My currant game is being ruined by a message which then crashes the game. The message says "maximum hypertext links exceeded" after I click on another Civ's unit and get the prompt dialogue box. Anyone know what is causing it?

Not sure. I found This link (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=113859), but its not very helpful. Do you get this a lot? Or only after you've been playing for a while?
