hi guys
i think the obsolete unit concept should be removed.......
i want to build knights in the 21st century i should be fully allowed to
the reason for this is that new cities created in the mid - late game have no possible way of getting some cheap defense to protect themselves

Just build the defense elsewhere, or leave the new cities away from the trade network. Why would you want to build weaker defenders? I can understand your way of thinking, but while you're at it you might just as well build something proper.

That would allow a nasty exploit. No matter what, normal units can only attack once per turn. Blitz units can attack as long as they have movement points, but they still have only a finite number of attacks. Any Civ with the support money could crank out tons of 10-sheild Warriors in border cities and use them to form a buffer while the core cities build Tanks, Missiles, and Mech Infantry to railroad to the front.

Yeah, those low-end units generally have very low shield costs, and like many 1/1 Magic: The Gathering creatures, they still buy time. Time should cost more than 10 shields on turn 500.

Currently upgrading units is a make or break situation. It gives you a stonger unit but it's more expensive. I don't think you should have units never expier but you should only be able to build the one you just reaserched, and it's predesessor. that will make reaserching an upgrade an advantage all the time.
