R8XFT Sep 16, 2005, 10:15 AM Another winner! Going straight into Anno Domini. Thanks :thumbsup: !!
Arturus Sep 16, 2005, 10:20 AM Aaglo, you are a master sea unit maker! Great unit! :D
Quinzy Sep 16, 2005, 10:24 AM absolutely beautiful unit. quality stuff, as always!
Bungus Sep 16, 2005, 10:32 AM Tis a fine seafarin' vessal..
Hey aalgo, I now you mostly stick to sailing ships, but ever consider doing a steam boat? Something in between the galleon and the transport?
Mithadan Sep 16, 2005, 10:40 AM Wow! It's looks wicked, I love the big axe. But now what am I s'posed to do with the other wicked Minoan Galley you made back in the day? :lol:
Varwnos Sep 16, 2005, 10:44 AM Very nice :D
utahjazz7 Sep 16, 2005, 11:00 AM Looks great . . . again . . . :) I love your boats.
aaglo Sep 16, 2005, 11:11 AM Thank you all :) - my pleasure :)
@Mithadan,
what other minoan galley? I don't remember doing such... I've done egyptian galley, phoenician bireme, greek and roman trireme... uuhhh, do you mean that minoan war transport (with the bull sail)? Well, use that as a war galley, and this more like a transport ship then ;)
@Bungus,
I've done a couple of steamships. A paddlewheel ironclad and steamtiger (they're listed in the link at my signature, under ships-category)
egroen Sep 16, 2005, 11:54 AM ...do you mean that minoan war transport (with the bull sail)? Well, use that as a war galley, and this more like a transport ship then
I've suggested both be used for the evil nations in LotM. They have an intimidating look to them without being too Warhammerish for Tolkien :)
Varwnos Sep 16, 2005, 12:14 PM Another use of it could be as an ancient uu (replacement for carrack; a carrack that can transport settlers could be important in some cases)
Sword_Of_Geddon Sep 16, 2005, 02:06 PM I can't wait for Orthanc to finish that Ragnarok, then the two of you can go toe to toe... :)
Arne Sep 16, 2005, 02:16 PM Thank you, aaglo! :worship: It is great, I love it. :goodjob:
Orthanc Sep 16, 2005, 02:36 PM Minoans, weren't they the ones that had a settlement on the island of Thira, that got blown up and is mostly blamed for the Atlantis myth?
Oh and uber boat as always.
@Sword_Of_Geddon
Toe to toe with my mentor? Well they do say that competition is the prime cause of advance, we'll see once the Ragnarok is done (funny, Ragnarok means essentially "final battle" in Norse mythology). I had plans to do Metal Gear Ray and Rex, but I find the sea calling me lately...
Bungus Sep 16, 2005, 02:43 PM @Bungus,
I've done a couple of steamships. A paddlewheel ironclad and steamtiger (they're listed in the link at my signature, under ships-category)I was thinking more like a transport rather than a war ship. Something that could upgrade to transport. I'm think Wymeshadow and a maybe a couple others did something comparable, but you've probably supplied half the naval units in my game (and Orthanc a few too), so it'd be nice to have a coal burning transport in the same style.
Sildo Sep 16, 2005, 04:30 PM This unit isn't that exeptional for you aaglo, I almost think fraxis might have a chance of doing something nearly as good :goodjob:
BadKharma Sep 16, 2005, 04:34 PM Another great unit Aaglo I enjoy all your creations.
Arturus Sep 16, 2005, 10:08 PM Hmm, I don't have a Minoan civiliation but I think the axe symbol might make a good flavour unit to replace the galley for Germany (thinking back to the symbols of ancient Germania). Again, great work Aaglo!
cemo1956 Sep 17, 2005, 05:37 AM Aaglo,
what about the Roundship in the Medieval. The huge transport ships used by the Normans to transport there big horses.
I don't think anyone made such a ship. The Cog has been made but I think the roundship was before the Cog.
Many website can be found on this type of ship, so I'm sure you can find inspiration in bunches. The Roundship would be a nice advancement between Galley/Vikingship and the Cog/Carrack/Caravel ages for northern europe.

Snorken Sep 17, 2005, 10:08 AM Nice boat, aaglo. :)
flamescreen Sep 17, 2005, 04:55 PM This ship is much closer to what the Minoan ships should look like(the ones from 3000 b.c., according to frescoes we have), but slightly bigger. I requested a slight alteration of the bireme for the other ship and intented it for usage of about 1000 b.c.
If you go historically, this is the best way to go probably. You could also use the other ship(with the bull sail) as an Egyptean ship, they had bulls as an emblem too(but not the Labrys = two edged axe, so this one is perfect for a uu)
