Let's move fast, if we want to be able to sell pottery we need to negotiate a deal before MIA buy it from someone else (Celts).

Question: Should we negotiate a trade where we sell Pottery to Greece (MIA) in exchange for Bronze Working plus some other tech (Iron Working, Wheel, Other).

BW and IW. we would get a distinct miltary upgrade for our troops. this will also cleary level the playing field for us between MIA, if they have found iron. also, pottery isn't that valuable, i mean granaries and the pyramid are worthless compared to swordmen and spearmen.

Greece doesn't have wheel. I think they know Celts who have pottery, but perhaps Greece has nothing to sell. So we can suggest pottery for BW, that should be fine. I doubt they will give two techs, but one can always ask :). EDIT: in view of their recent letter, better not maybe...

wheel is better than IW for us, once we get horses I think we can build our UU 3/1/2 as opposed to swords 3/2/1 for the same price. Unless I am mistaken?

If we can just get bronze, that would work fine by me. Iron, WC, or the wheel is a bonus. Agreed that we should get on this right away.

Im inclined to say get the wheel if we can get it in 4 turns or so, or at least before philo.

The wheel allows us to build chariots. We would need to get Warrior Code and HBR to get to our UU. I like building up a chariot stack for upgrades.

how much does it cost to upgrade chariots? also, swords would really help our army and we can always trade IW for HR and WC, IW is quite a good barganing chip. especially with a civ like Persia (TNT) who would jump at the chance for IW.

Chariots > MW costs 30 gold.

Warrior > sword is 60 gold. 3 gold per shield.

A straight trade Pottery for BW (or WC, or CB) looks to be the only thing we're going to get. After reviewing the calculated tech values, I think it would be a major mistake to attempt to push for more. Maybe try for one tech and a small amount of gold, and hope they don't counter with their tech being more expensive to begin with so why aren't we the ones kicking in the cash.

I say for the wheel, because we are iroquios so horses are more important that Iron.

Voted other terms - I'd be happy with just Wheel, or even just BW or IW

agree with Dave - we risk antagonizing these guys and losing a trade partner. BW or WC for pott is fine by me. They do not have the wheel (yet).
