help big time. I am trying to keep us above $1000 for the banking wonder of Smith's trading company. Culture started at 5500, ends at 8000. Not bad for 20 turns :)
The palace in Sigville is to queue up for Bach's Cathedral. Switch next turn. Maybe another Palace should queue up, if you have another wonder target.
EDIT: Out of date attachment deleted.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 27, 2001, 04:25 AM I'm surprised you didn't trigger our golden age with one of those war elephants. :p We probably need to do that soon, before the zulus get too strong defensive units. Anyway, they'll probably keep those impis around forever, if I know them right.
Do we still have those armies lining up along the zulu border?
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 06:50 AM The Donsig dynasty is back...
1070 AD: Indians make beautiful music. Zulus told to leave our borders and they do. Donsig the Learned initiates a great university building program.
1080: Bought pikes for some of our spearmen. Forces stationed all along our western border in order to seal off the Zulus. Zulus want to trade maps, we decline.
1090: Our treasury is sinking...
1100: Our borders expand and Umfolozi (or whatever) is almost surrounded by our borders.
We need roads on our western borders in case of war. I made a settler to found a city on the tiny island south of Paris. I think we need a few ships in the Med in case of war with Zululand. Moscow would be a prime target in such a war (to cut iron and horses off).
We are third in score...

Ya know, we could also start a war... ;)
I'll play a couple of turns now...
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 27, 2001, 09:13 AM Son of an elephant trainer, the young evil Budda is accepted as court servant. His evil plots soon brings him to power, poisoning the kings meal. He wishes only one thing. Revenge! His great grandfather was once killed by the evil Zulus, in the battle of Brutesia.
Scheming and knowing little about warfare, he orders indian elephants to ATTACK Umfolzi, and all along the Zulu borders. A war that seems to become very bloody indeed, for the zulu military might is strong, and they have an army headed for Delhi.
1110 AD We defeat numberous zulu swordsmen and cavalry, but they take down quite a few elephants too. But we have many of them, and many more in production. We hurry a couple of universities to boost elephant production. We will have gunpowder in a couple of turns now. We trade maps and a few techs to pay for war preparations. Again we have a huge income, boosted heavily by our golden age. Now lets see who will dominate this continent...
Our forces are victorious! We capture Bapedi without casualties!
1120 AD Umfolozi captured and burned to the ground. Zulu army decimated by brave elephant division outside Kama Putra. We discover Gunpowder, and decides to head for Democracy, via printing press & banking.
1130 Zulu army defeated by Elephant division without a single casualty, outside their city of Isipezi. However, after prolonged battles, indian forces suffer an embarrassing defeat in the mountains of Intombe (also known as Schwitzerland), where King Budda falls bravely, commanding his vast armies of Elephants through the Alps, as no man has done before.
The indian army before the battle of Intombe :
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 27, 2001, 09:16 AM Incredible first-hand account found by archaologists -centuries later :
Dear Mom,
Our march have come to a halt, while we recuperate and wait for reinforcements to arrive, and wait for our kings successor. We hear rumours about large saltpeter concentrations north of Moscow. With this one can make very loud and effective weapons, we hear. Our commanders say, we must gain control of Italy before we can gain the advantage of this discovery. Who will seize control with the Indian Empire now, I wonder. We are terribly down in numbers, only our division remains. Its getting awfully cold in these mountains, but I am pretty confident we will beat the Zulus second time around,
Love, your son, Japar Hualalumpur,
October, in the year of Our Lord 1150 AD
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 27, 2001, 09:17 AM And the save...
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 11:34 AM Iron and horses and saltpeter, oh my! All in Italy?!? We'd better boot the Russians and Zulus from that peninsula!
Clarification: I'm posting from work and do not have the game. Repeat: I am not playing right now.
i.Psychosis Dec 27, 2001, 01:04 PM Wasn't sure if donsig actually has it or not. It didn't look like he said he was playing. Brb.
EDIT: My wife is making me go shopping with her
I do NOT have the game.
I'll come back later tho.
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 02:19 PM Since it appears that noone has the game now, I'll take over for the next 20 turns.
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 04:59 PM 1160 AD - Guy Incognito, Mister Generic's son, is appointed general of the war against the Zulu. Isipezi is captured and razed. Printing press completed, beginning research on Chemistry.
1170 AD - Kiev falls from Russian to Zulu hands.
1190 AD - JS Bach's Cathedral completed.
1210 AD - We lost our supply of spices. Bismarck wants a peace treaty for two of our Zulu workers, and is turned down. Russia and Zululand sign a peace treaty.
1220 AD - Intombe captured. Incognito chooses to raze it because no defensive units can be spared. We gain about 10 workers from the city. Frankfurt overthrows Japanese and joins our empire.
1230 AD - New Mpondo captured and razed. Kiev captured and razed, Zulu workers taken. Great leader acquired.
1250 AD - Astronomy completed, beginning Physics.
1255 AD - Observatory begun in Delphi.
1260 AD - Ibabanago captured and razed. Moscow captured and garrisoned.
1265 AD - Peace treaty with the Zulu. Forbidden Palace begun in Hammers.
1275 AD - Incognito launches an assault on St. Petersburg, beginning a war with the Russians. The city is taken and garrisoned, securing a source of saltpeter. Rome declares war on Americans. Our Golden Age ends. Physics completed, beginning Magnetism.
1280 AD - Peace with Germany.
1295 AD - France declares war on America.
1300 AD - Guy Incognito dies and is given a ceremonial burial for his victories in the Great Zulu War.
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 05:00 PM By the way, the great leader is sitting right above Berlin, for anyone who wants to use him. I'd probably have wasted him anyway.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 27, 2001, 05:07 PM  Sounds like half the map was razed! There must be room for indian expansion now... All the northeastern zulu cities were probably worthless anyway. I vote for using that Great Leader for rushing a wonder in Bapedi or something, to strengthen our western culture border.
btw, did Japar the elephant trainer actually survive? I wondered if he'd be toast left in the alps with one hp left.
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 05:33 PM Yeah I think Mr. One HP War Elephant bit the dust in my first attack on Intombe.
We now have massive War Elephant concentrations on the western and eastern Zulu borders. If the next person wants to attack it shouldn't be too difficult to take at least a few cities right off the bat.
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 05:50 PM I'm jumping on it - I'm playing again!!!:)
LKendter Dec 27, 2001, 06:07 PM Well Donsig, Play quickly :crazyeyes :crazyeyes :crazyeyes :crazyeyes
Hmmm.... My plan to culturally take over Zululand fizzled.
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 09:58 PM Played as fast as my old computer would go...
1305 - 1330 AD: Dhondi the Patient, distant descendant of the Donsig dynasty inherits the throne. He redeployes forces against Zululand's eastern possesssions.. Is best remembered for his discovery that the Black Sea fleet cannot sail into the Med.
1350: Dhondi II, grandson of Dhondi the Patient, ascends the throne. In Impi is spotted near Paris. When told to leave Shaka declares war. Indian forces move immediately in the east and New Zimbabwe, New Bapedi, Rouen, Zunguin and Umfolozi are razed. On the western front, Zulu slaves are taken.
1355: New Ulundi razed in the east while Ulundi is attacked in the west.
1360: Ulundi captured, Munford founded in the east.
1365: Grenoble razed and Zulus are now confined to the west(?). Goat Island founded in the Med. Iron deposits exhausted near Freddy Blakkia.
1370: Zulus have musketmen in the west. Dhondi II pillages improvements rather than attack the cities.
1375: Dhondi II passes into history but before he does he gets a closer look at the stars thank to Copernicus. He also lives to spend half the treasury on muskets...
EDIT: Attachment deleted to save server space!
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 10:03 PM Wow, alot of cities taken in one turn.
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 10:03 PM Here is what is left of Zululand. Think we need some cannons to take the cities, but I'm not sure. I would keep the western cities when captured.
The Great Leader is in Moscow. I think we should use him to build the Forbidden Palace but I could not decide whether it should be in Ulundi (or another western Zulu city) or in one of our new eastern cities...
I razed the eastern Zulu cities and planted some brand new Indian cities in their place. Rome built in the artic and China is looking for a place to build a city in our newly conquered lands.
I've been moving the eastern elephants to the west...
Good luck to who ever plays next and my apologies for taking so long on this tonight!
EDIT: Attachment deleted to save server space!
donsig Dec 27, 2001, 10:07 PM Wow, alot of cities taken in one turn.
It was pre-planned. I was going to attack the Zulus when our 20 turns of peace was up and had stationed 4 elephants outside most of their eastern cities. They declared war a couple turns early.
BTW, the GL is in Ulundi, not Moscow. He is shown in the screenshot I attached!
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 10:11 PM Well, lkendter said he wanted to play next, but if he hasn't replied in a few hours I'll take over.
LKendter Dec 27, 2001, 10:26 PM Go MrGeneric.
Heading to bed shortly - While I need the money, the new job is killing my ability to play civ.
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 10:29 PM Allright then, I'll post the results in a few hours.
MrGeneric Dec 27, 2001, 11:32 PM Bah nevermind, I'm busy.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 28, 2001, 03:58 AM Nice work, guys! Now let's eliminate those Zulus from the face of the earth. I don't think we can take their cities with elephants alone, if they've got musketeers. But never say never when it comes to civ3 combat. Last time I saw an indian pikemen attack a zulu swordsman by mistake, and win without a scratch.
But we probably need artillery and cavalry. So our research project should aim for military tradition sometime.
Game is still open! :)
donsig Dec 28, 2001, 08:01 AM We're a few turns from getting metallurgy which will allow us to build cannons. In the meantime we can pillage Zululand's Spanish possessions. I made it to their saltpeter tile but haven't pillaged it yet.
I think we also should start building a navy. I got really tweaked when I finally realized our Black Sea galled couldn't sail into the Med! We should build Constantinople to bridge the two bodies of water. Since France is already being attacked by two other civs...
Last sugestion: We should make some settlers to found cities in the void left in the east by razing all those Zulu cities.:)
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 28, 2001, 10:14 AM I should probably be working on my project, but I'm not. So I'm playing now!
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 29, 2001, 04:15 AM 1375 AD Another son of an elephant trainer, the old, kind and generous Habibi Snurrulalumpur, seizes power by popular consent. Immediately he sets out to bring India scientifically in front; inspired by the many hours spent in the famous observatorium in Delhi. He knows that some day, man will travel into space. And there is only one way, science must be prevail! Many emmissaries come on his day of initiation, to buy famous indian maps, and a few of Indias great scientific achievements. Soon his treasury can afford a science of 100% once again.
1380 We love the Mahatma day celebrated all over the empire, in honour of our new king!
As his first action, he orders full-scale attacks on the remaining Zulu cities, including their capital. It is his firm belief, that only when the zulu threat is eliminated, can his kingdom grow, and science prosper. This war must end, and nothing less than zulu submission is acceptable. Indian forces capture Isandlawana quite easily, and decimate garrisons of other zulu cities.
Donsig, you were worried about attacking the cities? With such many elephants, its a piece of cake! ;)
1385 Habibi conquers the zulu capital, Zimbabve, and proceeds with the conquest of the Iberian peninsula. Settlers have built two new cities. Habibi south of Austria and Snurrulalumpur in the far east, neighbouring the chinese.
1390 Russians offer peace. We demand their city of Minsk, and we get it. Upon inspection, what a worthless city! Joan of Arc comes to ask about the indian troops within her territory. We declare war, when she won't give us rights of passage.
1395 Lyon captured and razed, since we want to build Byzantium on the strip connecting the black sea to the mediterrenean.
1400 DAMN! The zulus got a saltpeter source in North Africa! Now I can understand how they can keep produce musketmen, even if I kill one after the other. Our GL is dead now, along with our army. There weren't any wonders around, so I figured he might form the army. Now we're building Magellans, Smiths and the heroic epic.
1410 Expedition dispatched to North Africa to destroy zulu saltpeter mines there. Byzans established. Hmmm. Are the chinese attacking us now? Seems it was a zulu knight run loose in Persia. Zulus? Hm! Where did they now come from? From North Africa?
1425 Marseilles captured. The french now only have a few of their core cities left, plus a handful of polar cities. King Habibi retires in old age, giving way to a more youthful king, who will crush the zulus and take the indians to the stars.
Pggar Dec 29, 2001, 06:12 AM I'm playing the game!!!
Pggar Dec 29, 2001, 08:34 AM 1430ad - Orleans was captured by the Indian War Elephants. Rushed 3 barracks close to our borders to start upgrade operation and 2 temples.
1435ad - Started Military Academy in Berlin. Two resistors were quelled in Orleans (2 to go). 8 War Elephants upgraded to cavalry (80 gold). A lot of workers move without my knowledge (are they automated?). Destroyed Zulu road connection to horses. 2 Temples rushed. Lost 1 Dumbo to Rheims.
1440ad - Increased from 7 to 19gold/turn the price of furs to the Romans. Sold wines to the Iroquois for 16gold/turn. Price of furs to Japan increased from 6 to 21. Price of iron to Americans increased from 38 to 75. Sold furs to Persian for 5/turn. Wall Street being produced at Rochester III. Another resistor quelled in Orleans (1 to go). Dumbo lost to Longbowman next to Hlobane. 2 Dumbos upgraded.
1445ad - Resistance in Orleans has ended. 4 Dumbos upgraded. 2 Cavalries lost to Hlobane. Rheims was captured. Temple rushed there.
1450ad - 6 Dumbos upgraded. Tour was captured (1 resistor).
These turns take forever, so I've played just 5 turns. The Zulus were lucky at Hlobane. Their musketmen got to the last hitpoint and destroyed two cavalries. That's the only situation where a mobile unit doesn't retreat. I don't like this rule, and I don't know why the designers did that.
Anyway, here's the game. The zipfile is already 432K. The next player might not be able to attach it to the thread.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 29, 2001, 09:18 AM These turns take forever, so I've played just 5 turns.
It is beginning to lag a little with the huge map. But a lot can happen in 5 turns in this game, so its more than enough. :)
The save always varies in size; the zip has been as big as 400+ earlier on, and later games have been closer to 300k. I guess it depends on how much is going on in the game. I doubt the zip will get bigger than 500k.
Plans :
How about a brazilian adventure? Seems South America is the only continent, where there's room for expansion. But its probably more fun to try and stage an invasion of Roman Africa. After we wipe out the zulus from Spain, that is.
donsig Dec 29, 2001, 09:32 AM Did we ever build a forbidden palace? If we're heading for the new world we'll need it over there...
(Not playing, just talking:) .)
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 29, 2001, 09:47 AM Nope. My mistake. I squandered our only leader away on an army of elephants, who died within a few turns. What a waste. A couple of turns later there were lots of wonders up for bidding, as well as the forbidden palace, which should probably be placed in France to pressure the greeks.
LKendter Dec 29, 2001, 07:11 PM I don't see any one PLAYING!
I am claim a spot. Hopefully, the forum will stay up long enough for me to post my results.
LKendter Dec 29, 2001, 11:35 PM Cultural Lee comes back. He is VERY disappointed that a Leader was squandered for a dead army. We shall win this game with 100000 culture he proclaims.
He reviews what there is before moving.
PEACE with France. We extort Toulouse, 34 Gold, 5/turn, and World map.
Massive map trade. Germany gives up $7/turn
Genericgrad is switched to Calvary. Cancel Bapedi calvary, and build Barracks. I hate regular troops. Freddy Blakia to Musketman, disbanding the regular Musketman. Disband regular musketman in Bapedi, and start building a veteran one.
Switch Paris to University, allowing Delhi to build Heroic epic, though probably to late. We had a very good shot at a 20000 point culture city, but the leader loss, and non wonders probably cost us that.
1455 AD. Swazi captured and renamed to Wineville. More cultural buildings rushed.
1460 AD. Nothing much except a couple of Cultural buildings rushed.
1465 AD. Lost a calvary, killed a knigth. Cash keeps disappearing into culture buildings. I just realized - Why are we still in Monarchy. Revolution - We want democracy.
1470 AD. Hlobane falls, I think we lost 2 calvary. Zululand still refuses our envoy.
Guess what theme continues? $23 a turn for the recently aquired Zulu wines from America, plus $4/turn for World map. I love looking at trades, and Aztecs need Iron, Salt Peter and Horses. We make enough from trading to rush another Cathedral.
We are the Glorious Indians for the Most Advanced nations in the World :)
1475 AD. France is a non-player. I offered Horses and Iron, and the offer nothing! Tugela falls. Not quite ready for peace, but Zululand will talk now. Delhi switches to Shakespeare Thearte.
1480 AD. Mpondo and Ngome fall. Peace in our time:) . Europe is free off the Zulu. We get $103 & $15/turn for Peace. Citizens around the empire celebrate. We have 2 more Saltpeter sources, they just need a road.
1485 AD. Persia in troube? Rome and Zululand form an alliance against them.
1490 AD. Rush build Harbor in Wineville. I want access to that Wine and Saltpeter.
1495 AD. Rush build Temple in Mpondo, to get that wine source within our borders.
1505 AD - More rushed built temples, Pushed science rate through the roof. Steam power on the way.
1510 AD - A wine come into our borders - 8 gold a turn from Persia for them. Fur to Aztecs for $7, and Physics! to Aztecs for $27 a turn
1515 AD - I catch more Automated idiot workers  Greece also joins the beat up Persia war.
1520 AD - I complete the road to the furs near Mumford - The only potential buyers are broke. Our bizzare looking palace is expanded.
1525 AD - Steam power researched - We have 2 coal sources.
1535 AD - Brutesia is building the Iron Works!
1545 AD - Massive competion showing up for Smiths Trading Company.
1550 AD - Well, next time I play, I am cancelling ALL worker orders if I see even a single automated worker. This is frelling asburd.
Summary - Our cities WAY too over Irragted. I wasted a lot of worker time getting the cites more mines. A good percent of my worker time was wasted reversing previous builds.
Someone set the idiotic automated workers. I just watched units move. They really SUCK, and produce terrible upgrades.
We need to build more Musketman! A lot of our calvary is tied up defending cities, and we only have ONE lousy defender in most cities.
Get ready to trade! Wineville wine on line in a few turns. Mpondo wine on line in a few turns.
Wall street is getting close. Keep cash ABOVE $1000.
Last time for 20 turns. Just taking to long.
Next couple of rounds will be very interesting. Lots of wonders are close.
EDIT: Out of date attachment deleted.
Teemu Dec 30, 2001, 01:01 AM I'm playing now.
Teemu Dec 30, 2001, 02:23 AM I played only couple turns because my computer sucks. We got Adam's Trade Company and Shakespeare Theatre but Persians got Magellans Voyage. I changed Universal Suffrage there were we were making Magellans Voyage. We produced Heroic Epic and Military Academy.
We got Industrilization and started to produce Medicine after that so that we could get Sanitation and with that hospitals to get more population. I started to build factories to several place. Roman northern city Corona or something joined to us because of our culture.
Teemu Dec 30, 2001, 02:24 AM Here is the file.

I always automate my workers, especially when waging wars. I could really care less about micromanaging 30+ workers, unless there's a specific object, like an important road connection or wonder project.
I feel that while what they do might be pretty irritating at times (especially changing existing mines to irrigation, when a city is building a wonder), they do free up time for more important (and fun) things, and in the end I find all my cities are growing in a healthy pace, never threatened by starvation or serious riots. And they are great for automatically rebuilding stuff after a devastating war. So all in all, the automated workers are a great benefit, IMO. You can always cancel their orders if necessary, and pile them for specific projects; and turn off watching them move. That last thing is huge with the patch. :)
LKendter Dec 30, 2001, 09:23 AM Oh well, I can't fight on you this one with the Automated workers.
I have played my last turn with this game. I have lost to many wonders by one turn, and our production output has gone DOWN is several key cities. Sorry, but I disagree with you big time on the workers. Automated workers for me make the game UNENJOYABLE. Plus, when rails are discovered I prefer to concentrate on very carefully rail line plans to conect cities asap.
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 30, 2001, 09:37 AM Ikendter, I think you are missing the point in a succession game. IMO, it is pretty unimportant if we lose out on one wonder or the other, or if we win one way or another. The fun thing is accomodating and picking up on other players' playing styles, so that the game becomes something it wouldn't be, if we were just playing a single player game. The fun thing for me is the "natural" history and diverse 'geopolitical landscape' created by so many different people playing the same game. I think it is pretty fun to find units placed, wars started, deals made, techs chosen etc that I would NEVER have done myself; thats the inspiring part to me. :D
Cunobelin Of Hippo Dec 30, 2001, 12:55 PM My turn
EDIT: Not my turn :( My computer isn't liking this huge map very much ;) I'll just bow out now...

I won't agrue with you there at all. That is the main reason I started 5 succession games, and have played in a couple of others.
However, I am very big on city Micromangement, wonder building, etc. Part of my game challenge is to maximize the wonders, culture, etc. I have seeing cities at size 12 with 8 excess food. This happens a lot with automated workers. I play at regent, and this become much more critical there.
I don't want to waste to much thread space on this, so I don't plan any more replies.
Good Luck.
The_Newbie Dec 30, 2001, 05:41 PM I have the game
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 30, 2001, 05:55 PM Ikendter, no need to argue. :) Thanx for playing! It's been fun. :D
I must admit the game is beginning to lag now, so if players have just an average perfomance computer, turns take a looong time. Almost too long with this huge map. If you want to join in, be aware of this!
On the other hand, there's lots of opportunities with so many civs playing. We haven't won just yet. (although things seems to be going in that direction; no surprise, since this is only warlord level) However we did suffer some tremendous setbacks in the beginning, but the other civs must have had similar problems.

The_Newbie Dec 30, 2001, 09:27 PM Even the zipped file is a bit to big for me to post now.
Pggar Dec 30, 2001, 09:46 PM What can be done to get this game going?
Either we start to use e-mail to transfer savegames, or we'll have to split the zip files and post it in two posts. I don't know how or if that last option works, but I believe it can be done with arj files. Does anybody know how this partition thing works or have any other idea?
Morten Blaabjerg Dec 30, 2001, 09:54 PM Hmmm. I didn't actually expect this to happen; guess you were right on this one, Pggar. How big is the zipfile now? The most realistic thing is probably to upload the zip to some free webspace somewhere, and post the link here. Anyone know a good place to do this?
MrGeneric Dec 30, 2001, 10:59 PM Well, are you guys zipping it at the maximum compression rate? My save file was over the limit but I put the compression rate to maximum and it worked.
Golden Bear Dec 31, 2001, 04:37 AM Can you not just specify to have the save zipped into two files and upload them in seperate posts? It might mean more hassle in downloading them, but it'll keep everything in this forum so that everyone's got easy access to it.

Pggar Jan 02, 2002, 08:22 AM So, what have happened to this game Morten?
Morten Blaabjerg Jan 02, 2002, 09:50 AM I've got the game. Its just that I've been so extremely busy with a university project right now that I haven't had the moment to split it and post it yet. I'll post the file soon, hopefully tomorrow when I'm finished with the project -its 18 hours work from now... Phew! Looking forward to get some breathing space!
Morten Blaabjerg Jan 03, 2002, 10:16 AM Here's the save, compressed using WinAce, maximum compression. If you don't have winace, you can download it from here :

[edit. hmmm. seems this forum won't accept ace files. I have pm'ed TF about it. I'll try and figure something out]
Morten Blaabjerg Jan 03, 2002, 10:25 AM Problem solved. The save is now zipped at maximum compression.
Here it is :

Morten Blaabjerg Jan 03, 2002, 06:08 PM BTW, remember to keep a good book ready for between turns, if you want to play. The computer is really taking its time calculating its moves now... And use max compression rate, or the file will be too big.
A new bright future on a new continent...

chainsawkiller Jan 04, 2002, 12:01 AM Sorry, my comp is too slow to play it. At the rate i am playing, it will take me a whole day, so someone else continue pls.
Civnewbie Jan 04, 2002, 01:17 AM i started playing civ this christmas... and i love it!!! its even better than starcraft, and thats saying a lot for me... i will take a shot at this "succsession" if you dont mind, since no one else is doing it right now!
Civnewbie Jan 04, 2002, 01:29 AM OH MY LORD LOOK AT ALL THE CITIES HOW DO I COMPREHEND IT ALL AHHHHHHHHHH MY HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
POP!
Civnewbie Jan 04, 2002, 01:43 AM i cant play this game.. alas i am not ready!
Morten Blaabjerg Jan 04, 2002, 05:25 AM Don't say I didn't warn you!
But apart from the many cities and longish time between turns, its like any other game. If you don't want to play whole 20 turns, 5 turns or just a couple of turns is fine. A lot can happen in just a few turns.
Balder Jan 04, 2002, 06:55 AM I havn't tried a game on huge before, but my computer should be able to cope. I hope I am able too. :crazyeyes
I probably can't finish in four hours, though. I hope it will be ok if I post the results 24 hours from now.
(playing) :tank:
Morten Blaabjerg Jan 04, 2002, 07:58 AM Don't worry about the 4 hours any longer. A reasonable time for a full 20 turn reign is probably more like 8 hours or so. But, as said, feel free to take the number of turns you feel is appropriate.
Balder Jan 05, 2002, 08:01 AM I the year 1720 a big, ugly leader from the north took command of the Indian nation. He was known as Balder I. Even though India formally remained a democracy, the secret police made the leader more of a despot. This are exerpts from his autobiography (not finished due to his sudden death).
Upon gaining power and securing it (for the common peoples own good), my first action was to review all deals with other nations. Many deals seemed old and after discussing the terms with other leaders I was able to extract a lot more money from them. It seams our technology is advanced compared to most nations. I will see to that this stays so by selling no or very little of our knowledge to other nations. I also thought that our great nation needed more than one center of government and started construction of my summer palace in Rheims. Why no other leader has build this highly useful construction to reduce petty thefts and sore leader-shoulders I can't understand. I also reduced science spendings since my advisors tells me that the scientists can't work any faster with more spendings. After theese measures our earnings are +950/turn.
I then reorganized city production. I fully intend to be the strongest military power on Earth and absorb nearby nations. Most changes was to shift towards more production (factories, courthouses) and military (barracks and cavalry). I don't want a large navy. Cities on other continents will probably be totally corrupted. As we are already at war with the pathetic Chinese these will be absorbed first by my force of 27 cavalry. But our most important would-be-enemy is the Romans. Since they have a stronger army than we do (acording to the military advisor) we shall leave them in peace in my early reigning years.
1725 - It seems to me that the late leader wanted to colonize South America. Since theese cities foreever will be totally corrupted, the only reason for such colonies is to secure resources. Dye is possible from South America and I will try to grab some by making a city for this purpose. Rubber is probably more easily obtained in the Indonesia/Philepines/New Guinea-area. I will sail there with a settler/Rifleman combination. Concered the Chinese city Xinjian. Unfortunatly the Chinese took Shanghai.
1730 - Universial Suffrage built. Now everyone can vote and think that they influence on national politics. In reality their influence is extreamly small and I do as I see fit. My scientists researched Steel and started to unravel a Atomic Theory. Sounds like a waste of time, but they asure me that this eventually could lead to greater production and perhaps even military aplications (trying to get Hoover Dam). Took Shanghai and Tatung (starving it to get rid of chinese resisters). Made peace with Chinese (75 gold + 20/turn). Next target will be the Romans, but first I have to build a Railroad Network and strengthen the army.
1735 - Military railroad network finished. Going into posistion to attack Romans in Cumae (7 artillery + 11 cavalry). The Romans didn't like it and asked me to get out or declare war. I decleared war. Unfortunatly the English had a mutual protection pact with the Romans and decleared war against me. They are not near me so they can't threaten me, but I had some nice trade agrements with them.
1740 - Dye City founded in South America. Will build temple (cultural war), harbour and a worker to make raod to Dye. Cumae taken without losses. Rome taken without artillery support, one cavelry lost. We now control Sistine Chapel! Starving Rome to prevent cultural flip. Captured Neapolis without loss (only one defender). Captured Antium. No losses. One cavalry killed by Roman retaliation, but no city lost.
1745 - Battlefield Medicine and Theory of Evolution. Discovered Communism and Espionage. Lugdunum taken without loss. Veii taken without loss. To keep up the offensive I draft riflemen in my mainland and send veterans out to protect workers building military railways and the new cities. The Romans attack and took back Antium, two artillery destroyed. They also capture 3 workers.
1750 - Recapured Antium and also recaptured my 3 lost workers. Lutetia (Gems!), Hispalis and Ravenna. Captured workers, settlers and catapults/cannons (upgraded to artillery).
1752 - 2 main cities riot because of the war. Discovered Atomic Theory and started to research Electronics. Captured Pompeii, Viroconium, Tarentum and Pisae. Destroyed Corfinum (size 1). Romans and English won't talk to me, so I'll have to fight a bit more, ignoring riots.
1754 - Captured Syracuse (Ivory!) and Palmyra.
1756 - A lot (perhaps 10) cities riot because of war veriness. I have to stop the war to get the people to relax. Well, most of my objectives are already reached. Just a few more cities; Verona destroyed, captured Gordion and Nicomedia. We then made peace with the Romans. They didn't want to give us any cities that could be useful so I just took all their gold. The English still didn't want to talk to us.
1758 - All over the empire the people are glad the Roman war is over. The English won't talk , but it's a phoney war. No contact what so ever. Our next military target should be Japan. Their lands is near our soon-to-be Forbidden Palace in Rheims.
Here the autobiography ends. Eating out in a Roman resturant in one of the new Indian cities, the leader ate some poisonous mushrooms. Somebody else will have to take over after Balder I's glorious reign.
The power graph is very nice now. This should be an easy win. Domination or Space Race, I think. But perhaps a bit boring because it's kind of slow between turns. Our only problem is to acquire a source of rubber. A ship is in the Pacific on its way towards the Philipines where there is rubber for us. Another plan could be South America, but we probably would have to fight the Egyptians to get it. Not a big problem if we bring a lot of cavalry. Don't build coal plants, build Hoover Dam instead to get the production and less polution. There are a lot of Aztecs in our territory. I havn't asked them to leave since I didn't want a war with them while fighting the Romans.
We do research at 1 tech/4 turns and +600-900 gold/turn. Most of the cavalry is fortified in Donsville, ready to be called out anywhere with the use of our railroad. Some cities havn't riflemen; produce them and place them there. Some of the workers are still stupid (automated).
gonzo_for_civ Jan 07, 2002, 10:26 PM If you want, I can take a turn sometime. I have a lot of patience and have experience playing huge maps and controlling 50+ cities. I'm not super good but I am good at war also and I think I could manage at least 10 turns. My computer is fast and my civ III is bug free:)
Pggar Jan 07, 2002, 11:39 PM You should go for it Gonzo.
This is an open succession. Anyone plays.
You just need to state you're playing, so two people don't end up playing the same save file.
Good Luck! :goodjob:

donsig Jan 20, 2002, 05:43 PM 1760 AD: Japan and England sign a trade embargo against us. France and Persia ally against Greece and France declares war on Greece. Told Montezuma to remove his troops from our territory and he complied. We lose our spice and gems imports.:( Our scientists learn the secrets of electronics.
We are at war with England but they are far away in western North America. I tried to make peace since there is no actual fighting going on but Elizabeth refused our envoys. I established embassies with everyone.
We need rubber. It all seems to be in South America.
Note: Our histograph lead over second place America is 97 points. America is 3 ahead of England which is 12 in front of Egypt. Russia is in last place. How ironic since we started out in Russia! Our culture seems highest.:goodjob:
1762: Zulus wipe out Russia. Our cities continue to build improvements and our workers finalize our rail network and clean up pollution.
1764: We lose our ivory imports. Runner is spotted near New Xinjian, a chinese city south of oour recent conquests in Asia. There is a red civ between our country and this rubber supply. Can't recall if it is Rome or Japan.
1766: Persia allies with England and declares war on us. (I think Persia is in the eastern half of North America.)
1768: We learn refining. Didn't have time to scout for oil.
I've continued building improvements in our cities. Also built a few galleons and some artillery. My idea was to form a task force of cavalry, arty and riflemen to invade North America. I figured knocking England and Persia around a bit would force them to sue for peace.
I think we should sieze the rubber that China has even if it means war with the red civ as well as China. Once the rubber is secured we can have peace in Asia again. (Assuming we don't have to fight for oil!) We have ALOT of cavalry near the Black Sea.
Once we have peace with England and Persia I'd start throwing India's weight around in South America. There's alot of rubber there and we should own it all!:satan:
Our income has dropped about 400 gold/turn due to declarations of war and expiring agreements. I sold what I could it didn't amount to much.
Remember to use maximum compression when zipping the file for this game!
Morten Blaabjerg Jan 21, 2002, 03:50 PM Nice to see this game still going. :) What happened to our cities in newly colonized Argentina? Might be the best place to get that rubber supply. But of course, we're militarily strong enough to grab it in Asia too.
BTW, aren't Persia in England, and Babylonians in east US?
donsig Jan 21, 2002, 04:35 PM We still have Argentina, another city nearby and two settlers about to make more cites there. Trouble is, the South American rubber belongs to Egypt. There's more than one source and they may already have traded some to another civ. The supply in Asia is closer and only weak civs are there. I've been thinking that taking that rubber supply first (even before war in North America) is prudent. It depends on oil though. We just learned refining and must find oil as well as secure a rubber source. I think we need infantry in order to be able to force peace upon England and Persia. I also think the key to remaining a democracy is to end these wars. I've only been advocating seizing the Asian rubber because we are already at war with England and Persia and it shouldn't add that much to war weariness, especially if we can take what we need quickly and make peace.:)
donsig Jan 21, 2002, 04:43 PM BTW, aren't Persia in England, and Babylonians in east US?
It might be the Babylonians in the eastern US, I'm not sure. The Greeks are the ones in England. It's all very confusing geographically.:crazyeyes

Beard Rinker Feb 01, 2002, 04:26 AM General elections are held a new president is elected. A strange looking man with a funny name 'Rinker' assumes the office with much fanfare. The circumstances of the election are controversial (rumors or ballot stuffing, promises to trade unions, etc.) but his promises of an expansion without end are very popular.
I have the game and will post my results in few days.
Beard Rinker Feb 03, 2002, 03:02 PM Diplomatic Relations
At war with English (distant, little contact) and Persia (same)
England has MPP with Rome (our neighbor in central Africa and South America)
Persia at war with the Greeks
Japan (our neighbor) and Babylon (England's neighbor) have MPP
Rome, England and Japan have trade embargo against us
Resources
Rubber needed. Closest supply is New Xinjian (Chinese) just south of Syracuse in central Africa. Other supplies are in South America, which are firmly held by Egyptians, and in the Phillipines, which look like the Americans and Zulus have or will soon have.
Oil is plentiful in our territory.
Relative Strength of Civilizations
We are the most powerful civilization by a small margin and amongst the most culturally advanced. Our technology is several advances ahead of all other civilizations.
Next to us, Egypt, America, England and Iroquois appear to be the most powerful with the Azteks and Babylonians not far behind.
France, Germany and Zulu appear to be non-factors. This is likely due to dealings with some of my predecessors.
Persia cannot be found. Can only find Persian town Samaria in Australia. Talk about a stealth war.
China, Japan and Rome are our most powerful neighbors but are no match for us.
Greeks are small and more or less land-locked in Great Britain.
Military Situation
Although at war with 2 other civilizations, we have no war weariness. Likely due to our enemies being so distant and no actual battles taking place.
English war. 8 English archers and 2 spearmen are within view of our South American city Argentina. Any attacks on English units will activate the English - Roman MPP and bring Rome into war with us. Attacking the English or being attacked by them will also cause war weariness.
Azteks have a large number of units marching through our territory in North Africa. They are not at war with us, but are annoyed with us. Ingrates! According to the historical documents there has been nothing but honorable trade agreements between our peoples.
We have a large force of Cavalry in Donville. Several military units, including an army, are en route to the new world in South America. Cavalry protects some cities instead of riflemen and few cities have more than one unit defending.
Construction of Note
Forbidden Palace is nearing completion in Rheims at our eastern front.
Intelligence Agency nearing completion in Kamma Putra.
Hoover Dam under construction in Delhi.
United Nations and Manhatten Project are not available for 7 discoveries.
Statistics
Score: 1083 First by 119 over English and America
Culture: 47422 about 420 / turn
Treasury: 2865 with gain of 527 per turn
Discoveries: Every 4 turns
Long Term Goals
- Avoid active conflict unless there is a specific goal that can be obtained quickly. This should minimize any war weariness.
- Expand territory through conquest around Forbidden Palace.
- Establish presence in South America. This would give easier access to Egypt, England and Babylon in case some 'peace keeping' action is required.
- When the opportunity presents itself, make life difficult for out nearest rivals. Currently they are Egypt, England, America and the Iroquois. Babylon and the Azteks also have the potential of becoming a large power.
Short Term Goals
- Protect South American city Argentina and other South American outposts.
- Obtain rubber supply. Closest supply is in New Xinjian. Since Rome has MPP with England and a trade embargo against us, we will likely be at war with them soon. The rubber supply in New Xinjian is also near two Roman cities. It should be possible to take the Roman cities and culture the rubber away without engaging the Chinese.
- Get Egypt and Babylon in war against England. This should prevent any active conflict in Argentina and slow those civilizations down a bit.
- Try to get a great leader. Once the Forbidden Palace is built, the capital could be moved to central South America cementing our presence there.
Note: I have never tried moving the capital and am not certain this would be beneficial. On one hand, the new cities in South America would be productive and facilitate conquest on that continent. On the other hand, corruption would increase in what are now our core cities and the risk of our captured cities flipping back to their former owner increases.
Beard Rinker Feb 03, 2002, 03:03 PM Indian History 1768 - 1808 The Fall of Rome and Continental Expansion
1768 - Signed a military alliance with Babylon and Egypt against England. Hopefully this will distract the English archers near the city Argentia.
Traded away some obsolete technology to other civilizations.
Gave France and Germany Democracy and Economics with the hopes those civilizations will forgive the aggressions of my predecessors. (Not really, I just want them to generate some wealth so I can sell them more stuff.)
Gave China some furs with the hope that they wouldn't declare war. After all, the fur will be flying near their border soon.
1770 - English archers near Argentina left, seems they have better things to do. Trade embargo against us between Japan and England ended. Japanese - Babylon MPP brings Japan into war with England, that makes four against England now.
Declared war on Rome and razed Hippo Regius. Will build a better-placed town near there to get the rubber.
Saanich founded in South America.
1772 - Rome declares war on Babylon. Probably their MPP with England was activated. Japan and Persia begin trade embargo against us. I'm not sure if Japan is initiating these trade embargoes or if our enemies keep sucking the Japanese into them. Although our people lust for their land, we do not want conflict with the Japanese yet as we have other short-term objectives.
War weariness in our cities is already setting in. Better make quick work of the Romans or settle.
Rubber town founded. Took Agrippina and was rewarded with a great leader.
1774 - Roman - English MPP brings Rome into war with Egypt. Bad news for Rome as they are trying to gain a foothold in South America and most of Egypt's cities are there. A Roman city in South America disappears.
Located Persian homeland on east coast of Asia (in Japan).
Preparations were made for settling South America and moving capital there.
1776 - A stack of Roman Calvary attacked from Tokyo and take Canton. Apparently, the Romans have a ROP with Japan and China. Nice flanking move by them but sloppy on my part.
Chinese Army in New Xinjian is threatening Nicomedia. They may be ready for a sneak attack.
Discovered Combustion (Destroyers and Transports) and diverted Galleon's en route to South America back to Byzantium for upgrade.
Took Jerusalem (Rome's capitol) with 2 Cavalry lost. Re-took Canton. Killed Roman Cavalry used in Canton attack (5 of them).
Secured a ROP with the Chinese for coal. Main goal here is to avoid a war with them. Used ROP to take Roman city Londinium.
Rubber is now on-line.
Reinforced front lines with China and Japan to 2 riflemen in case Romans try same trick again.
1778 - Babylon - Japanese MPP brings Rome into war. More bad news for Rome.
Roman cities Aurelianorum (Rome's new capital), Seleucia, and Caesarea (Rome's new new capital) are taken. Rome now has 1 city Artaxata on continental Africa located on the west coast of Africa behind Zulu and Greek borders. Convieniently, this city also has rubber.
Negotiated ROP with Greece and began railway to Artaxata for invasion. Railway completed with mass of workers and Artaxata (Rome's capital yet again) falls securing another source of rubber and removing the Roman threat from continental Africa.
Chinese army spotted last turn is actually Japanese. Seems the Japanese may have some plans after all. Fortified all border cities with Japan with Infantry and Artillery as resources permitted.
Launched 3 transports to South America with Destroyer escort. Fleet is transporting enough units to take out the Romans there and also contain 4 settlers and the great leader.
1780 - All quiet.
1782 - Greece declares war on Romans. The bad news never ends for them.
Filled another transport with workers, riflemen and a settler and sent it to South America.
Seems like moving the capital to South America will become a reality. Shift worker priorities to essential railways, pollution, then improving terrain around forbidden palace and near by cities. Start building police stations and courthouses in cities not near Forbidden Palace.
Discovered conquered Roman city Jerusalem is on rubber. That makes 3 sources now.
1784 - Londinium flips to Romans. Romes capital is on a one square island just off the west coast so it cannot be touched until marines.
Mass Production discovered (Battleship, Carrier, Subs).
Did not re-take Londinium to avoid war weariness.
1786 - Zululand enters alliance with Babylon against Rome.
Rome has only 3 cities left in South America. Seems the Egyptians have been picking them off.
1788 - Rome builds new town Verona in northwest Africa.
1790 - Roman city in South America razed by Egypt. Only 1 left.
Forbidden Palace constructred in Rheims.
1792 - Germany declares war on Rome. Last Roman city in South America holds out from Egyptian attack but won't last long.
Mobile Transportation (Tanks) discovered.
Spotted a Eyptian Galley and Frigate near the Roman island city Umtata. It is located just west of North Africa. Probably an invasion force for the Roman city.
Landed 6 Cavalry and an Infantry on Umtata to beat the Egyptians to the invasion.
Landed units in South America but couldn't move them this turn.
1794 - Egypt and England signed a peace treaty. English offered peace treaty.
Someone razed new Roman town Verona. Egypt razed the last Roman town in South America. Only the Roman town Londinium remains in Africa and contains nothing of value. Egypt flanked out troops on the island of Umtata preventing us from taking it from the Romans.
With Romans off South America, units landed there can focus on settlement. Got a ROP with Egypt.
Signed peace treaty with England. Rome still won't talk to us.
1796 - Signed peace treaty with Persia. Rome still won't talk to us.
Sent settler to former location of Verona in north Africa as location has ivory.
1798 - Romans have three Japanese cities near eastern front. Where on earth did they get the military to do this. They have few cities, only two could be found that were not on islands a few years ago.
Took Matsuyama from Romans. They had ten units defending it and 10 more in the vicinity. Romans still will not talk to us.
1800 - Romans counterattack with surprising strength. They only managed to kill one Calvary though.
Amphibious War discovered (Marines).
Colwood and Esquimalt founded in South America.
Re-took Londinium. Was going to let the Romans keep it might be possible to get some gems.
Rome finally talks to us. Took Umtata, Hakodate, Izumo, Hippo Regius, Minneapolis, Sidon, Tyrus and their world map for peace. Many of these are junk cities on remote islands in the middle of nowhere, but they give us a presence in new parts of the world.
We are now at peace with all civilizations.
1802 - Bombay founded in North Africa. City should provide ivory.
1804 - Fukushima (Japan) culturally defects to us.
1806 - Hoover Dam completed.
Mill Bay founded in South America.
1808 - Flight discovered (Bomber, Fighter, Airport).
Victoria and Lanford founded in South America. Once the road infrastructure is in place, we will move our capital to Victoria.
Airport rushed in Dye Town, South America plus airports started in several core cities.
Beard Rinker Feb 03, 2002, 03:06 PM It's all out cultural war with Egypt. Our ace in the hole is our large cash flow to buy cultural improvements and our willingness to relocate the capital to Victoria, South America with the assistance of the great leader Shivaji (seen standing in Dye City).
Beard Rinker Feb 03, 2002, 03:07 PM Nearing the elections of 1808, word of President Rinker's secret agenda of moving the capital to Victoria, South America got out. An election that would have been another sure victory ended up in a disastrous landslide against him. President Rinker disappeared from the texts of Indian history having never fulfilled his dream.
Beard Rinker Feb 03, 2002, 03:08 PM Diplomatic Relations
We are at peace with all nations.
We have a ROP with China, Egypt and Greece.
We have a trade embargo against Persia and England.
Japan has a trade embargo against us.
There are several wars under way. Of note are the English are at war with Babylon and Japan.
Resources
We have ample supply of all known resources.
Relative Strength of Civilizations
We are the most powerful civilization by a wide margin and the most culturally advanced. Our technology is several advances ahead of all other civilizations.
Next to us, Egypt, America, England and Iroquois appear to be the most powerful. Azteks, Babylon, Japan and China are powers but are fading. All the rest are pretty weak.
Military Situation
Egypt is moving large forces around in South America but do not appear to be hostile.
Japan has had an army marching around in our territory for some time but have not attacked. Our borders with them are well reinforced.
We have a large force of Cavalry in Donville and two armies of Cavalry in Paris.
Most cities are guarded with Infantry or Riflemen, there are two and Artillery if on the front line. There are still some cities guarded by Cavalry.
Several military units, including an army, are en route to the new world in South America. Some cities are protected by Cavalry instead of riflemen and few cities have more than one unit defending.
Are navy is rallying near Mill Bay South America, Artaxata Africa, and Gordion North Europe.
Expansion
A settler is in place for a new city south of Victoria.
There are Cavalry sitting on possible city locations in South America and others heading to possible city locations.
A transport containing two settlers and 6 workers are en route to Esquimalt.
Construction of Note
An airport has been built in South America and several are under construction in our core cities.
Forbidden Palace is complete and is located in Rheims.
United Nations and Manhatten Project are not available for 3 discoveries.
Leader is located in Dye City, South America. This was to be used to move the capital to Victoria.

donsig Feb 23, 2002, 10:15 AM (Bump) Anyone care to play some turns here?
meldor Feb 23, 2002, 10:53 PM I have the file......
meldor Feb 24, 2002, 12:17 AM I could only get in two turns before time for bed. Would have had three, but game locked up on me about 3/4 of the way through the first turn, first try. Will go ahead and put up save in case someone west of here wants a go.......Summary to follow....
meldor Feb 24, 2002, 12:45 AM Here is the file....it was too big first try.
meldor Feb 24, 2002, 01:03 AM Summary....
First turn -
France declares war on Japan.
Persia and Egypt sign alliance against Rome.
Persia declares war on Romans.
Aztecs and Persia sign alliance against Japan.
Aztecs declare war on Japan.
I watch as way too many Japanese, Aztec, and Egyptian units cross by. The people cry out to build the Pentagon and it is so ordered. Radio is due in two turns....lowering science to 50% still gives two turns and nets 805 gpt (can't get it one no matter what we spend). Had to switch tiles between cities to eliminate starving in Paris, Hammers, Rochester, Habibi, and Donville.
Second turn -
Quite on the international front as again way too many foreign troops parade across our lands. Cleaned up several spots of pollution that had been missed. Started airports in more cities. Upgraded lots of units, rushed improvements in South America. Settlers/workers land, workers put to task. Settlers were moved to Dye City. Airlifted one infantry to city for settler escort. Cities finished with airports and nothing better to do were started on tanks. Radio due in one turn, still at 50%.
To Do - Move settler/escort to new city location. Transfer another escort for second settler and send them on there way. There are a ton of Egyptian units on the move in the southern part. Could be dicey. Set new tech and move research level to optimize time to research.
donsig Feb 24, 2002, 02:25 PM Glad to see this game moving again!:goodjob:
donsig Mar 21, 2002, 07:08 PM (BUMP) Anyone care to play this one so we can finish it off?
BTW: I deleted all my old attachments in an effort ot conserve server space (and reduce forum downtimes).
Morten Blaabjerg Mar 21, 2002, 10:38 PM I have deleted all my old saves as well, but kept the screenshots. Mine are mostly gif's or jpg's so they're not too big, and the thread/story aint quite the same without them. [if anyone enjoys reading it, that is] ;)
