Hey guys,
I've recently installed Civ III (no expansions) on my PC and when i try to play it, it loads fine and plays fine, its just that the fonts are all blocky and not good. :(
I've had this problem before and lived with it, but then I stopped playing civ(shame shame shame) and the got back into it and it worked fine. I cant remember what i did. I visited this wonderful site and looked at the technical support and did the thing where it said remove the Lucida Sans from your font directory. I removed all the Lucida fonts.

Hope you can help,

Arseface

Can you post a screenshot?

Ok, some new stuff has come up in that the fonts on the title screwed up (see screenshot) therefore i haven't tried to play it. But I tried to play it so i could make a screen shot of a city for c3cfanatic and when i tried to build a city it said something like "unable to apply draw buffer" and it closed civ. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. Heres a screenshot of the title screen.

Holy cr@p! I think it was a bad idea to remove all those fonts. If you can, put them back in. Obviously that either made the problem worse, or didn't fix it. May as well put them back. As for the game itself: I would recommend copying your save-games (if you want them) to your desktop and re-installing the game. If that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. But I would NEVER (underline 3 times) take away fonts. The computer uses them and the game doesn't have to. The game crashing is caused by the game looking for the Lucida fonts, but it can't find them! I really hope you didn't empty the recycle bin... :cringe:

Please let me know if that worked. If it didn't and reinstalling didn't work, you may have some super-secret edition... :)

Font problems are often fixed by deleting the lucida sans font, then uninstalling/reinstalling Civ3 (which will add the font, IIRC).

I never had the problem, but that is *supposed* to work.... :hmm:

I don't think you can change the font.

Did you try putting Lucida back in? If that doesn't work...

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Unfortunately, none of your solutions worked so the grand prize goes to me. I just got PTW and the problem is fixed.

 Yes, upgrading is the best policy. From vanilla to PTW, from PTW to Conquests...
