I think that ICBM's should hit one turn after they're fired, then if someone has enough nukes to destroy another civilizaiton compleatly the other civ will still posse a threat if it has nukes, allows for a cold war.

It'd certainely be more realistic...

It takes approx 30 minutes for Topol ICBM to reach Washington from Urals, what turns are you talking about? it would be logical to implement Vengerance option with nukez pre-targeting(as in rality ,for example after building ICBM you set pre-target to Town A and if you are attacked by nukes pre-target nuke will be released, of course if owner of Town A launched nuke at you ). No one will launch after, the point is they launch - we launch. Preparation to lauch take from 45 minutes to hours, so for example if Topol is released then unprepared for launch somewhere in washington(for ex.) can be suppressed before counterattacking so it can be represented in penalty for attacked player (something like 30% that your nuke will be released). Besides if there would be "hit next turn" option attacked player can move all his forces out of his towns and prevent their destruction.

I'd rather simply make missile instantly (ie : not waiting for the turn of the relevant player, but doing it at the moment the offensive nuclear missile is fired) auto-launch in case of nuclear attack, targetting the city that sent the nuke (or the capital of the country, if the nuke wasn't from a city).

Then you could just rush-build ICBMs in corrupt, disposable hamlets and launch nuclear weapons at enemy capitals and culture centers without fear of (significant) reprisal. I prefer the oft-discussed MAD system, where you pre-target all your ICBMs through a "Nuclear Advisor" screen. Once a nuke, anywhere, is launched, EVERYBODY has the option of launching their own nukes that have been pre-targeted at the offender (or taking advantage of the chaos and shooting a few at somebody else, too  ).

Well, that's a good option too, as long as it's doable at the exact same time that the launching is happening (ie : during its turn, not having to wait yours).

The MAD idea sounds perfect, nough said.

In Civ3, I've never seen one of my nukes destroyed by nukes, even by a direct hit. I've been nuked plenty of times. I could be lucky, (but I doubt that I'm that lucky) or they could have made them so that they aren't destroyed so that you can do a counter-strike the next turn (which I always do).

I laugh at the thought of launching then the civ begs you for peace and gives you everything for it....then Bang! a nuke lands on them that has been in the air while you dicussed peace....hehe :)

Hey, and maybe after the nukes went off, you could play the hidden mini-tbs, Civout, where you lead your wasteland tribesmen from their shelters to fight off mutants, giant insects, and stuff. The first tribe to find the chip for the water machine thingie wins.

You might want to avoid posting more of these posts. Next time I find one, it is a ban.

I'm fairly certain his post was meant in jest, Mr. 1234567890.
