View Full Version : Ticonderoga Class Aegis Cruiser 1.2 (10-11-05) vingrjoe Oct 11, 2005, 04:51 PM 02-03-06, New version 1.3 out. Find it here on page five of this thread. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=140053 Sword_Of_Geddon Oct 11, 2005, 08:22 PM Nice unit VJ Is this the same Aegis Cruiser design in the main game? la_dav Oct 11, 2005, 08:25 PM Wow, good unit!! :) Vuldacon Oct 12, 2005, 04:27 AM That Looks Good vingrjoe...all flcs look Great and this is a Superb Unit. If I may say so, the Run is the Only Flc with any minor "anomalies". The Border Pixels "Blinking out" and moving around and the White Water waves from the ship could Loop more smoothly. Not to be Overly Critical here, but with all the fine work and effort you have done with this unit, it seems to stand out by comparison. Really Nice Unit in any case. :goodjob: vingrjoe Oct 12, 2005, 08:53 AM Sword of Geddon, the Firaxis unit is, I believe, supposed to be an Aegis cruiser, but IMO, the gfx they use don't look like it. Vuldacon, the pixels on the ship you may see in the Run animation are from the ship's movement. I have the ship pitching somewhat during the run animation. I've noticed some Firaxis units have these as well. This is just due to the ship changing positions. To me, these are more accpetable than the dark, outline pixels that come from antialiasing against the background, and really not much can be or should be done about them. Since the Run animation is moved across the game screen, a person doesn't have that much time to see them anyway. In regards to the wake, I use a particle system for that. That, in itself is somewhat hard to control, pertaining to making it loop. El Justo Oct 12, 2005, 09:57 AM well done vingrjoe. maybe i'll try and do an in-game comparison between old and new w/ the blue sea tiles and all... btw, the helo unit looks like it has gained range in this anim compared to the old one. am i going crazy? either way, i like it alot! Vuldacon Oct 12, 2005, 10:35 AM vingrjoe...the border pixels on the ship are not any big problem and the wake is ok ...perhaps the wake could be animated to dissipate as it moves so the wake doesn't seem to "reset" with the loop. No need in having the wake be visible from its beginning and followed until the end of the animation. This then "resets" with the animation. I am not meaning to Pick this apart or down grade your Great Unit in any way...guess when I see something so well done, any little minor anomalies "call" for the same Perfection as all else to me. Great Ship! Quinzy Oct 12, 2005, 11:18 AM nice ship. i agree with the wake/looping but other than that, great unit! El Justo Oct 12, 2005, 11:52 AM here's an in-game screenie of the 2 units. the new method's gfx are on top while the old ones are at the bottom. to be honest, the only difference i can see in-game is the shadow on the hull but the jpeg blurriness may have something to do w/ it. needless to say, both sets are superb. Bluemofia Oct 12, 2005, 11:52 AM :goodjob: Nice. Is that a helicopter landing in the fidget animation? vingrjoe Oct 12, 2005, 01:52 PM El Justo, I don't remember giving the helo any longer flight path... Bluemofia, yes, it is a helo landing in the Fidget animation. Drivebymaster Oct 16, 2005, 01:31 AM NICE UPDATE....so I guess you figured out how to get better looking renders huh.... have a lil bit o free time? Grishnash Oct 18, 2005, 03:57 PM Can you show me a pic of it next to another ship? Coz right now it looks a bit small.. But i like that you made it have misslies. vingrjoe Oct 19, 2005, 11:35 AM Of course it looks small compared to Firaxis' cartoon ships. It is in scale with my other ships. El Justo Oct 19, 2005, 12:52 PM i think that the scale is splendid actually. |
