Since the Pyramids have been mentioned elswhere (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=3114207#post3114207) it may be time to discuss the wonder building. If what we think is true, we will out-rex others, we may allow ourselves a wonder or two.
What wonders would we like to have?
Colossus in a 2:d costal city?
Pyramidz for a dom win?
SoZ for late AA cav party?

Side note: If this thread turns out to be completely useless, it is still a nice name on a department and I 'am, in this very moment, conducting a little cermony in order to install myself as its chief.

What about GL?

If not GL, then Pyramids. I don't think others are worth their shields. Colossus maybe...

I always like the facial expression of your old avatar, Dagh, but it makes for one VERY ugly woman!!!

Daghie you're such a nut.
The pyramids could truly be overpowering in a game like this.
The wonders I see value in include Sun Tzu, Leo's, G Light, Smith's and Hoovers.

Good thing you brought up the Lighthouse . I usually skip that one (like most of the others), but here it could be really useful. No one's seafaring so if we were the speedy gonzales of the sea we would have some advantage. If we keep a buddy relation w MIA then the key to staying ahead might be that extra sea movement.

I'm not sure, but I think they enabled SGL's, didn't they? If any team gets one, it could be very powerful.

I suspect we may be able to grab a wonder, the other teams may follow the "no wonder rule" and we may be able to do some hoggin.

I'm not sure, but I think they enabled SGL's, didn't they? If any team gets one, it could be very powerful. Yes they did. We voted against that as well as barbies since we believe in skills rather than Miss Fortune :D . If Nut's go for the GLib they deny themselves of the opportunity to get an SGL which is the upside of it 4 us.

I'd rather we focus on clearing out our continent... no AA wonders as far as I'm concerned. If we go for one anyway or get a SGL, pyramids would be my choice.

Nikodemus

I'm with Crakie on this one.. Pyramids would be my first choice too but I'm not too eager to start building it (or any wonder) from scratch.

I'm on board with Crakie and Niko. No wonders unless they are given through a SGL or much later in the game.

I agree with SGL's only for anything early.

I agree, they're just too expensive. Expanding and building military is a better choice.

BTW... In order to get SGL, we must do some research :). And if possible research techs unknown to the others.

what? no cool tombs for us?
and no place to store all of our dear RYE and WHEAT? how will we brew our mystic brew?

but maybe a genius like Arthur Guiness shall appear from the mist of our drunkeness and let us open a world wide chain of breweries and grannaries?

I'm still a big fan of the pyramids. With our settler producing capability and the pyamids we could easily overpower with sheer numbers. Whomp told me this world is symetrical so the opposing teeam with similar lands will have the same opportunity. Waiting around for an SGL to get the Wonder? Those are far and few between as we all know. Plus we are not blowing the world away with our science at this point. I would like to get it started once we have about 8-9 cities up.

lets build the FP away from the core and use it as the wonder city

Hmm, very interesting. I would like to have one going as soon as we have our 2 settler fac's, 1 worker pump, dyes/spices/furs/wines/ivory?-cities and two military pumps. That would make it #10 or so.

Pyramids along with our argiculural trait would be overpowering. Let's go for it.

Problem with them is that it would drag both a city's prod, and attention upon us. I'd like to have it too though. Perhaps the last ring 1 city could pre-build with a palace and change to it at the last minute? That way we'd have 2 core military cities up soon and it doesn't hinder our production so much. Plus, I think we'd still be good enough to get it with a 7th-8th city, with our current growth rate.

I'm not sure the attention is such a bad thing for us. Without being too sure I have a feeling Nuts have been snotty towards MIA because they want us as allies and they want that because they figure we're the real McCoy over here. Building the mids underscores that. Not neccesarily completing it but having the balls to start on it.

OK B, Idiot proof :D :
Nuts like strong partner, nuts think maybe MIA are weak compared to us so they wait with trading, we start Pyramids and show we're strong, nuts like that and want to deal, the stronger we appear the more they want to make friends = good deals for us.

After playing the save58 I am really in favor of going for the pyramids one our new 3 towns building rax's are up and produce a military. Capital or dunderhead though I prefer the capital because Dunder is doing a nice job with workers.

Could they be planning a later switch the the GLib, trying to throw us off, knowing we might be checking this type of thing? As far behind as they are in techs, it's the only sense I can make out of it. :hmm:

Daghdha

MIA is not far behind in techs gmh. You must be mistaking them for TNT. It might just be another directed chop. Let's ask 'em, but sure enough they have one more costal city.

Tubby Rower
Jan 09, 2006, 10:44 AM
we currently have 19 turns left for the FP in Polecat
we could switch to the Palace for more stealth up to 300 shields

the Pyramids have another 47 turns before completion in Polecat at the current rate
