Given this set of steps:

1. I post a save to a thread in PTW (latest patch).

2. Someone else opens it in C3C (latest patch).

3. They play and post their save to the thread.

4. I open their save (PTW to C3C) in PTW.

Question A: Could Step #2 happen?
Question B: Is Step #4 even possible?

I have searched the forum some (about 30 minutes or so). I found that C3C installs PTW, but does so without letting the user know this fact. I also found that the C3C ruleset, Tech tree and other things are very different from C3C to PTW.

I think that Question A is true (90% True vs 10% False). The best I could guess on Question B is 50% True vs. 50% False.

Anybody know for sure?

Yes, a PTW save can be opened in C3C, but once you've done that (and subsequently saved it), you can't then re-open it in PTW.

I'm not sure you could load a PTW save in Conquests....I'll have to check. But I do know that once it's opened and saved in conquests PTW won't be able to open it.

Now, you're right that PTW is installed when Conquests is installed. It does have it's own menu-tree in the start menu, so if you're playing PTW and your opponet is playing Conquests, they'll have to open PTW via the start menu. Then you should both be able to play a PTW PBEM.
