it was running a few weeks back everything was good then i uninstalled the game. Now, i'm trying to get it installed again but it doesn't work. the autorun doesn't run right, a black screen comes up and it goes back to windows XP nothing else happens. I can open the cd drive the disc is in and click on set-up which starts the install wizard but it only runs up to 8% then stops.

any sugestions on making this game work?

this is civ3 - gold

How did you uninstall the game? Did you go via the control panel, or simply delete the folders?

Try cleaning-out the registry for civ. Linked from here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=118126#7).

Edit: Just found this thread:

Try that first. :)

when i placed the disc in my dvd-rw drive it started up fine but the main page doesn't know i unistalled the game, when i hit uninstall it does nothing and if i hit play game it just says binkw32.dll was not found and to re-install application. nowi got to figure out how to reinstall it, while i did use the add/remove area of xp to uninstall it in the first place, go figure

OK - if its a bink problem, try installing the bink extensions manually.

Download them from this link (http://www.radgametools.com/down/Bink/RADTools.exe), then run the file. It might fix it. :)

I'm having a similar problem, although the game won't even get to the install screen, and only recognises uninstall features. Hopefully this can help me as well.
