When starting Civ the monitor goes black and states out of range.

I can still hear the sound from the game.

My platform is Windows XP and a Geforce 32 mb ram MMX400 videocard.

Please help...

I experience this problem whenever I try to start civ when my screensaver has been on. I am pretty sure this is because I have the wrong or an old monitor-driver. replace your monitor-driver and the problem will probably go off.

Okay, but the screensaver has not been loaded. But i have solved the problem, by running Civ in win98 mode.

I had this problem when I installed XP. I had my monitor/display settings on 1024x768x32bit color. I reduced it to 16 bit color and then all was fine.
